Patent number: 5316707Abstract: There is shown an injection molding apparatus, which comprises a source of a fluid molding material and a molding die into which the molding material is forced under pressure. The apparatus includes a control means for initiating and controlling an injection cycle in which the fluid molding material is injected into the molding die in a particular and predetermined manner. The control means generally comprises a programmable logic controller (PLC) which is programmed to receive signals from sensors adapted to sense variable parameters of the injection cycle. The PLC is programmed to generate control signals based upon the signals from the sensors so as to control the variable parameters of the injection cycle. The output control signals of the PLC are coupled through an interface circuit to a servo-control circuit which in turn is operatively coupled to control various parameters of the injection cycle.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1991Date of Patent: May 31, 1994Assignee: Tempcraft, Inc.Inventors: Virgil V. Patent number: 5312155Abstract: A structure of a footrest body in a vehicle seat, in which an air blower is provided under the seat to supply a hot or cold air toward a back side of the seat, and the footrest is equipped on the back wall of seat, with the free end of footrest body being contacted with a floor. In such type of footrest body structure, an opening is defined in the footrest body, though which opening the hot or cold air is permitted to be flowed from the blower toward the back side of seat, without hindrance of the footrest body body per se. It is further arranged that the footrest body can be lowered when it is set in the upright non-use position, to thereby improve the aesthetic appearance of the back wall of seat.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1992Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: Tachi-S Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroaki Akima, Tetsuo Ikeda

Patent number: 5308653Abstract: Comminuted wood is converted to a colored wood product useful as a mulch by feeding the comminuted wood into the lower end of an angularly upward positioned screw conveyor having an internal auger. The comminuted wood is contacted in the lower end of the conveyor by a liquid color-imparting agent, preferably an aqueous solution containing iron oxide pigment, carbon black pigment or a mixture of both pigments. After contacting, rotation of the auger draws the moist colored wood product towards the upper end, permitting runoff of excess liquid agent, which returns by gravity to the basin for further contacting with newly-fed comminuted wood. Colored wood product discharges through a chute at the upper end of the conveyor for further drying, if necessary.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Assignee: Kurtz Bros., Inc.Inventor: Greg Rondy

Patent number: 5309093Abstract: A ratio measuring apparatus which allows continuous monitoring of two or more digital signals so as to yield an indication of the ratio of frequencies between such signals for use in process control. The apparatus includes a channel transfer circuit adapted to rotate inputs or outputs in the apparatus for logical orientation thereof. The apparatus further includes primary and secondary counters, each of which is coupled to an input signal for processing thereof. These counters operate relative to one another for logical processing of the input signals to yield ratio information. The primary counter is coupled to a data latch system, acting as a temporary memory storage for the measured ratio information. The data latch may also be coupled to a display means.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Inventor: Daniel O. Aderhold

Patent number: 5308179Abstract: A writing instrument shaped to resemble a flower on a stem with leaves comprised of a hollow tubing housing, a top portion of hollow tubing, an adapter for detachably connecting the top portion to the housing, and a stylus. One portion of the housing is curvilinear, having a plurality of loops shaped to resemble leaves. The top portion is shaped to resemble a flower or bud. The adapter allows the top portion to be detachably connected to either end of the housing. The overall effect is to suggest a flower or bud on a stem with leaves. A second embodiment of the writing instrument uses a base formed of hollow tubing bent into shapes to complement the flower and stem suggested by the housing and top portion. A third embodiment includes a plurality of top portions which are interchangeable and can be detachably connected to the housing using the same adapter.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Assignee: Novelty Creations, Inc.Inventor: Curt E. Patent number: 5306375Abstract: An improved device and method for applying labels to contoured product panels. More specifically, the present invention incorporates a rotating cam which is cut to profile the product panel to be labeled and guides the peeler plate along and in close proximity with the product's surface without actually contacting it. This allows better control of the label application and subsequent wiping than was previously possible. Additionally, this device can label contoured surfaces not previously possible using conventional methods.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1993Date of Patent: April 26, 1994Assignee: Accraply, Inc.Inventor: Robin G. Patent number: 5305564Abstract: Hemispherical dome comprising a plurality of rigid longitudinally extending and radially oriented cells of like size and shape, and arranged in a plurality of circular rows. Each cell is essentially frustopyramidal in shape, having a polygonal cross-sectional shape and tapering slightly in the longitudinal direction from one end to the other. The longitudinal edges of each cell lie along radii of the hemisphere. Each cell is a hollow structure, having side wall means which completely surround an interior air space and which include spaced apart top and bottom walls. It can be formed of a lightweight material, preferably a plastic and especially polycarbonate. The hemispherical dome of this invention provides a lightweight, strong and energy efficient structure which does not require internal supports.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1992Date of Patent: April 26, 1994Inventor: William E. Patent number: 5294040Abstract: This invention relates to a container which is folded from a flat blank of material being provided with a plurality of fold lines forming a bottom wall, side walls and top wall panels in the blank. The side walls are coupled to one another by bellows-type coupling members which are adapted to be inwardly folded during assembly to draw up the adjacent side walls to which there are attached. The top walls are dimensioned such that upon folding into a substantially parallel relationship with the bottom wall will form a closed container which is especially suitable to be used as a gift box or the like. A portion of the bellows-type coupling member may be non-structurally adhered to a side wall of the container acting to greatly enhance subsequent folding and assembling of the container into its finished form. Predetermined fold lines may be pre-folded to allow more convenient assembly, which still enable packaging and handling of the container in a substantially flat form as desired.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1993Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Inventors: Laura L. Patent number: 5290282Abstract: A coagulating cannula is described which effectively operates in a localized area quite rapidly, without the need for removal of motorized shaving instruments, by the incorporation of a selective manually operative electrocautery positioned at a distal end of the shaft of the cannula. The cannula incorporates a nonconductive cylindrical hollow shaft and a nonconductive hub portion through which the motorized shaving instruments are inserted and removed. The electrocautery component enters the cannula at an electrical contact which protrudes from an outer surface of the hub portion and continuously runs within the hub and into a wall of the shaft terminating at the distal end of the shaft in a prominance at the tip of the shaft. The prominance is of a small surface area such that the prominance provides a small electrical contact area with a surrounding saline environment, thereby providing a high resistance arcing to the surrounding tissue that needs to be coagulated.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1992Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Christopher D.
