Abstract: A base station in a communication system where mobile stations receive paging announce using a discontinuously received reception frame and the mobile stations receive multicast data as well as the paging announce, in which the mobile stations in idle mode are searched for from among the mobile stations receiving multicast data, the mobile stations located where a paging group to which the searched-for mobile stations belong overlaps an area where the multicast data are distributed are selected from among the searched-for mobile stations, and the base station includes a radio resource allocating unit allocating radio resources to the selected mobile stations, the radio resources being for transmitting uplink signal, and an allocated radio resource information including unit including information of radio resources allocated by the radio resource allocating unit in a radio frame transmitting the multicast data to be transmitted to the selected mobile stations.

Abstract: In a radio communication system, each of user terminals together with transmitting a data signal to a base station using different data transmission band frequencies that are assigned by a base station, performs time-division multiplexing of a pilot signal with the data signal and transmit the resulting signal to the base station. A resource management unit of the base station decides pilot transmission bands for each user terminal so that the pilot transmission band covers the data transmission band for each user terminal by frequency offset, and instructs the user terminal to transmit pilot signals using the decided pilot transmission band frequencies. Thereby the base station can estimate channel for each frequency of the data transmission band using the pilot signal.

Abstract: Cooking tongs comprise a flat slice portion (1) and a dished portion (2) mounted on elongate arms (3, 4) with a spring hinge (5) therebetween biasing the portions to a spaced apart position. Abstract: A resource-node of a peer-to-peer (P2P) network adapted to manage the allocation of resources to channel swarms. Resource allocation is based on a distributed algorithm in which resource-nodes of the P2P network occasionally join and leave channel-swarms. Each resource-node independently decides whether or not to stay in the channel-swarm that it has joined to. These decisions are based on values of a transience parameter set by a transience mechanism of the resource-node.

Abstract: The invention relates to recovering files stored on a HDD of a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) in the case of a crash of the HDD. Every time a file is stored on an external medium special information of the file system of the HDD is stored—optionally in encrypted form—on the medium as far as enough storage capacities available there. According to the invention the stored information is overwritten if a rewritable medium is used. By that the medium can be optimally used. If the HDD fails the stored information can be used to copy the files to external media.

Abstract: A method and system for securing hosting web pages from malicious third party modules. The method includes uploading a third party module to a hosting web page; validating a proxy API call received from the third party module, wherein the proxy API call includes at least a payload parameter provided by the third party module; generating an engine API call including at least the payload parameter; validating the engine API call; and executing the payload parameter if the engine API call is validated.

Abstract: In a radio system performing scheduled transmission to a plurality of receiving stations from a transmitting station having a plurality of antennas, a transmitting station obtains reception quality information estimated from feedback information obtained from the plurality of receiving stations, determines whether a transmission system performs beamforming, which transmits data of an identical stream by weighting each of the plurality of antennas based on the obtained reception quality information, or performs MIMO multiplexing, which transmits data of different streams respectively from the plurality of antennas, and transmits information to identify the determined transmission system by adding to a scheduler management channel.

The method includes the steps of receiving from at least one terminal a request for repairing a packet of the at least one file delivery session, selecting a repair server among a plurality of repair servers for repairing the packet to the at least one terminal and redirecting the request to the at least one terminal with the address of the selected repair server or forwarding the request to the selected repair server.

Abstract: A voice packet transmission method and apparatus for transmitting a voice packet with a header, wherein a voice packet with a compressed header is transmitted, monitoring is performed to detect whether a necessity to send a voice packet with an uncompressed header is generated during the transmission, the voice packet data with an uncompressed header is divided into a plurality of portions when the necessity is generated, and each divided data is transmitted via different antennas by spatial multiplexing.

Abstract: A data retransmission method for a radio communication system, in which a plurality of data streams are transmitted from a plurality of transmission systems, the method includes when there is a transmission error in transmission data in any of the plurality of data streams, adaptively selecting beamforming or spatial coding for retransmission of the transmission data; and retransmitting the transmission data with transmission errors by using either of selected beamforming or spatial coding, wherein a criterion for adaptively selecting the beamforming or spatial coding is that by comparing a retransmission period with a prescribed fading speed, the beamforming is selected when the retransmission period is smaller than the prescribed fading speed, while the spatial coding is selected when the retransmission period is smaller than the prescribed fading speed.

Abstract: A method of recording speech for use in a speech samples library. In an exemplary embodiment, the method comprises recording a speaker pronouncing a phoneme with musical parameters characterizing pronunciation of another phoneme by the same or another speaker. For example, in one embodiment the method comprises: providing a recording of a first speaker pronouncing a first phoneme in a phonemic context. The pronunciation is characterized by some musical parameters. A second reader, who may be the same as the first reader, is then recorded pronouncing a second phoneme (different from the first phoneme) with the musical parameters that characterizes pronunciation of the first phoneme by the first speaker. The recordings made by the second reader are used for compiling a speech samples library.

Abstract: The transmission apparatus performs orthogonalization processing to each of the signal sequence obtained by dividing each of the more than one transmission streams into more than one signal sequence based on the orthogonality of wireless resources. The signal sequence is then sent from multiple antennas. The reception apparatus performs the orthogonal separation processing based on the above orthogonality to the received signals to separate multiple reception signal sequence having the orthogonal characteristic, and applies a predetermined signal separation scheme based on the propagation path estimation matrix between the reception apparatus and the transmission apparatus to any one of the pairs of the separated reception signal sequence, thereby separating a signal sequence before subjected to the above orthogonalization processing.

Abstract: Techniques for securing a computing environment are disclosed. Specifically, the invention allows the execution of any software application with administrator permissions on any computing device. This is done while preventing any of the software applications executed by the users, to perform harmful operations on the device. To this end, a user having only guest access permissions is allowed to perform operations as if the user has administrator permissions.

Abstract: A first communication terminal attaches information to be used to recognize whether or not header decompression processing is required and to recognize a forwarding route to a second communication terminal, to compressed data obtained through compressing a header of original data destined for the second communication terminal, and sends the compressed data to the network. Upon receipt of the compressed data, a data forwarding unit in a network recognizes, based on the information, whether or not the compressed data requires the header decompression processing and the forwarding route, and sends, if the compressed data does not require the header decompression process, the compressed data to the recognized forwarding route without decompressing the header.
