Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of converting the size of an image, i.e., resolution of an image, and more specifically, to a method of reducing or enlarging the size of an image using coefficients of integer discrete cosine transform (Integer DCT), which is a type of block transform. Since the method of reducing and enlarging the size of an image according to the present invention reduces or enlarges the size of an image through an integer operation, hardware can be implemented using shifts and additions, and therefore, complexity of the hardware may be lowered, and the method of the present invention provides images of a good quality that is almost the same as the quality of an image provided according to a conventional method of reducing and enlarging an image using real-number DCT coefficients. The method of reducing and enlarging the size of an image according to the present invention is compatible with a H.264/AVC codec.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for conforming a functionalized flexible planar film on an optical lens. The apparatus according to the invention may also be used in a process of functionalization of an optical lens. As a factor of the functionalization that one wishes to introduce into said optical lens and the nature of the functionalized flexible planar film used, the functionalization process is a process of gluing, transfer, or molding of a functionalized flexible planar film onto an optical lens. The implementation of each of these respective processes makes it possible to obtain a functionalized optical lens, said functionalization being adhered, transferred, or molded using a functionalized flexible planar film.

Abstract: A progressive lens for ophthalmic spectacles has an additional zone for intermediate vision. This additional zone is located beneath a near-vision zone. It enables objects located at a distance of between 1.0 and 1.5 meters, in a direction inclined at about 35 degrees to a line of sight passing through a cross mark (CM) on the lens, to be seen clearly. To achieve this, the optical power progression between a far-vision point (FV) and a near-vision point (NV) of said lens has a power-increase threshold which is located approximately at the cross mark.

Abstract: A method for safeguarding data stored in a memory of a data storage system includes monitoring values of a subset of environmental variables associated with the data-storage system and updating a portion of a table containing values of environmental variables associated with the data-storage system. The table includes values for environmental variables that are not in the subset of environmental variables monitored. The values of the environmental variables are then inspected. On the basis of the inspection, a condition in which there exists a high-risk of data loss is determined.
