  • Patent number: 7550839
Abstract: An apparatus for enhancing the performance of an IC package and media interface. Adding a fissure to a Flip-Chip type package improves the crosstalk performance of the package for both high and low frequencies. The wall of the fissure can be implemented with a heat spreader layer and can be connected to any AC ground such as VSS or VDD package planes. The fissures can also accommodate the ingress of an optical fiber, which allows for a direct interface with the transceivers. The direct optical fiber interface permits the removal of solder balls for high speed signal traces, with their respective vias. On-chip integrated LEDs or other similar light source transceivers can drive the high speed signal media. Selective deposition of low dielectric material can also improve the frequency response of high speed signal package traces.

  • Patent number: 7530532
Abstract: A counterweight based rocket launch platform system and method uses gravity acting upon a counterweight to provide the initial assent for a rocket. This counterweight system is preferably built inside of a mountain so as to use the mountain as the supporting structure. By covering the exit opening with a thin membrane and closing the bottom, the system can have the air evacuated providing a free ascent without a terminal velocity. During the final moments of the ascent or after the rocket leaves the tube, the rocket will ignite carrying the payload into space. The velocity imparted to the rocket from the gravity assist in combination with bypassing the thickest part of the atmosphere will lower the amount of fuel required to lift payloads into space. This will result in increased payloads of existing rockets or the use of smaller and less expensive rockets.

  • Patent number: 7523933
Abstract: An adjustable force driving nip assembly for use in a sheet transport system of a document creating apparatus has a plurality of adjustable force driving nips aligned and spaced transversely across the sheet travelling path of the sheet transport system. Each driving nip has a spring biased idler roller mounted on a cam follower and mated with a driven roller. The spring bias produces a normal force for the idler roller that urges the idler roller against the driven roller. A stepper motor is adapted to interact concurrently with the cam followers and, upon actuation, vary the force of the spring thus adjusting the normal force of the idler rollers. A controller actuates the stepper motor in response to sheet media data entered into a control panel of the document creating apparatus by an end user, thereby automatically adjusting the normal force of the idler rollers to prevent sheet marking.

  • Patent number: 7406357
Abstract: Product descriptions (e.g., brochures) and processing instructions required to create a product (impose, print, fold, staple) can be abstracted into common vocabularies that link one to the other. A link from a product description to the processing instructions is made. A set of pre-defined templates containing specific processing instructions can be selected. Templates representing the processing instructions have a set of capabilities for the process network described. Templates representing the processing instructions can associate a set of well-defined queries regarding the product description, answers to which are used to complete process templates. A System of Classification when constructed can be used to classify a vocabulary to describe products and a separate vocabulary to describe required processing for the product(s). Once a System of Classification is established, templates for various product classes can be created.
