  • Patent number: 5351797
Abstract: A system for retracting the drive spindle of a power tool includes a drive shaft which has a spline portion and a threaded portion. During normal operation, the drive spindle is rotated by interconnection of a drive gear with the splined portion of the drive spindle. When it is desired to retract the drive spindle, a drive spindle feed gear is locked into position and the threaded engagement of the drive spindle feed gear and the drive spindle causes the drive spindle to retract.

  • Patent number: 5331931
Abstract: An internal combustion engine (10) with intake valve (26) that may be kept open for a variable amount of time during the combustion cycle depending on operating conditions of the engine. Cam (22) rotates approximately 45.degree. clockwise to depress poppet (26) moving the intake valve to the open position. Cam (22) is held in the open position by lip (25) on seat (23) of the poppet valve. A step motor is used to rotate cam ( 22 ) to an open or closed position. The step motor may be deenergized while the poppet valve is in the open or shut position. In another embodiment the amount the valve is opened may be varied.

  • Patent number: 5314222
Abstract: A vacuum manipulator, comprising an elongated body with two segments of longitudinal ducts one of which opens at one end for connection to a suction source and the other one of which is adapted to be fitted with a suction nozzle, openings communicating the duct segments with a longitudinal guide channel, a spool valve mounted for longitudinal sliding in the guide channel, the bottom of the channel being flat with the face of the spool valve adjacent to the bottom having three contact zones for elevating the face relative to the bottom, one of the contact zones being central and being formed by a support wall which defines a generally enclosed area, the other two of the zones being located at opposite ends of the spool valve, a piston having an endless wall defining an enclosed space and being mounted for sliding engagement with the bottom of the guide channel for selective communication with the openings, a spring operable with the piston to urge the endless wall of the piston in generally sealing engagement

  • Patent number: 5299706
Abstract: An improved lid for a pail of the type in which chain or cordage is typically stored and shipped allows a user access to the chain or cordage within the pail without removing the entire lid and provides a means for retaining the end of the chain or cordage in an easily accessible position for the next user. The lid uses a uniquely shaped area of the lid defined by a perimeter of reduced thickness designed to be easily cut out or punched out with a hammer. The resulting hole allows easy hand access to the chain or cordage and has a notch at one side for hanging the loose end of the chain or cordage on for subsequent use.

  • Patent number: 5212350
Abstract: A flexible shielded cable (20). The cable includes an elongate flexible metal conductor (24) and a layer of a flexible dielectric material (26) disposed about the conductor. The cable has a flexible metallic shield (28) positioned about the dielectric material with the shield including a copper foil (30) having overlapping edges (36) and a copper, spirally served shield (32) about the foil. A layer of metal bonds together the overlapping edges, bonds the spirally served shield and the foil and closes the openings of the spirally served shield. A method of forming a metallic shield is also disclosed.
