Abstract: A non-woven fabric or film of thermoplastic material has a pattern impressed on its surface so that it has a more pleasing appearance. The film is pressed between the patterned surfaces of two mold bands and is passed through an electromagnetic field which heats a susceptor material in the film to soften the fabric or film so that the pattern will be impressed in it.
Abstract: A tomogram is constructed from a plurality of profiles by means of back projection, the effect of the point spread function being eliminated by analog convolution with a suitable one- or two-dimensional function.
Abstract: Dyeable and dyed polymer-coatings on metal articles such as sliders on slide fasteners, buttons, buckles, clasps, nuts, bolts, hooks, etc. are disclosed which include a substantial quantity of active proton acceptor groups relative to the number of polymer molecules in order to provide adequate dye pick-up.
Abstract: In a woven slide fastener employing spaced coupling elements molded on connecting threads wherein the weft thread loops around the connecting threads between each element to secure the coupling elements to the edge of the tape, the connecting threads are reinforced between the elements by molded projections, sheaths, webs, or the like integral with the coupling elements. Additionally there are disclosed offset heel portions of coupling element legs to increase slider flange engaging surfaces.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for pre-processing by means of analogue techniques radiological information obtained by exposing a subject at various spaced positions on one side of this subject to an out-fanning, substantially flat beam of penetrating radiation. The resultant ray transmissions on the other side of the subject are recorded on a record medium as continuous and analogue signals located along a collection of recording paths each having a predetermined trajectory and a spatial orientation related to an associated position of exposure. The radiological information thus recorded is then scanned and read-out along another collection of adjacent scanning paths each having a predetermined trajectory which intersects different recording paths and likewise having a spatial orientation related to the associated position of exposure.
Abstract: Each of the carrier tapes of a slide fastener include respective pairs of superimposed layers or plies of highly oriented polymer through which stitching threads are secured to attach coupling elements to each tape. The molecular orientation of each of the superimposed layers is at an oblique angle to the inner edge of the tapes with the orientation of one layer being transverse to the orientation of the other layer to prevent tearing of the stitches from the tapes.
Abstract: An apparatus for tomography, comprising an X-ray or gamma-ray source, at least one detector, and an image reconstruction apparatus. The detector is a spatially two-dimensional, continuous detector large enough to form a complete picture of the projection of the object section thereon, taking into consideration the place of the object section and of the source of radiation relative to the detector. The detector is connected by optical or fibre-optical means to a luminance intensifier tube. This tube may be coupled, either optically or fibre-optically, to a television pick-up tube whose output is coupled to the image reconstruction apparatus. In one form of the invention the detector is an X-ray screen, which is preferably concave towards the source of radiation.
Abstract: A substantially tubular-shaped ozone generator embodying an inner electrode, a coaxial outer electrode surrounding the inner electrode and a tube member formed of dielectric material arranged between the inner electrode and the outer electrode. Within the tube member formed of dielectric material there is arranged a substantially cylindrical core provided at its outer surface with one or a number of substantially helically-shaped grooves extending in the axial direction of the core and forming a throughpass channel for the medium to be ozonized and the ozone which is generated.
Abstract: An apparatus for converting patterns of intensity-modulated scanning lines, each pattern representing an X-ray picture of an object when irradiated by a substantially flat beam of X-rays, into electrical signals, wherein such pattern is projected onto the target of a storage type camera tube having deflection means arranged for scanning said pattern along a plurality of scanning paths, each scanning path extending substantially transverse relative to the longitudinal axis of the image, and information derived from each one of said transverse scanning paths being individually processed.
Abstract: A binder seal or reinforcing and finishing strip for the end of a slide fastener has an outer layer of Nylon 6 and an inner layer of a blend of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6-6. The seal is clear permitting the color of the slide fastener to be visible therethrough.
Abstract: A method and a device for swivelling a spray nozzle, especially for spraying concrete, over a sector between two turning positions. The speed of the swivelling movement is kept constant, regardless of the nozzle attitude. By overriding an automatic swivel control unit, the turning positions can be replaced, and once the override ceases, automatic swivelling resumes between the new turning positions.

Abstract: Trouser-fly pieces are sewn to a continuous slide fastener chain and at the same time are surged along a curved edge. Variable spacing between the surged curved edge and the line or lines of stitches sewing the fly pieces to the fastener chain is made by selective puckering of each fly piece between two sewing mechanisms. The trailing end of each fly piece is lifted during the sewing to permit the positioning of the next fly piece against a stop.
