  • Patent number: 6000444
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling bulk material, in which an objective filling weight for filling bulk material stored in a storage portion of a filling object is divided to a first stage objective filling weight and a second a second stage objective filling weight. The method consists of setting an opening/closing mechanism provided on the storage portion to a predetermined opening degree and filling the bulk material from the storage portion to the filling object until the first stage objective filling weight is reached, and then activating the opening/closing mechanism so as to close from the predetermined opening degree. A closing travel distance of the opening/closing mechanism in a certain minute time interval, and a filling weight of bulk material are then detected, and based on these detected values, the fluidity of the bulk material in such a minute time interval is calculated.

  • Patent number: 5989608
Abstract: A food container for cooking through use of a microwave oven includes a container adapted to contain food and having a hole and a pressure regulation valve attached to the food container to close the hole. The pressure regulation valve includes a cover film having an area sufficient to cover the hole, an adhesive layer applied over the surface of the cover film facing the food container, and a separator film disposed between the adhesive layer and the food container and having an area larger than that of the hole but smaller than that of the cover film. When food contained in the container is cocked in a microwave oven, the food is heated so that moisture is produced from the food. Until the vapor pressure within the food container reaches a predetermined level, the pressure regulation valve remains closed. When the vapor pressure within the food container reaches the predetermined level, the cover film partially separates from the food container in order to relieve the vapor pressure.

  • Patent number: 5819004
Abstract: A method and system in which a user manually changes the quality of portions of video frames after the frames have been previously encoded. Regions of one or more frames of video are selected to have an increased quality, a decreased quality, or a quality which should not be altered. After the regions are defined by a user, the frame of video is digitally re-encoded and inserted into the digitally encoded data stream in place of the previously encoded data. In order to easily remove a previously encoded frame from the data steam and replace it with a newly encoded frame having regions of quality defined by the user, it is preferable to have the newly encoded frame consume the same number of bits as the previously encoded frame. Accordingly, if the user desires a region of a frame to have an increased quality, the extra bits necessary to provide the increased quality must be taken from other areas of the frame. This is accomplished by an automatic process which is transparent to the user.

  • Patent number: 5770631
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the production of connected microgel particles. According to the process, starting microgel particles having particle sizes of 100-0.01 .mu.m and a particle size distribution whose standard deviation is not greater than 100% of a mean particle size of the starting microgel particles are dispersed in a matrix component. The starting microgel particles are soaked with a monomer. The monomer is then polymerized, whereby the starting microgels are connected together. Also disclosed is an article comprising a base material and a layer of such connected microgel particles formed on a surface of the base material.
