Abstract: An opener tool having a working end, a convexly curved underside portion and a handle. The working end is dimensioned for insertion under the ring portion of a pull tab without lifting the pull tab ring sufficiently to bread the seal of the can top. The tool further has a stop element for limiting insertion of the working end through the finger opening.
Abstract: A continuous rotary method for surface shaping of resilient material such as synthetic foam. Three dimensional surface geometries of well defined and arbitrary shapes are obtained by pressing foam against a die roller to compress some foam portions to a reduced thickness against raised portions of the die and extrude other foam portions into depressions of the die, and cutting away the extruded portions. The compressed portions return to an uncompressed state after passage against the die roller and form raised areas on the foam surface around depressions corresponding to the cut away portions of foam.

Abstract: A syringe, particularly for epidural anesthesia, has an elastomeric driver in the form of a single elastic band perforated for mounting onto the tip of the syringe between the barrel and the needle hub. The elastic band is stretched into engagement with the thumbrest of the plunger to drive the plunger to full depression into the syringe barrel. The elastic band extends symmetrically on either side of the barrel to apply balanced force. Various configurations for the elastic band are disclosed.
Abstract: A control unit for controlling a strobe light or the like, in particular for use in an alarm system or an emergency locator, is characterized in that a direct current power supply unit is provided which is activated to drive the strobe light when an external power supply unit which is adapted to drive the strobe light is deactivated.

Abstract: A kit for applying stamping identification onto compact discs includes a base for supporting a compact disc, and a hand stamp with a spring loaded spindle sized to fit into a hole in the base for centering the stamp relative to the disc. The spring force on the spindle must be manually overcome to apply the stamp to the disc and helps maintain uniformity of stamping force. The stamp assembles with an inkwell unit for clean and convenient storage of both stamp and inkwell.
Abstract: A composite seafood product is made by assembling smaller butterflied shrimp into composites of two to four shrimp, all but/one of which are tailless, resembling in appearance a single large butterflied shrimp. The shrimp composites are dusted and frozen apart from each other to retain individuality. The individual composites can then be coated with batter and deep fried to yield a food product seemingly consisting of large individual shrimp.
Abstract: Whole crayfish is processed to derive a food serving resembling in appearance a small lobster by deheading the crayfish, making a U-shaped incision around the belly shell encompassing the anal opening of the crayfish, and peeling away the belly shell including the anal opening and the digestive tract still attached to the anal opening, thereby to devein the crayfish and expose the edible flesh contained in the hard shell in a single operation. When subsequently heated during cooking, the flesh tends to curl slightly away from the hard shell for easier extraction.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for operating a segmented sliding overhead door. The door is of the type for sliding in a pair of side tracks mounted at either side of the door between a dosed vertical position and an open horizontal position. A driver is mounted at the side-to-side center of the door and extends away from an interior side of the door. The driver includes a screw drive shaft adapted to be mounted horizontally above the door. A motor is engaged with the drive shaft and provides reversible rotational drive force to the drive shaft. A drive shaft coupling unit engages the drive shaft for moving along the drive shaft in response to rotation of the drive shaft. A track assembly engages and supports the rotating drive shaft and guides the coupling unit in linear travel along the drive shaft. A door connecting rod assembly serves to rigidly jam the door against the floor when the door is in the fully closed position, and connects the carrier unit to the door for moving the door along the side tracks.
Abstract: Video noise reduction is achieved by limiting the loop response bandwidth in a phase locked loop demodulator with a high-pass RC network connected between two oppositely phased video signals in the phase detector for out-phasing a high frequency component of the loop response bandwidth. Easy user adjustment allows viewable video images to be obtained from very noisy signals in deep fringe reception areas.
