Abstract: A method for non-invasive selective thermal destruction of a skin target by RF current. One or more characteristics of an RF current and a bipolar RF electrode system are determined based upon one or more features of the target in order to create in the target an average energy density exceeding 5 Joules/cm3 but lower than a skin coagulation level. The determined electrode system is then applied to the skin and an average energy density exceeding 5 Joules/cm3 but lower than a skin coagulation level is generated in the target.
Abstract: A device for measuring the rotational angle of two components that can be rotated relative to each other has a shaft that can be securely coupled to the first component, and coaxially houses a light source and a materialized measure through which the light source shines. A sensing device can be securely coupled to the second component. The interior measure has an angular lattice structure and the sensing device has a coaxially arranged circular track of optical sensor elements, by means of which incremental angle measurement is possible. At least one marker element is also provided on the materialized measure that influences the sensor element corresponding to its absolute angle position. The sensor elements can be electronically polled individually in order to determine the absolute angle position.

Abstract: A method for determining airflow in a portion of a respiratory tract comprising determining a total acoustic energy in a region of a body surface overlying the portion of the respiratory tract. The airflow may be integrated over a time interval in order to determine an air volume that has flowed in the portion of the respiratory tract during the time interval. A graph of the flow rate as a function of the volume may be displayed and analyzed as in spirometry. The invention also provides a system for carrying out the method.
Abstract: An authentication/decryption unit authenticates and decrypts video signals received from a video signal output device. An open-condition detector detects the open condition of a cabinet. A memory stores therein one of a first flag indicating that an authentication operation of the authentication/decryption unit is enabled and a second flag indicating that an authentication operation of the authentication/decryption unit is disabled. A micro-controller controls whether the authentication operation of the authentication/decryption unit will be enabled or disabled according to the flag in the memory. When the open-condition detector detects that the cabinet is opened, the micro-controller writes the second flag into the memory.
Abstract: An arrangement for introducing a plate element, for which heat needs to be dissipated by means of conduction, into a slot of a chassis which is adapted to absorb the heat. The slot has a back wall adapted to contact the plate element upon its insertion, an opposing front wall, and a base wall. The plate element has margins adapted for carrying the arrangement. The arrangement comprises has a seat located on the margins. The arrangement further has a wedgelock moveably attached to the seat, having two slot engaging surfaces adapted to contact the front and base walls of the slot, and a seat engaging portion adapted to contact the seat.
Abstract: A herbicidal formulation comprising of incorporating the herbicide in a micelle or vesicle and adsorbing said micelle or vesicle containing herbicide on clay mineral. The formulation is suitable in particular for negatively charged herbicides at pH above 6. The herbicidal formulation provides slow release and reduced leaching of the herbicide to deep soil layers, thus reducing contamination of underground water and soil. Furthermore, the herbicide is maintained in the target vicinity, thus its efficiency is enhanced and a smaller concentration may be used.

Abstract: An apparatus adapted for confocal imaging of a non-flat specimen comprising a coherent light source for producing a light beam, imaging optics adapted to focus the light beam into at least one spot on a surface of a specimen, and a detector adapted to receive and detect light reflected from the specimen surface. The imaging optics comprise at least one optical component located so that the light reflected from the specimen surface passes therethrough on its way to the detector. The optical component is movable so as to move the at least one spot, within a range of movement, to a number of distinct locations in a plane perpendicular to the apparatus' optical axis, within the detector's integration time.

Abstract: A carrier section (2) is captively integrated into a box which is stabilized in a folding and glueing operation, said box comprising four side walls (5, 5?, 6, 6?) connected approximately at right angles to a base section (4). One of the side walls is embodied in the form of an articulated strip (7), at least as far as part of the length thereof is concerned. Said strip can be pivoted on the plane of the base section (4) and is coupled to the carrier section (2).
Abstract: An electrical steering lock device and a related method are disclosed wherein a plate cam 17 has a contoured profile determined such that a lock shaft 15 moves inside a lock groove 13 at a travel speed (first speed) lower than a travel speed (second speed) at which the lock shaft 15 moves outside the lock groove 13, enabling the lock shaft 15 to disengage from the lock groove 13 with increased torque. This results in a capability of reliably disengaging the lock shaft 15 from the lock groove 13.
