  • Patent number: 8256934
Abstract: A puck light fixture has a puck shaped housing, the interior divided by a partition into a circular central compartment encompassed by an outer compartment. Air conduits closed to the housing interior admit flow of ambient air between top and bottom openings in the housing. The air conduits are in heat exchanging relationship with the partition for dissipating heat generated by a lamp in the central compartment and thereby lowering the operating temperature of electrical wiring and connectors in the outer compartment so as to allow use of lower rated wiring for on site hard wiring of the puck fixture.

  • Patent number: 8240870
Abstract: A halogen light fixture for mounting under a cabinet and over a counter surface, as in a kitchen, has a housing between opposite end caps adaptable to fixtures of varying lengths. A partition between the end caps cooperates with a housing top and rear wall to provide a closed wiring compartment including a power switch accessible on a bottom of the partition. A translucent diffuser panel is supported in open slots formed in the end caps and can be pulled from the slots for access to the lamps sockets. The fixture is held together by screws passing through the housing and the end caps.

  • Patent number: 7824921
Abstract: A urine sample is taken by providing to the person a container having a removable cap with an initially unbroken elastomeric septum puncturable by a blunt tipped pipette and self-resealing following withdrawal of the pipette from the septum. The urine specimen is deposited in the container and the cap replaced. The container with the specimen is conveyed to a laboratory location for analysis where the septum is punctured by manually pressing the blunt tip of a plastic pipette against the septum with sufficient force to puncture through the septum and into the container with the tip. A sample of the urine specimen is drawn into the pipette and the pipette tip withdrawn to allow the septum to self-reseal, such that the urine specimen is sampled for analysis without reopening the container cap following replacement of the cap at the specimen collection site.

  • Patent number: 7798668
Abstract: A corner mount light fixture has an extruded housing base with two mutually perpendicular housing walls and a wire channel coextruded with the housing base. A lamp holder snap mounts to the wire channel and pierces the insulation of a conductor pair press fitted in the channel. The conductor pair runs between two terminal blocks also snap mounted to the wire channel near opposite ends of the housing, so that multiple lamp holders can be installed at intervals along the conductor pair. Plastic housing covers snap onto the extruded housing base on either side of each lamp holder, and a glass lens is supported over each lamp holder in guideways molded on the housing covers. The lens slides along the guideways to open the housing for access to the lamp holder. Multiple fixtures can be daisy chained by interconnecting terminal blocks of adjacent fixtures.

  • Patent number: 7794132
Abstract: An electric lighting system for concealed lighting and track lighting installations has lamp holders spaced along a custom power cable with two finely braided high current conductors. The cable and conductors have a flattened rectangular cross section and are exceptionally pliable to facilitate cornering in tight spaces. The cable exterior is slotted for reduced height of the installed lamp holders and optimum low profile of concealed lighting installations. The lamp holders are adaptable to different types of lamps and include an optional reflector. Snap-on mounting lugs permit installation of the cable and lamp holders directly to a mounting surface. Alternatively, a low profile track holds the cable and lamp holders.

  • Patent number: 7600900
Abstract: A halogen light fixture for mounting under a cabinet and over a counter surface, as in a kitchen, has a housing of continuous cross section between opposite end caps adaptable to fixtures of varying lengths. Screw fasteners pass through aligned openings in the housing and the end caps for attachment to the cabinet underside, and spacers integral to the end caps provide for air flow between the fixture and the cabinet. A partition also extending between the end caps provides a closed wiring compartment and some or all of the electrical components of the fixture, including lamp sockets and power switch can be mounted on the partition for ease of assembly and access.

  • Patent number: 7411507
Abstract: Enhanced physical protection against vandalism for RFID reader/writer units is provided by a relatively thick metal front or housing which also functions as the antenna element of the reader/writer. The metal front is cut or slotted to define a radio frequency antenna integral with the metal front or housing for improved physical protection and good unshielded antenna function.

  • Patent number: 7363052
Abstract: A field deployable data processing and communications device such as a portable personal digital assistant (PDA) device is configured and programmed for collecting local information such as environmental, chemical or biological data, images and voice messages, at the scene of an incident of a nature which requires intervention by public safety or law enforcement agencies. The PDA is deployed at the incident scene by first response personnel and provides a conduit for seamlessly conveying information collected by the PDA at the scene to remote facilities and agencies, which may be chosen for their ability to deal with and respond to situations of a particular nature, thereby reducing delays and improving efficiency of response to public safety and security incidents.

  • Patent number: 7281277
Abstract: A pedal actuated seat lifter has a mounting plate fastened between a toilet bowl and its seat using existing bolts holding the seat in place. A floor pedal transmits lifting force through a chain or the like to a lever and lifting arm hinged to the mounting plate. The seat lifter can be provided as a kit of parts for relatively simple assembly and installation on an existing toilet fixture without use of adhesives or alteration of the toilet fixture, the floor or walls.
