Abstract: The process and apparatus for effecting savings of compressed injection gs such as oxygen or nitrogen when injecting solids such as burnt lime pneumatically into a receiving vessel, such as the blow-line to steel melt has a solids conveying system, a compressed gas supply source and a conduit and valve system functioning in a sequence, by which the compressed gas upon termination of the procedure is collected and thereupon is recycled. The system is equipped with at least one pressure-reservoir to collect the compressed gas from the previous procedure for recycling it.The pressure reservoir is subdivided by a reciprocating divider such as a membrane or a reciprocating piston to subdivide it into two parts of variable volumes, the divider is pushed by the returning compressed saved gas from one wall of the reservoir to the other. Highly compressed gas is blown into the empty part of the reservoir to increase the pressure upon the returned gas.

Abstract: A trigger valve which closes a main valve after a predetermined volume of fluid passes therethrough is equipped with a conversion mechanism arranged in the flow path of the fluid and functioning to translate the amount of fluid flowing through into a proportional amount of motion. A cam mechanism is turned by the conversion mechanism. The trigger valve closes the valve disk automatically due to the function of the cam mechanism when the fluid has flowed in a pre-determined quantity. Examples demonstrate the ability to control the valve means to increase or decrease a pre-determined standard flow of fluid at will by manipulations of a control mechanism.

Abstract: The invention relates to a wind direction indicator for sailboats wherein a rotatably mounted permanent magnet connected to the shaft of a weather vane is employed as a pick-up. By means of its magnetic field, it controls, in dependency upon the wind direction with great respect to the midship line two magnetically controllable semiconductors mutually displaced by an angle of 90.degree.. This is an improvement over U.S. Pat. No. 3,791,211.

Abstract: A longitudinally reciprocating grate plate in a substantially horizontal plane for an apparatus for heat variation, such as for cooling or combustion, forming a bed for forwarding a flow of material comprising a one-piece frame shaped base plate with an upper substantially flat surface portion and a slightly rising portion in the direction of flow of said material over said grate, the base plate provided with hollows, internal recesses and protrusions, a plurality of rib-shaped wear pieces to provide a long-life wear surface to the plate in its plane, the wear pieces disengageably assembled with the base plate provided with internal protrusions and recesses in assembly mating with the hollows, recesses and protrusions respectively, of the plate in a snug, easily assembled loose fit and devoidly of any additional independent connecting means such as screws, bolts or welds. The base plate and the wear pieces in assembly are forming slots substantially in the vertical direction to form jet-type air ducts.
Abstract: An electronic clock, such as a quartz-crystal clock, is tested and may be adjusted by measuring the oscillation frequency of the clock with an active antenna. The oscillation frequency is electrically compared with a reference frequency to determine deviation and provide an output indication. Internal calibration is carried out when the system is not being used for testing.

Abstract: A shock-, vibrations- and tampering-proof attachment means of an object, such as a signal producing insert of an ionization alarm system coaxially and non-rotatably to a support, such as for land-, marine- and air vehicles provides a spring assembly with a spring and biased coaxial protrusion in the bottom of the object with a helically wound canal running through the protrusion having end orifices in its surface. The support is provided with a U-shaped fork fixed with its yoke in it. A connecting means equipped with a rod traverses the protrusion perpendicularly to its axis. The rod is fastened to both free ends of the yoke. Optimum shapes and dimensions of the respective parts are established, also with the view of maintaining a minimum size of the object itself. The object with the fixed protrusion is mounted by rotation thereof to the support, thus hiding the attachment means and making them vibration proof and inaccessible from the outside.

Abstract: A protective alarm system for a vehicle or the like wherein a protective switch initiates operation of a circuit combining two timing effects : effecting time delaying of an alarm device, and determining the duration of the alarm. Once initiated by the protective switch, the alarm is actuated after a predetermined delay and for a predetermined duration despite any action on the switch such as a periodical opening and closing. Circuitry operated by a key switch defeats instantaneously actuation of the alarm system when a further manually operated knob is on, which results in a necessary order of operation, involving the possession of the key, to inhibit definitely the alarm.

Abstract: Apparatus for facilitating the loading and unloading of a motor truck. The rear spring suspension of the truck is fixed to and adjacent the rear ends of a pair of right and left flexible cantilever beams attached at their forward ends to the respective sides of the chassis or frame. The rear driving axle of the truck is connected with the transmission through a splined shaft variable in effective length. In normal driving the rear spring suspension is over the axle for direct support thereby. But when loading or unloading, the front wheels may be braked or blocked so that power operation of the rear wheels propels the axle forwardly and guidedly along the beams whereby the beams flex and allow the rear end of the chassis to lower to any desired extent. In a dump type truck, forward propulsion of the axle as aforesaid also elevates the forward end of the hinged container to thus dump its contents.
Abstract: A device for damping the natural oscillations of the rotor of a stepper motor. A permanent magnet is fixed to the rotor and magnetically coupled with an inertia mass constructed of material with distinct hysteresis. The rotor is damped by conversion of mechanical momentum to hysteresis loss.
