Abstract: A workpiece is manufactured using a magnetron source that has an optimized yield of sputtered-off material as well as service life of the target. Good distribution values of the layer on the workpiece are obtained that are stable over the entire target service life, and a concave sputter face in a configuration with small target-to-workpiece distance is combined with a magnet system to form the magnetron electron trap in which the outer pole of the magnetron electron trap is stationary and an eccentrically disposed inner pole with a second outer pole part is rotatable about the central source axis.

Abstract: The invention relates to a non-refillable tamper evident liquid container closure assembly which is applied to a mouth and neck portion of a container for liquid. The closure assembly provides a sleeve which is adapted to lie around the mouth and provided with three projection means projecting inwardly of the sleeve, the projection means are movable radially of the sleeve in a stiffly resilient manner and are engageable with an outer lip portion of the bottle neck. The assembly also includes a valve seat body which is receivable within the neck portion of the bottle, and is surrounded by the sleeve.
Abstract: An ultrafiltration membrane is modified to exhibit low protein fouling and yet maintains a greater fraction of the original membrane permeability and retention properties after modification. This is achieved by grafting monomer onto the surface of a highly photoactive membrane such as polyethersulfone, via the process of dipping the polymeric membrane into a solution containing one or more monomers and a chain transfer agent, removing the membrane from the solution, securing the membrane inside of a quartz vessel contained within another vessel of liquid filter, and irradiating the membrane with a UV light at a wavelength between the range of 280 nm and 300 nm. High density grafting and shorter grafted monomer chain length result in low protein fouling and retention of permeability.

Abstract: In an aspirating and dispensing/spraying device, a holder is screwed onto a tube, connected to a liquid supply line, in such a way that it is displaceable along the tube by rotation. The tube is surrounded at a distance by a coaxial sleeve, which is solidly anchored in the holder, having a discharge opening on its front end, which is conically narrowed, whose edge surrounds the front end of the tube, which carries a outlet opening, separated by a narrow annular gap from the tube. The sleeve carries a connecting piece laterally, to which a pressurized gas supply line is connected and which discharges eccentrically into the space between the sleeve and the tube, so that pressurized gas flowing in receives angular momentum. When the gas flows out of the annular gap, it mixes intensively with the liquid coming out of the outlet opening and forms a discharge cone made of a fine, symmetrical aerosol with the liquid.
Abstract: A test apparatus and method for predicting the minimum runnable flow of a curtain coating fluid by forcing the coating fluid out of a small round tube opening with less flow rate than is required for momentum to exceed the contracting forces of surface tension. The minimum flow rate is a measure of the combined effects of the surface tension, viscosity, elasticity, and dilitant behavior of the coating fluid which influence the stretch and acceleration of the fluid, that in turn, characterize the runnability of the fluid for a full scale curtain coating process. The velocity of the coating as it lands can also be determined from the flow rate and acceleration to predict whether the coating fluid will run or not before it is applied to a web or substrate.
Abstract: Coating apparatus for disk-shaped workpieces has a transport chamber with a workpiece transport configuration having two linearly driven transport rams connected to a rotational axis. The rams are within shell lines of a rotation body about the axis and are extended/retracted in the same direction as the axis. A workpiece receiver is at the ends of each ram and two operating openings communicate the transport chamber with stations of the apparatus including a coating station. Surface normals of the openings are in the direction of shell lines. A pump with pump opening communicates with the transport chamber and coating station. At least one of the rams has a closure for closing the pump opening and forming a seal therefor.
Abstract: A resealing arrangement for a beverage container having a top with an aperture to discharge beverage, includes a main cap over the container top, having a threaded neck with an opening for discharging the beverage. A seal hermetically connected to the main cap, extends against the container to hermetically seal with the container. A locking sleeve is connected to the main cap for fixing the main cap to the beverage container with sufficient force to resist pressure from, and to maintain pressure in the beverage container. A secondary cap is threaded to the neck and an anti-rotation projection extending from the main cap can be used to resist co-rotation of the main and secondary caps.
Abstract: Method for producing substrates charged with materials, including placing the substrate into an evacuated vacuum container. The substrate is exposed to a reactive gas which is adsorbed on the surface. The surface with the adsorbed reactive gas is exposed to a low-energy plasma discharge with ion energy EI0 on the surface of the substrate of 0<EI0≦20 eV; and an electron energy Eeo of 0 eV<Eeo≦100 eV. The adsorbed reactive gas is allowed to react at least with the cooperation of plasma-generated ions and electrons.
Abstract: An operating head for automatic machine tools of the type mounted on a structure for moving along a set of three Cartesian axes having a first support, fitted to the structure for rotation around a first axis, and a chuck unit fitted to the first support, wherein the chuck unit is interchangeable and projects from the first support, and is designed to allow angular positioning around a second axis orthogonal to the first axis. The first support includes a power transmission system for the chuck unit. The connection of the chuck unit to the first support permits changing from rough to finish work by simply replacing the chuck unit, rather than replacing the entire operating head.
Abstract: I.V. catheter assembly was a catheter with a distal needle for insertion into a blood vessel a portion of the catheter. An adapter with a self-sealing or self-closing plug is connected to the catheter, proximally of the distal needle. A proximal needle that can couple to the distal needle is in a guard tube on the other side of the plug. In use the proximal needle is pushed through the plug and into coupling engagement with the distal needle so the distal needle can be inserted into a blood vessel. The coupled needles are then withdrawn and shielded in the guard tube. The guard tube is then disconnected from the adapter and the adapter can be used to discharge blood from, or supply fluid to the blood vessel.

