  • Patent number: 8300737
Abstract: A method, a system, a wireless device and a computer program product are provided. A process for decoding transmitted symbols in MIMO systems is provided. The received point coordinates and estimated candidate coordinates are represented by a reduced bit representation naturally dividing each dimension into uniformly sized bit segments. A bounded region surrounding the received point is defined in the total number of dimensions, the bounded region being a hypercube. For each candidate, an elimination process is carried out including : determining a position of the candidate to be inside or outside the bounded region, eliminating the candidate if it is outside, storing it if it is inside, adding a further bit thereby reducing a size of the bounding region; repeating the elimination process for the candidates stored as potential solutions until a single solution is obtained; determining the transmitted symbols from the single solution found.

  • Patent number: 8292597
Abstract: A gear pump comprises a casing having an inlet, an interior, and an outlet. An inlet gear is positioned at the inlet and pressurizes fluid received at the inlet. A drive gear is positioned at the outlet of the casing, the drive gear receiving fluid pressurized by the inlet gear to output pressurized fluid at the outlet. A speed-reduction gear is meshed to the drive gear and connected to the at least one inlet gear, the speed-reduction gear having a greater number of teeth than the drive gear to reduce a rotational speed from the drive gear to the inlet gear, such that the inlet gear has a lower speed that the drive gear. An input shaft is coupled to the drive gear and receives a rotational input to actuate the drive gear.

  • Patent number: 8296370
Abstract: A system and method routes messages based on an intended recipient's availability to receive messages. Each network user's current status is determined by tracking when the user activates and deactivates an auto-reply feature. The user's current status, return date and alternate contact(s) are specified in the auto-reply and stored and updated on a user status server which periodically communicates to each user the current status information for each contact listed in that user's address book. When the current status information indicates that the intended recipient is unavailable, message routing options are presented to the sender. These options include sending the message to the user regardless of the intended recipient's current unavailability, not sending the message at all, routing the message to at least one specified alternate contact, sending the message to the intended recipient while sending a copy of the message to the alternate contact.

  • Patent number: 8283166
Abstract: Diphtheria and Pseudomonas infections are very common worldwide. The toxins involved in the pathogenesis of those diseases act by inactivating the elongation factor-2 (EF-2), therefore blocking protein synthesis and leading to cell death. Diphthamide formation on EF-2 is a prerequisite step in the inactivation of EF-2, and Dph proteins have been identified as modulating this process. The present application concerns Dph2 deletion mutant genes and proteins and their uses in vitro and in vivo.

  • Patent number: 8283140
Abstract: Knot rejects from chemical pulping processes are subjected to acid hydrolysis or an enzymatic hydrolysis treatment. The resultant hydrolysate is enriched with glucose, representing a value-added raw material for products using hexoses. The residue, separated from the said hydrolysate after the acid hydrolysis or enzyme treatment, consists of mainly knots or chips. The residue has a much improved aesthetic appearance which can be readily used as value-added raw materials for mulch or similar applications. The residue could also be extracted to obtain high value antioxidants and other nutraceutical chemicals such as lignans or can be utilized according to currently known practices including recooking, burning and depositing.
