  • Patent number: 6179115
Abstract: A mechanism for continuously transporting a variety of receptacles with predetermined adjacent spacing. The mechanism uses a first and a second chain driven by a common shaft around identical closed circuits, but vertically offset from one other. These closed circuits have opposed linear sides joined by identical opposed semicircular shaped ends, directed by grooves on opposite sides of a guide block. A vertical support, attached between the first and second chains, traverses the outside of the block. A third chain traverses a second circuit, which is centered and directly below the second chain, directed by a groove in the uppermost side of a horizontal frame positioned under the guide block. This second circuit is identical to the others in shape however it has a greater distance between the semicircular ends. Levers, each equal in length to one half of the third chain circuit elongation, are pivotably attached to the vertical support and to a plate.

  • Patent number: 6182112
Abstract: A new distributed control mechanism for managing bi-directional interfaces of symmetrical multiprocessor systems in such a manner as to minimize the latency to storage, yet fairly distribute the use of the interfaces amongst the various components. This bi-directional interface can be designed to perform with differing characteristics depending upon the direction of information flow. These characteristics are implemented into the control logic of the source and destination components interconnected by the bi-directional interface, thus yielding two interface behaviors using only one interface. Each component is able to track the state of the interface by using only its own request state in conjunction with the detected request state of the opposing component, when both units are operating under the joint control algorithm present in the control logic of the source and destination component.

  • Patent number: 6163978
Abstract: A seed corn dryer capable of being switched between a single pass mode and a dual path mode of operation. The invention includes an air supply unit adapted to delivery drying air to only one dryer plenum in a dual path mode and to both dryer plenums in a single pass mode. One air supply unit includes a supply upper plenum and a supply lower plenum with a closable air passage therebetween. The dryer includes a center plenum partitioned into upper and lower plenums, with a series of corn bins on either side. Each bin has an upper inside air door, a lower inside air door, a lower outside air door and an upper inside air door. In one single pass mode, air is forced into both upper and lower dryer plenums, then either up or down in a single pass through an individual bin, exiting to the outside. In one dual path mode, air is forced only through the upper dryer plenum, then downward through a first bin, through the lower plenum, upward through a second bin, exiting through an upper outside air door.

  • Patent number: 6162441
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing anti-E. coli O157 antibodies. Anti-E. coli O157:H7 antibodies are produced in egg-laying hens and isolated from the eggs. E. coli O157:H7 is cultured in a brain heart infusion broth and killed by the treatment with hot water for 5-10 min. After being collected by centrifugation, the dead bacteria is homogenized. Serving as an antigenic material, the bacterial homogenate is injected into egg-laying hens to induce antibodies against E. coli O157:H7 in the eggs. The induced antibodies are isolated from the yolk of the eggs and the eggs containing the antibodies against E. coli O157:H7 can be utilized, in their entirety, for foods. Alternatively, the yolks are separated from the eggs and freeze-dried. The resulting dried egg component can be applied to processed foodstuffs, alone or in combination with whole eggs. Since the antibodies against E. coli O157:H7 are contained in frozen eggs, it is very convenient to store the antibodies.

  • Patent number: 6148757
Abstract: An air propelled boat. It is provided with a pair of catamaran hulls, each having a unique catamaran hull design particularly adaptable for travel over land, water, ice or snow. Each catamaran hull has a pair of centered concave flutes extending from the aft end of the body to the forward end of the nose. At the nose end, the flutes are reduced in concavity and inclined longitudinally and laterally. Both inclinations are reduced in slope forward. The flutes guide water outward and under the hull and move the water hull contact aft. This decreases hull drag and increases lift. The hull bottoms are formed into a central longitudinal support flat which is flanked by parallel outboard support flats. The undersurface of a catamaran hull is covered by an ultra-high molecular weight plastic profile to reduce friction when traveling over a solid supporting surface. The catamaran hulls are foam filled for rigidity.

  • Patent number: 6141814
Abstract: The squeegee has a washing element which is attached to a support member and covered by a mesh protector. Replacement apparatus provides for rapid replacement of the mesh. The replacement apparatus includes a length of mesh wrapped around a reel. The wrapped end of the mesh is secured by locking the reel against rotation relative to the support member. The free end of the mesh is secured by mesh receiving projections positioned a top the support member which engage the free end of the mesh. To replace mesh which extends over the washer, the free and wrapped ends of the mesh are released and a length of mesh is pulled from the reel and stretched over the washer. Both ends of the mesh are then resecured to provide for a taut mesh deployment over the washer. The reel is removable to permit replacement with a new mesh supply. A cleaning disk for cleaning insects and similar difficult spots can be removably attached at one end of the squeegee.

  • Patent number: 6138607
Abstract: A device for automatically preparing and feeding liquid feed stuff for piglets. The device conserves labor and time while feeding the weanling piglets and improves both the feeding effect for SEW piglets and the feeding and mothering effect for weakened or motherless piglets. The device has a warm water supply unit, a dry feed stuff supply unit, and a mixing unit. The mixing unit repeatedly receives predetermined amounts of warm water and dry feed stuff from associated units under the control of a main controller at predetermined intervals prior to appropriately mixing the dry feed stuff with the warm water every time, thus forming liquid feed stuff prior to selectively supplying the liquid feed stuff to a plurality of feeding troughs for piglets.

  • Patent number: 6129967
Abstract: An extended wear-life composite wear structure particularly suitable for use as a liner in the form of modular panels, generally including a ceramic layer of spaced apart ceramic tiles, each having at least one anchor receiving structure therethrough, overlying a resilient energy absorbing layer separating the ceramic layer from a base layer, and ceramic tile anchors linking each of the ceramic tiles to the base layer via cooperative engagement with the anchor receiving structures of the ceramic tiles. This composite structure permits independent temporary displacement of each of the tiles upon a surface impact, improved retention of the tiles, and greatly enhances the overall structural integrity of the composite as the intermediate layer, layers and or structures are securedly "sandwiched" between the abrasion and impact resistant ceramic layer and the structural base layer.

  • Patent number: 6122897
Abstract: A method of creating a package with reclosable resealable flaps. The package is defined by a blank formed by die cutting a continuous web or sheet of material after ink and a release coating have been applied to one side of the web but on different areas. The blank, when folded, provides a structure with a rectangular cross-section having four planar sides, each side with extending flaps. A package is formed by closing and securing the flaps on the bottom end of the structure using a permanent adhesive. The package is then filled with product. One top outer flap can have a release coating applied to an area which will be engaged by the opposite flap when closed. This release coating, in combination with a repositionable adhesive, will cause the opposed flaps to releasably adhere one another to secure and seal the top opening. Repositionable adhesive can also be applied, either to the release coating itself, or to the surface opposite the release coating to the seal.

  • Patent number: 6122711
Abstract: Flush apparatus for a dual multi-processing system. Each dual multi-processing system has a number of processors, with each processor having a store in first-level write through cache to a second-level cache. A third-level memory is shared by the dual system with the first-level and second-level caches being globally addressable to all of the third-level memory. Processors can write through to the local second-level cache and have access to the remote second-level cache via the local storage controller. A coherency scheme for the dual system provides each second-level cache with indicators for each cache line showing which ones are valid and which ones have been modified or are different than what is reflected in the corresponding third level memory.
