Abstract: Glycosaminoglycans derived from K5 polysaccharide having high anticoagulant and antithrombotic activity and useful for the control of coagulation and as antithrombotic agents are obtained starting from an optionally purified K5 polysaccharide by a process comprising the steps of N-deacetylation/N-sulfation, C5 epimerization, O-oversulfation, selective O-desulfation, 6-O-sulfation, N-sulfation, and optional depolymerization, in which said epimerization is performed with the use of the enzyme glucoronosyl C5 epimerase in solution or in immobilized form in the presence of divalent cations. New, particularly interesting antithrombin compounds are obtained by controlling the reaction time in the selective O-desulfation step and submitting the product obtained at the end of the final N-sulfation step to depolymerization.
Abstract: A variable speed blower for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) ventilation of patients includes two impellers in the gas flow path that cooperatively pressurize gas to desired pressure and flow characteristics. Thus, the blower can provide faster pressure response and desired flow characteristics over a narrower range of motor speeds, resulting in greater reliability and less acoustic noise.

Abstract: With the present invention, a fitting curve (f1) of the gamma curve (e1) arranged to be above a fitting curve of the gamma curve (e2), except in a region where the fitting curve (f1) shows a reflectivity of 0 and the fitting curve of the gamma curve (e2) shows a transmissivity of 0, and a gamma curve (e1) of reflective display and a gamma curve (e2) of transmissive display are obtained from measurement. Further, the fitting curve (f1) includes no gray scale inversion but at least one point of inflection (P1) where a sign of a differential coefficient is switched over. Thereby, it becomes possible to realize a liquid crystal display panel and a liquid crystal display device, for displaying images in a transmissive mode and a reflective mode, each of the liquid crystal display panel and the liquid crystal display device easily having an improvement in display quality of reflective display.

Abstract: A game apparatus performs game processing on the basis of operation data output from a first input device including a first acceleration sensor and an angular velocity sensor and a second input device including a second acceleration sensor. The game apparatus calculates an orientation of an object within a game space on the basis of a first acceleration and a second acceleration, and causes the object to make a predetermined motion on the basis of the angular velocity data.
Abstract: A hand-held Wii remote controller for a video game system is adapted to simulating motion control for a motorcycle, jet skis, or other vehicle steered by handlebars. The player holds the remote horizontally with one hand on each end, parallel to a TV display screen, and can control simulated motorcycle operations using inertial sensing. For example, rotating the handheld remote about its orthogonal X/Y/Z axes as pitch (throttle accelerate/decelerate), yaw (steering left/right), and roll (leaning left/right into a turn) can be used as control inputs. In addition, the player can emulate a more aggressive, real-world lean into turns by rocking side-to-side on an optional balance board.

Abstract: Example systems and methods described herein relate to a remote control including an image sensor disposed on a front end portion thereof. First and second markers produced by a light source are detected at the image sensor. A first middle point is calculated based on the detected first and second markers and a second middle point is calculated based on the first middle point and a difference in direction between a reference direction and a direction from the first detected marker to the second detected marker. A position pointed to by the remote control is calculated based on a difference between a reference point and the second middle point. An image signal is generated for an image based at least in part on the pointed-to position.
Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to vacuum insulating glass (VIG) units including infrared meltable glass frits, and/or methods of making the same. More particularly, certain example embodiments relate to increasing the amount of ferrous oxide in glass frits (e.g., lead-free glass frits) used to form edge seals such that the glass frits absorb an increased amount of IR energy. The techniques of certain example embodiments make it possible to expose some or all of the VIG intermediate assembly to infrared source(s), since the glass frit will heat up faster than the substrates thereby reducing the likelihood of the first and/or second substrate melting and losing heat treatment strength. In certain example embodiments, the frit's glass redox (FeO/Fe2O3) preferably is at least about 0.02 higher than either (or the higher) of the substrates' glass redox (FeO/Fe2O3), more preferably at least about 0.04 higher, and most preferably at least about 0.06 higher.
Abstract: An antenna diversity arrangement and a radio base station in a frequency divided mobile cellular system with sectorized cells are described. Space diversity or polarization diversity is provided by providing at least two branches. In accordance with the invention an operator frequency band is divided into a plurality of bands for transmitting and receiving. All sectors are branch wise combined in a respective tower mounted amplifier. TX signals within the TX bands belonging to a TMA are diplexed and simultaneously transmitted on the sectors. RF signals received on one branch of a sector are combined with RF signals received on the corresponding sector in the other branches. The RX signals so combined are fed to the radio base station on a single feeder together with the TX signals fed in the opposite direction from transceivers of the base station to the same TMA. A sector may be assigned two or more TX frequencies. Frequency hopping within each TX band may optionally be provided (synth hopping).
Abstract: A coated article is provided so as to have a fairly high visible transmission (TY or Tvis) to sheet resistance (Rs) ratio (i.e., a ratio Tvis/Rs). The higher this ratio, the better the coated article's combined functionality of providing for both good solar performance (e.g., ability to reflect and/or absorb IR radiation) and high visible transmission. In certain example embodiments, coated articles herein may be heat treatable. Coated articles herein may be used in the context of insulating glass (IG) window units, architectural or residential monolithic window units, vehicle window units, and/or the like.

Abstract: Locating and characterising a magnetised body involves moving a magnetic gradient tensor sensor relative to the magnetised body along a profile, or allowing the magnetised body to move along a profile past the sensor. Magnetic gradient tensor measurements are obtained at points along the profile. A rotational invariant calculated from the eigenvalues of the magnetic gradient tensor measurements is then used to locate and/or characterize the body. The rotational invariant can be the scaled moment of a point dipole representation of the magnetised body, or one third of the square root of the scaled moment. The rotational invariant is modelled and sufficient measurements obtained to over-determine parameters of the model. A system of linear equations resulting from a model of the gradient tensor elements is then solved using the determined values of parameters.

Abstract: A hybrid vehicle control ECU calculates an estimated EV travelable distance based on a minimum travel cost and a usable charge amount of a battery, when a next external charge point, at which an external power source is available for charging, is set. The minimum travel cost indicates a minimum value of electric power amount consumed by a battery when a vehicle travels a unit distance. If the estimated EV travelable distance is longer, electric motor travel is selected estimating that it is possible to reach the next external charge point. If a remaining distance is longer and a present SOC is higher than a usable SOC lower limit, hybrid travel is selected. If the present SOC is lower than the usable SOC lower limit, a constant SOC travel is selected.
