Patent number: 4413380Abstract: A binding locker is disclosed including a band having a rack of teeth thereon and a socket having a hole for receiving a leading end of the band. A locking member having a plurality of locking teeth thereon is disposed within the socket's hole so that the locking teeth mesh with the engaging teeth of the rack to thereby tie the socket and band together thus binding a plurality of objects such as wires together. The socket hole has a curved surface disposed to face or oppose the locking member and for receiving a mating, oppositely curved surface of the band. Further, the locking member is connected to the socket to be rotatable within the hole and further, has a projection extending oppositely of its locking teeth. An opening is disposed within the socket at substantially right angles with the axis of the socket hole to receive the projection of the locking member. Further, the band has a pair of ribs extending lengthwise therealong between which the rack of teeth extend.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1980Date of Patent: November 8, 1983Assignee: Satogosei Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tadashi Suzuki

Patent number: 4403653Abstract: A heat-transfer panel or sheet material comprises a woven wire mesh core of high thermal conductivity metal, for example copper or nickel, embedded in a closure layer of plastics material, for example a urethane, so that the mesh and the closure layer extend in the same longitudinal direction. The mesh core defines a nodal network and the nodes are located at or closely adjacent the outer surfaces of the closure layer so that satisfactory heat transfer between opposite sides of the panel is achieved over the whole outer surface area of the panel by virtue of heat conduction by the mesh core.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1980Date of Patent: September 13, 1983Inventor: Maxwell W. Davidson

Patent number: 4397299Abstract: A deep-fat fryer has a tank of inverted U-shaped configuration formed in either a single compartment or divided into two compartments by a medial divider formed of two parallel spaced panels with an insulated space between the panels; first and second infrared type gas burners are positioned facingly adjacent inner walls of the lower side portions of the vat and receive a measured amount of pressurized combustion air which is mixed with fuel gas to heat radiant tile elements of the burner to radiate heat against the vat walls with the combustion air being substantially less than that of conventional systems so that it is substantially no more than the minimum amount necessary to complete combustion. Flue gas is exhausted upwardly along side flue means to an upper horizontal gas discharge passageway extending beneath the upper portion of the vat to a vertical flue housing at the rear of the assembly with vanes provided in the gas discharge path for conducting heat to the vat.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1981Date of Patent: August 9, 1983Assignee: Vulcan-Hart CorporationInventors: Cecil K. Patent number: 4391040Abstract: A hair cutting unit device for the human head includes a movable open-ended casing in which an electrically operated clipper is mounted on guide means for movement. The blades of the clipper are in the open end of the casing. The position of the clipper with respect to the casing will fluctuate so that the cutting blades are moved away from the open end as the unit is moved upwardly on a head from the lower hairline so as to gradually increase the length of hair being left on the head. Rotary drums and threads in the casing are connected to a fixed member in which the head is positioned to effect translation of the clipper relative to the casing in response to movement of the unit upwardly from the lower hairline.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1981Date of Patent: July 5, 1983Inventor: Yukio Kanazawa

Patent number: 4382716Abstract: A blowout recovery vehicle for recovering the discharge from underwater wells comprises a large inverted entrapment shell positionable over a well and having overly extending tubes connected by hose means to surface separation and storage equipment. Floatation tanks are connected to the surface by air lines which are actuated to adjust the buoyancy of the device to raise or lower it so that it can be lowered over a well to trap the discharge from the well. In use, the assembled device can be towed by a tug into position or can be assembled in the water at the site and lowered over the well without the necessity of the tug coming into the effluent discharge area above the well. Alternatively, an anchor can be placed in the seabed directly upstream of the well at some distance from the well.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1981Date of Patent: May 10, 1983Inventor: Troy Miller

Patent number: 4367833Abstract: A tacker which ejects magazines from a staple on operation of a handle by means of a spring biased striker protruding from the ejections slot. The tacker must first be pressed against the surface so that the protruding portion of the striker is pressed inwardly so that a pawl formed on the operating handle can then engage the striker. It is only then that the tacker can be operated.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1980Date of Patent: January 11, 1983Assignee: Ofrex Group LimitedInventor: Alan G. Kenney

Patent number: 4366970Abstract: A flange juncture of a wellhead is protected by first and second stainless steel clam shell closure members of substantially identical construction which are positioned over the flange juncture and welded by stainless steel welding procedures to preclude external access to the holding bolts of the flange juncture so as to prevent the unauthorized disconnection of the flange juncture and the theft of wellhead components attached thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1980Date of Patent: January 4, 1983Inventor: Robert J. Hogan, Jr.

Patent number: 4364295Abstract: A sound pickup for a stringed musical instrument has a hollow open-topped housing with a base plate matingly fitting in the housing; the housing is formed of ABS plastic coated with copper nickel-chrome layers. The base plate is formed of ABS with its outer surface being nickel plated; two parallel slots in the base plate frictionally receive lower edges of parallel elongated coil core blades. An elongated magnet is positioned between the core blades and first and second coil assemblies including elongated slotted plastic bobbins are fitted over the core blades to overlie the magnet with lugs on the bobbins facing opposite ends of the magnet to hold it in position.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1981Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Inventor: Willi L. Patent number: 4358126Abstract: A 3-wheeled velociman having individual power transmission units 40 to each of the co-axial rear wheels 11, 12. Power to the units is supplied by a pair of hand activated levers 50, 51 each of which connects with an input shaft 41 to the respective unit via a ratchet mechanism 55 and transmits the power to the input shaft 41 in the desired forward or reverse rotational direction depending on the position of a pawl engagable with the ratchet.A gear change switch 60 controls the forward, reverse or neutral position of the pawl and consequently the rotational direction of the input shaft. The switch 60 is adjacent the hand grip of each lever 50, 51, and so is easily operated by the user. The input shaft drives an output shaft 42 on which the corresponding rear wheel is mounted. The hand levers are fulcrummed to the input shaft below and to the rear of the seat 18 and lie at an acute angle to the horizontal making operation of the levers by the user less tiring on the user's arms than on upright levers.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1980Date of Patent: November 9, 1982Inventors: Arthur W. Mitchell, Elbert J. Cornish

Patent number: 4355496Abstract: A package wrapping machine has a frame supporting a power driven rotary horizontal shaft with a turret plate member on the end of the shaft supporting two spaced tine banks; a stack of package components is clamped between the tine banks by pneumatic cylinders on the turret plate moving one tine bank toward the other. The end of a plastic film web W extending from a roll on the frame is clamped to the package components when they are rotated a predetermined number of rotations to effect the wrapping of the package components; a hot film cut-off means severs the web of plastic film from the wrapped package following the wrapping of the package and a pusher plate between the tine banks is extended by a cylinder to kick the completed package from between the tine banks, control means actuates the clamping means, rotary member, said film cut-off means and pusher plate in timed sequence.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1978Date of Patent: October 26, 1982Assignee: Systemation Inc.Inventors: N.
