  • Patent number: 5997230
Abstract: An explosive bolt is made of electrically non-conductive plastic material and is provided with a bore accommodating a low order deflagrating squid having only sufficient explosive energy to shatter a non-metallic bolt insulation surrounds the squib and fills the center bore and seals the squib in the center bore. There is a detonator for detonating the squib. Detonation of the squib is initiated by electrical current from an outside source electrically connected to the squib. A device has a stationary part and a removable part connected by the bolt.

  • Patent number: 5975580
Abstract: A method of systematizing a process for a user, in which the process has steps. Each step has a corresponding tab. The user sequentially performs the steps of the process in a sequence defined by an order of tabs. One step is linked to a subsequent step. Performing the step will affect the subsequent step.

  • Patent number: 5971284
Abstract: A method and apparatus of regulating cycles of a burner in a forced air heating system. A control unit uses a sensor at an output of a heat exchanger to make measurements of a temperature of air output from the heat exchanger. The control unit observes temperature measurements, after the burner has turned on. It initializes a confirmation interval when two consecutive temperature measurements are the same. If the temperature is the same at an end of the confirmation interval. The invention interrupts firing of the burner for an interrupt interval. The interrupt interval is insufficient to allow the heat exchanger to cool below a temperature useful for heating below which the circulation fan would shut off.

  • Patent number: 5960639
Abstract: To regulate a cooling system operation, a value from an energy value sensor such as a thermostat or pressuretrol is sensed and, if the value warrants a call for compressor operation, the call is made. The last compressor off-call-time is stored in memory. If the off-call-time is less than a short-cycle interval, the compressor is delayed to allow substantial compressor pressure equalization. Compressor operation is delayed further for a percentage of the off-call-time. compressor on-time is also measured and, if on for a substantial interval, the compressor is given a short rest. Improved efficiency results.

  • Patent number: 5899502
Abstract: A method of making an individualized restaurant menu for a customer desirous of avoiding ingestion of customer-selected ingredients. A database is loaded into a computer. Names of all the ingredients used by the restaurant are loaded into the database. A plurality of recipes are loaded into the database. Each recipe comprises ingredients selected from the ingredients, named in the database. The customer selects any ingredients the customer wishes to avoid. The customer's name is entered into the database in association with the names of ingredients which the customer has selected as to-be-avoided. The database of recipes is automatically searched for the ingredients-to-be-avoided. All available recipes not containing ingredients-to-be-avoided are printed on a menu, customized for the customer. The menu includes the customer's name, the names of ingredients-to-be-avoided, and a list of names of servings of selected available recipes.

  • Patent number: 5882415
Abstract: The invention is an electron-beam vaporization installation for coating structural components made of extreme-heat-resistant alloys (super alloys), especially turbine blades, with so-called thermal barrier coatings. The invention divides the continuous process principle for this coating task with extreme thermal stress for the substrata. The invention divides the thermally high stressed chambers by a partition with a slot. As a result of this the heating chamber and the coating chamber are thermally decoupled from the room for the transport system of the substrata carriage. A further characteristic of the invention is that the carriage for the transport of the substrata through the installation is cooled. For this purpose at the specific work positions the cooling system of the carriage is coupled with the exterior cooling circuits by a leakproof coupling system. The movement of the substrata is done hydraulically and is coupled with the exterior hydraulic circuits in a similar manner as the cooling system.

  • Patent number: 5862715
Abstract: A self-contained knob contains a bushing which fits on a control shaft of a control element and extends axially through each of an annular disk and a pedestal. The annular disk slidingly rests upon the pedestal. The disk and pedestal contain between them a pair of concentric, radially separated tracks of spring loaded balls and cavities. The balls momentarily engage the cavities in arc movement as the knob is turned. The pedestal receives at the bottom and is prevented from rotating by a fastener of the control element.

  • Patent number: 5833415
Abstract: A self-centering wall anchor 10, 100 having an outwardly threaded hollow cylindrical body 101, 111 with a flanged proximal end and a cutting distal end. The hollow cylindrical body diminishes in diameter toward the distal cutting end 20, 110 in the form of a pointed dome with a pointed centering tip 22, 103 at the center axis of the anchor. An inner bore 14, 105 extends continuously from its opening at the proximal end of the anchor along the center axis of the cylindrical body to the centering tip at the distal end where it is partially closed because of the disposition of the centering tip at the center axis. The distal end of the bore is in the form of a deep flute 21, 105a which communicates and is part of the inner bore and is defined at its outer edges by a leading cutting edge 23, 107 and a trailing edge 24, 108 of the single cutter, with the leading cutting edge extending from the pointed tip in a curved distention.

  • Patent number: 5794817
Abstract: An article is inserted through the upper front of a dispenser, over a first shelf, a fall space, and a second shelf while it is supported by the first shelf at about the same height as the second shelf. The item is then moved off the first shelf so that it pivots on the second shelf and moves down between the shelves. It is caught by one end on a flexible portion of a downward and forward sloping curvilinear wall having a longitudinal access slot through the wall, and supported at the lower part of the dispenser, forward of the front of the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5775582
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving heating system efficiency. An electronic circuit senses a firing signal from a boiler energy value sensor such as a thermostat or pressuretrol. The circuit prevents the boiler energy value sensor from firing the burner, while the circuit senses an energy value of the outflow line at the boiler. The circuit monitors the outflow energy value and records the outflow energy value at a first time of the firing signal. The circuit then continually monitors the outflow energy until it detects an energy drop from the initial outflow energy value. The circuit responds to the energy drop by firing the burner. The invention self adaptively responds to present thermal load, reduces the number of on-off cycles, increases each burner run time while reducing total run time, improves fuel consumption, and reduces air pollution.

  • Patent number: 5765449
Abstract: A pair of coiled springs are mounted in tandem in a housing with their adjacent ends extending radially for retention in a housing permitting slight radial movement of the adjacent ends. The outer ends of the springs extend radially and are axially and circumferentially spaced apart and retained in the housing for slight circumferential movement. The outer ends of the spring are moved by tensioning them in opposite directions to increase the inner diameter of the annulus formed by the springs to receive a shaft upon which the springs tighten when the spring ends are released from tension.
