Abstract: A radio terminal connection may be handed over from a serving base station associated with a serving cell to a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell served by a CSG base station in which only radio terminals belonging to the CSG are permitted to access and receive service from the CSG cell. Radio terminals in the serving cell are generally informed not to report to the serving base station signal quality measurements of signals transmitted by CSG base stations. But if a radio terminal in the serving cell is authorized to access and receive service from the CSG cell, then that radio terminal is instructed to report to the serving base station signal quality measurements of signals transmitted by the CSG base station. Based on that report, the connection may be handed over to the CSG base station. A central node provides a CSG authorization list identifying CSG authorized radio terminals to the serving base station when a listed CSG cell is a neighboring cell which the radio terminal is authorized to access.

Abstract: An integrated circuit includes a signal source and a signal destination linked by a signal path. Error correction codes (e.g. Hamming codes) are applied to the signals to be transmitted. Errors detected in the signal transmission are used to control an operating parameter of the signal path, such as signal voltage level, body bias voltage, clock frequency and/or temperature. The control applied is closed-loop feedback control seeking to maintain a finite non-zero predetermined error rate. The technique can also be used between a memory accessing integrated circuit and a separate memory integrated circuit. Furthermore, the technique can be used to provide fixed, but differing operating parameters for signal lines within a signal path.

The display control means displays on a display device at least a portion of a virtual world in which a plurality of objects are provided. The coordinate detecting means detects input coordinates input by the pointing device. The object selecting means, when the input coordinates indicate any of the plurality of objects, selects the indicated object as a target to be operated, and when the input coordinates indicate none of the plurality of objects, selects at least one object satisfying a predetermined condition of the plurality of objects as a target to be operated.

Abstract: A non-compression vessel, such as a digester, is employed for the chemical preconditioning of the chips followed by a fiberizing device to break the preconditioned chips down to fiber bundles, which are then washed before a high consistency chemical treatment. The digester may be one such as used in conventional chemical pulping of wood with or without screens for the extraction of chemical. If extracted this chemical could be recirculated to the digester with treatment in the circulation loop such as heating or the addition of dilution or other chemicals. This digester may be hydraulic or vapor phase (that is contain a vapor space within the digester), and operate in either a continuous or batch fashion. This digester allows for the discharge of material without the use of a screw mechanism. The digester treated material is then defiberized to convert the chips into course fiber bundles, which then is washed and dewatered.

Abstract: Provided is an optically uniform and high-quality optical glass that is free from the occurrence of striae when a precision press-molding preform is produced therefrom, and that is a fluorine-containing glass having a refractive index nd(1) wherein the refractive index nd(1) and a refractive index nd(2) are substantially equivalent to each other, said refractive index nd(2) being a refractive index of the fluorine-containing glass after the fluorine-containing glass is re-melted in a nitrogen atmosphere at 900° C. for 1 hour, cooled to its glass transition temperature and then cooled to 25° C. at a temperature decrease rate of 30° C./hour.
Abstract: A magnetic device includes a first magnetic layer having at least one magnetic material layer, a second magnetic layer having at least one magnetic material layer, a first nonmagnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer, a third magnetic layer including a ferromagnetic material with a fixed magnetization direction, and a pair of electrodes. The pair of electrodes are operable to pass a current through a laminated body including the first and second magnetic layers, the nonmagnetic layer, and the third magnetic layer.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a vertical alignment type liquid crystal panel. The vertical alignment type liquid crystal panel is provided with an active matrix substrate whereupon a light reflection pixel electrode for reflecting light and a light transmission pixel electrode for transmitting light are provided in each pixel section; a counter electrode substrate; and a liquid crystal layer made of a liquid crystal material having negative dielectric anisotropy. The counter electrode substrate includes a convex section so that the liquid crystal layer in the light reflection section has the thickness thinner than that in the liquid crystal layer of the light transmission section. A liquid crystal panel driving device carries out gray scale transition enhancement processing in which the input gray scale is corrected in accordance with gray scale transition.
Abstract: A control unit of a rotary electric machine control system includes a stationary switching module and a transitional switching module. The stationary switching module switches over a control mode from a rectangular wave voltage phase control mode to an overmodulation current control mode by using a current phase of a smoothed current produced by filtering of high harmonic components on an actual current in a stationary operation state. The transitional switching module switches the control mode from the rectangular wave voltage phase control mode to the overmodulation current control mode by using the current phase of the actual current in a transitional operation state. The control mode is switched over by comparing the current phase of the actual current with a transitional switching reference line, which is preset separately from a switching reference line used for comparison with a current phase of the smoothed current.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing location information for subscribers connected to a packet-switched mobile access network in connection with emergency calls made over a multimedia service network. An emergency request is received at the multimedia service network from a subscriber containing the calling number of the subscriber. In response thereto, a media gateway control function in the multimedia service network sends a location query including the calling number to a mobile positioning center in the mobile access network, which then can retrieve location information for the subscriber. After receiving location information from the mobile positioning center, the media gateway control function selects an emergency center and sends a location indication for the subscriber thereto in a circuit-switched control message for initiating an emergency call, according to prevailing standards.

Abstract: To optimize in advance a desired image quality determining pulse sequence parameter incorporated in an imaging scan, a preparation scan is adopted. The preparation scan is performed with the amount of at least one desired image quality parameter changed for each of plural preparatory images, so that a plurality of preparatory images at the desired same region of the object are acquired. For example, one such image quality parameter is TI (inversion time). The acquired preparatory scan data are processed into a plurality of preparatory images for display. A desired preparatory image is then selected from the plural preparatory images displayed, and the amount of the desired parameter used for that selected preparatory image is then set for use in the pulse sequence for a complete diagnostic imaging scan. Hence the desired image quality determining parameter of the pulse sequence is caused to have an optimum value before an actual complete diagnostic imaging scan.
