Abstract: A laundry conditioning product and method of making the product. The product employs a substrate of non-woven polypropylene or other polyolefin non-woven fabric having a water absorption capacity of less than 400%. The substrate is impregnated with a softening and conditioning composition including one of the di-long chain alkyl, di-short chain alkyl ammonium salts or cationic imidazolinium salts. The laundry conditioner works in a conventional dryer. The weight ratio of the clothes conditioner impregnating the fabric to the non-woven substrate is in the range of 2:1 to 0.5:1. The substrate is arranged in a butterfly configuration including a plurality of sheets bonded together along a substantially centrally located line with the edges of the sheets being free from each other.

In addition to tending to inhibit firm adherence to the charging compartment walls of the bentonite, which is advantageously in separately agglomerated bead form, and promoting release thereof from such walls, the siliconate also aids in controlling the foaming activity of the built synthetic organic detergent and strengthening the bentonite agglomerates.

Abstract: A heavy duty laundering and textile softening detergent composition, in particulate form, useful for automatic machine washing of laundry in water, especially hot water, and readily dispensable from a charging compartment of an automatic washing machine (by action of water being fed through such compartment) includes a synthetic organic detergent, a builder for such detergent and a laundry softening proportion of bentonite, with which there is present a dispensing assisting proportion, at least 0.15%, of a siliconate or similarly functioning derivative of such siliconate. In addition to inhibiting adherence to the charging compartment walls of the bentonite, which is advantageously in separately agglomerated bead form, and promoting release thereof from such walls, the siliconate also aids in controlling the foaming activity of the built synthetic organic detergent and strengthening the bentonite agglomerates.

The absorbent article is formed by depositing portions of the fluid absorbent material on the backing sheet, placing the cover sheet over the absorbent material and the backing sheet, and pressing the cover sheet towards the exposed parts of the backing sheet to cause bonding of the fibers in each sheet and attaching the cover sheet to the backing sheet to form pockets in which the absorbent material is stored.

Abstract: A hydrophilic open-celled poly (urea/urethane) sponge derived from a prepolymer produced by the reaction of a polyoxyalkylene polyol with a stoichiometric excess of an organic polysocyanate, said sponge containing substantially uniformly distributed throughout the pores thereof a readily releasable skin care composition and methods of making same and using same for treating skin.It has of course long been known to treat the skin for various purposes by applying thereto a skin care composition, such application being commonly effected by first impregnating an absorbent fibrous pad or sponge applicator with the composition, or supplying a quantity of such composition to the surface of the pad or sponge applicator, and then transferring said composition to the skin by wiping and rubbing same with the applicator.

Abstract: Guar gum as an exemplification of cis-1,2-diol polysaccharides is first hydrated then thickened by cross-linking with borax and finally dried to powder to flake form, preferably by freeze drying. The resulting particles can absorb up to 100 times their weight or more of aqueous fluids such as urine. Absorbent articles, such as disposable diapers, bandages, and the like are formed with the borax-cross-linked guar gum as absorbent. In a preferred diaper the dry absorbent particles of the borax cross-liked guar gum are placed in the cells of a cellular or bubble-type substrate.

Abstract: An activated peroxy compound bleaching composition includes a peroxy bleaching compound, such as sodium perborate, and an activator for such bleaching compound, which improves the bleaching effect thereof, which activator is a sulfonyl halide, such as an alkoxybenzenesulfonyl halide, preferably an ortho- or para-substituted methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride, such as p-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride. Preferably, the peroxy bleaching compound and activator are included in a synthetic organic detergent composition such as one based on anionic and/or nonionic normally solid detergent(s), preferably also with builder salt(s) present, and bleaching is effected during the washing of fabrics or articles made thereof, in wash waters of various temperatures, even in water which is only warm. The bleaching compound and activator may also be included in pre-soak compositions.