Abstract: A paint activity tray has a first section with a workspace at least partly surrounded by a channel for holding excess water and a second section with recesses holding containers for water and watercolor paint blocks. A container with a handle holding paint brushes to drip dry is provided in one embodiment. The paint activity tray protects surrounding area from spills and drips since all of the components for making a watercolor painting are contiguous, and the containers for water and paint are securely held in recesses of the tray.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical waveguide includes shaping a substrate of organic material, applying at least one intermediate layer by a first vacuum coating process onto the substrate and applying a waveguide layer by means of a second vacuum coated process onto the intermediate layer. The at least one intermediate layer is applied so that only a negligible part of light energy reaches an interface surface between the intermediate layer and the substrate.
Abstract: When a call out is done by the destination communications device (11), the calling access server (15) generates the call-out packet, which packet is then sent to the called access server (15) through the Internet (16). The called access server (15) sends a ringing signal to the destination communications device (11). When the destination communications device (11) responds to the ringing signal, then the called access server (15) generates an acknowledge packet and returns the packet to the calling access server (15) through the Internet (16). The calling access server (15) then begins charging, and returns the acknowledge signal to the calling communications device for starting talk over the telephone. After that, talk packets are exchanged through the Internet (16). Finally, the termination is generated when the telephone call termination is detected with either of the calling and called access servers (15), and the termination of the telephone call is performed.
Abstract: A semi-fitted furniture slipcover covers a piece of seating furniture having at least one arm and at least one T-cushion with a projection extending in front of the arm. The slipcover has back, front, seat, arm, lower and side panels that are connected to each other. The lower, seat, side and arm panels each having portions adjacent the arm front and T-cushion projection that form a T-cushion assembly. The assembly has a slot between the arm front and the T-cushion projection and is form fit. The assembly also has no part that extends under the T-cushion.

The mounting defines a positioning plane for the substrate and a magnet arrangement is on one side of the positioning plane. Abstract: Fire-retardant sheet element can be composed of several fire protection glass plates (2, 3). Lateral edges (9, 10) of adjacent glass plates (2, 3) therein abut one another. Into the interspace (26) between lateral edges (9, 10) a sealing configuration (7) is installed. This comprises an addition element (22) and elastic sealing elements (23, 24). The glass plates (2, 3) comprise several glass panes (16) and interspaced fire protection layers (18). These fire protection layers (18) do not extend up to the edges (9, 10) and are sealed in the regions of the lateral edges with a barrier material (20). No additional frame elements for covering the interspace (26) and for sealing are necessary.
