  • Patent number: 4091915
Abstract: In the packaging of dispensing spoons with bottles in containers, the spoons are oriented by means of protuberances on shank portions thereof extending normal to the shank in the same direction as the hollow side of the spoon bowl. The spoons are tilted longitudinally either while falling off the end of a conveyor or by a downwardly curved conveyor section. Properly oriented spoons are caught by a wire extending above the conveyor during the tilting to hang the spoons on the wire in a single orientation.

  • Patent number: 4092557
Abstract: An image intensifier tube of the proximity focus type has a transparent cathode window with a curved inner surface and an anode window formed by a fiber optics plate having an inner surface curved to be substantially complementary to the cathode window inner surface. The arrangement mitigates the so-called "chicken-wire" effect and other flaws inherent in intensifiers using fiber optics at both the cathode and the anode ends. It is cheaper in manufacture and may be made of smaller depth, thereby simplifying its incorporation in existing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4090163
Abstract: An elongated bimetal member has a transverse curvature opposing temperature warp and a longitudinal curvature aiding temperature warp. The transverse curvature maintains the member straight in a longitudinal direction until the sum of the longitudinal temperature warp forces and the bias of the longitudinal curvature exceed the retaining forces of the transverse curvature.

  • Patent number: 4087837
Abstract: A system is disclosed for forming a video representation of an X-ray shadow picture of a body. The system comprises an X-ray source, an X-ray screen, a video circuit with scanning means and display means, and a plate positioned between the X-ray source and the body. The plate has a transparency to X-radiation varying over its surface for spatially coding the X-rays. The system includes means in the video circuit for decoding the signal produced by the scanning means so that in the picture produced by the display means, the influence of the scattered radiation caused by the body is substantially eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4086309
Abstract: A method for sealing cracks and cavities in different kinds of building constructions, such as building constructions in rock, concrete, brickwork and timber is disclosed, according to which holes communicating with the cracks or cavities are driven into the building construction. These holes are sealed outwardly and put in connection with a vacuum source so that the water present in the cracks or cavities is sucked by the negative pressure in the direction towards the holes. Crack sealing material e.g. cement, epoxy tar, setting plastic, silicate based sealant or the like, is then applied to the cracks or cavities and is, due to the negative pressure prevailing in them, drawn into its sealing positions in the building construction, where it is allowed to harden or set under the influence of the negative pressure.

  • Patent number: 4083485
Abstract: An improved combination shipping and storage container which comprises an inner container having at least one product receiving cell which is positioned within a removable outer shell which has an open top and an open bottom. The outer shell is removable from the inner container by means of a plurality of notches formed in opposite sides of the upper portion of the inner container which permits the outer shell to be lifted upwardly and removed from the inner container so that the outer shell can be reshipped to the original user and reused with a new inner container. After the outer shell is removed from the inner container, the inner container structure may be used to contain the products for storage purposes at a warehouse location. Also disclosed is a new and novel method for packaging a product utilizing the new and novel container here and before described.

  • Patent number: 4079194
Abstract: A data entry pad for the entry of two-dimensional graphical data to a communication system includes a resistive grid area to which a conductive layer may be selectively contacted so that graphical data can be generated by external resistance measuring electronic circuitry. The resistive grid area is formed by a pattern of resistive inking on a base and is separated from the conductive layer by a foamed thermoplastic insulating separator. High resistance bands surround the grid area so as to linearize its output values.
