Abstract: A method of fabricating a diffusion barrier using a gas cluster ion beam apparatus is disclosed. The method includes generating a metal-organic gas that includes a metal-organic compound that includes an element of cobalt (Co) or cobalt and iron (CoFe). The metal-organic gas is combined with a carrier gas that is supplied to the gas cluster ion beam apparatus (GCIB). The GCIB processes the carrier gas to form a beam of gas cluster ions that include the metal-organic compound. The beam irradiates an interface surface of a target material (e.g. an IrMn, PtMn, or MnFe antiferromagnetic layer) and at least a portion of the Co or CoFe remains in contact with the interface surface to form a barrier that prevents a diffusion of manganese (Mn).
Abstract: A bus holder includes a first inverter, a second inverter and a pass switch. The first inverter is coupled between a first power supply voltage node and a second power supply voltage node, and receives an input signal via an input terminal to output a first output signal having an inverted phase with respect to the input signal. The second inverter is coupled between the first power supply voltage node and the second power supply voltage node, and inverts the first output signal to output a second output signal, having an inverted phase with respect to the first output signal, to an output terminal. The pass switch is coupled between the input terminal and the output terminal, and outputs a signal having a level of a control voltage to the input terminal, in response to the control voltage. Accordingly, a tolerant input/output buffer may stably maintain an input signal level when a bus is floated.
Abstract: A hand tool comprising first and second jaw members and first and second handle members, the first handle and both jaw members being cooperatively connected by a force multiplying linkage system. A force applied to the first handle drives the linkage system to close the jaws to crimp or cut a work piece. In one embodiment of the invention, a link in the linkage system has a first end movable between first and second positions relative to its first end pivot pin wherein the first and second jaw members close a first distance when the link first end is in the first position and close a second distance when the link first end is in the second position. Other embodiments comprise other step-wise changes in distance between force-bearing pivot locations in the linkage system to close the jaws progressive distances with successive closures of the first and second handles.
Abstract: Methods for splicing optical fibers include coupling a first optical fiber cable to a longitudinally extending closure frame and coupling a second optical fiber cable to an adjustable guide member on the closure frame. The adjustable guide member is moved toward the first optical fiber cable to provide a distance between the first and second optical fiber cable less than an exposed length of the first and second optical fiber therebetween to provide a slack length of optical fiber. Cleaved exposed ends of a first optical fiber from the first optical fiber cable and a second optical fiber from the second optical fiber cable are positioned proximate each other in a splice station displaced from the closure frame utilizing the slack length of optical fiber. The first and second optical fibers are spliced in the splice station and the adjustable guide member is moved away the first optical fiber cable to remove the slack length and position the spliced optical fibers in the closure frame.
