  • Patent number: 6053732
Abstract: In a dental prophylaxis angle, an angle housing defines a main passageway and an ancillary passageway communicating therewith and extending at an substantial angle thereto. A drive shaft extends through the main passageway, while a cup holder is rotatably disposed in the ancillary passageway, the cup holder being drivingly coupled to the drive shaft. A flexible prophy cup is mounted to the cup holder, and a bearing is rotatably disposed in the main passageway about the drive shaft. The bearing has a snap-lock element projecting into a recess provided in the housing, thereby fixing a longitudinal position of the bearing with respect to the housing and holding the drive shaft in driving engagement with the cup holder. The prophy cup is coupled to the cup holder via a ball and socket joint and is provided in a region about the ball and socket joint with a flexible skirt defining an annular groove, the cup holder having an annular seat projecting into the groove.

  • Patent number: 6050608
Abstract: The fitting for the present invention comprises a fitting main body and a retaining ring, in which the fitting main body comprises an inner core having a plurality of large diameter portions form on the outer circumferetial surface and a flange and having a hole disposed to the circumferential surface of the retaining ring for attracting the retaining ring put over the top end of the plastic pipe to the flange; and the retaining ring, upon attracting operation applied thereto, moves the plastic pipe to the flange accompanying the retaining ring to insert the inner core relatively to the top end of the plastic pipe. The inner core diametrically enlarges the top end portion of the plastic pipe and compresses the top end portion in cooperation with the retaining ring. Therefore, the said fitting can simply and reliably connect the plastic pipe.

  • Patent number: 6048158
Abstract: A device withdraws and opens cases for CD and the like, including a pair of shells of complementary shape, hinged along a hinge axis along one edge of the shells. A swinging arm equipped with suction cups withdraws single cases from a storage device and transfers the cases in a vertical feeding plane over a conveying line leading to a packaging section. Further suction cups, carried by a take over member, grip the case just withdrawn acting on the shells and open the case by rotation of the shells about the hinge axis. Then the take over member is moved in horizontal direction towards the conveying line to transfer the case from the opening position to a position in which the opened case is released on the conveying line for further processing.

  • Patent number: 6047584
Abstract: A multipurpose head forming and finishing apparatus includes a support frame (3) forming, on a horizontal plane, an arc holding a pair of arms (3a, 3b) symmetrical with respect to a median vertical plane. The frame (3) has a clamp (4), operated in a horizontal direction, for gripping a pipe (2) in proximity of a head (2a) to be worked. The clamp (4) includes a stationary jaw (5) and a mobile jaw (6), slidably supported on the arms (3a, 3b) of the support frame (3) by respective coupling guides and members, the jaws closable on the median symmetry plane. A tool (26) is operated in a direction axial with respect to the pipe (2) held by the clamp (4).

  • Patent number: 6046399
Abstract: A roof assembly includes a plurality of insulation blocks disposed as a layer over a water-tight roofing membrane, a plurality of metal plates bonded to selected insulation blocks, each metal plate having at least one mounting bracket thereon for mounting at least one solar panels on the roof. Spacer struts are used to locate the solar panel at an optimum angle of an inclination relative to the roof. The use of metal plates bonded to the insulation blocks provides sufficient strength to withstand wind loads and avoids the cost and weight of conventional ballast systems.

  • Patent number: 6039169
Abstract: A multilevel storage device for CD cases includes at least two conveyors, upper and lower, respectively, leading to a feeding station which receives groups of containers having relative hinged edges suitably oriented. A station loads groups of cases on the lower conveyor and a transfer unit which picks up the groups of cases from a downstream end of said lower conveyor to the upper conveyor when sensor means detect absence of groups of cases at an upstream end of the upper conveyor. Presence of groups of cases at a downstream end of the upper conveyor, before the feeding station is detected by other sensor means.

  • Patent number: 6039668
Abstract: A planet gear has an input axle (1a), an outer ring (4) which presses planet wheels (6) radially against a central sun axle (2), the planet wheels (6) being rotatably mounted on stays (7), the diameters of which are smaller than the holes in the planet wheels (6). The input axle (1a) has a driver (1) with holes (3) for studs (5) on the outer ring (4), so that the rotation of the input axle (1a) is transferred via the driver (1) and the outer ring (4) to the planet wheels (6) and to the sun axle (2), whereby the stays (7) for the planet wheels (6) are disposed in such a manner that when the applied moment increases, the planet wheels (6) are pressed harder against the sun axle (2) and the outer ring (4) is similarly pressed harder against the planet wheels (6).

  • Patent number: 6032435
Abstract: A device for introducing sleeves into cases for compact discs and the like, includes an assembly for withdrawing each time a single sleeve from a storage device. The withdrawing assembly transfer the sleeves to a feeding surface, substantially horizontal, in the region of a line for feeding these sleeves to further processing devices. An inserting head with gripping means for keeping the sleeve fed to the feeding surface, and with folding rollers for folding two edges of the sleeve over fold-around pieces, takes over and inserts the sleeve into an underlying case. The inserting head is moved between a sleeves gripping position and a position in which it inserts the sleeve in the case, that is in open configuration on a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6029350
Abstract: A fiber reinforced composite flywheel for energy storage has a plurality of disks in the form of a coil produced of continuous hoop and radial fibers, each disk having a mix of fiber types in the hoop direction, relatively strong fibers disposed about an inner section of the disk, an intermediate section of the disk comprised of relatively strong and relatively lower strength fibers, and an outer portion having a mix of fibers fewer relatively strong fibers. A fiber reinforced composite flywheel, alternatively or in addition, has a higher volume of radial fibers disposed about the intermediate section of the disk, to increase radial strength in a banded area of the disk subject to increased radial stress. Preferably, the disk is composed with a 3-dimensional orthogonal weave architecture which allows the fibers to shear during weaving to provide minimum distortion of the spiral woven disk.

  • Patent number: 6030214
Abstract: The invention pertains to a device (10) for delivering a viscous fluid. The device features a housing (14), pistons (58,60) which act on containers (22,24) having the viscous fluid therein, a rotational drive unit (12) which moves the pistons (58,60) in a translational sense in the direction of a flow channel open towards the containers (22,24). The drive unit is arranged in a motor housing (81) separate from the housing (14). A gear assembly (68,70,72,76) converts the rotational drive motion into a translational motion of the pistons (58,60) towards a flow channel (52) which connects to a nozzle (30) and the delivery opening in the container (22,24). A coupling (82) is provided by which the rotational drive unit (12) can be decoupled from the gear assembly (68,70,72,76).
