  • Patent number: 8295410
Abstract: A method and system of decoding a convolutionally encoded data block having known padding bits. A Viterbi decoder is constrained to a state corresponding to k?1 padding bits immediately adjacent to data bits of the data block, where k is a constraint length of a convolution encoder used to encode the data block. Symbols of the encoded data block that have influence only from the padding bits are discarded.

  • Patent number: 8151422
Abstract: The vane assembly has mating vane support and vane ring, the vane ring having a plurality of annularly interspaced radial loading elements which, when the vane ring is assembled to the vane support, are in a resiliently flexed state and exert corresponding annularly interspaced and outward-oriented radial loads against the vane support, thereby restraining relative radial movement between the vane ring and the vane support during operation of the gas turbine engine. The method includes flexing each of the radial loading elements into the resiliently flexed state simultaneously by sliding the radial loading elements against corresponding lead-in tapers. This can be achieved using a guide tool which includes a plurality of segments bearing the lead-in tapers and which is previously assembled to the vane support.

  • Patent number: 8107804
Abstract: An energy accumulator system for accumulating heat from a heat source for subsequent supply to a heat demand, comprises an energy accumulator having a storage material in a heat-exchange relation with the heat source so as to store heat produced by the heat source. A controller is connected to the energy accumulator to obtain temperature data with respect to the storage material, and to the heat source so as to selectively actuate the heat source. An energy level calculator is associated with the controller to determine a storage capacity in the energy accumulator as a function of temperature data of the storage material. An operation identifier determines when to store energy in the energy accumulator as a function of the storage capacity and of condition data pertaining to the heat source. The controller actuates the energy accumulator and the heat source to store heat in the energy accumulator.

  • Patent number: 8106348
Abstract: The present invention is based on the principle of depth of penetration of electromagnetic rays. In the case of semiconductor mono-crystalline materials, such as silicon, the depth of penetration of a light ray is proportional to its wavelength. Using this phenomenon, the present invention consists of a pixel having three electrodes that can discriminate between the colors red, green, and blue, and thereby reconstruct a color image.
