  • Patent number: 4006791
Abstract: A device for regulating the traveling speed of a motor vehicle, comprising an electric regulator acted upon by a speed-responsive signal, which regulator compares the prevailing travel-speed with a prespecified desired traveling speed and, in the case of a deviation of the actual traveling speed from the prespecified one, emits a signal proportional to the deviation variable. The device comprises a pneumatic adjusting drive, preferably the accelerator, which acts upon an element affecting the ratio between fuel and air in the fuel-air mixture fed to the motor vehicle engine. The adjusting drive is in turn acted upon by a vacuum or excess pressure or normal pressure by way of a control stage which is responsive to a signal emitted by the regulator.

  • Patent number: 3982912
Abstract: A novel type of zeolite is obtained by replacing ion-exchangeable active cations in A-type zeolite with potassium ions and divalent cations at 33.3 to 83.3% and 16.7 to 66.7%, respectively to combine into the total of 100%. This zeolite is effective for separation of a mixture consisting of non-polar molecules and polar molecules having the adsorption effective cross-section less than 5 A. For instance, monosilane and phosphine, both of which are adsorbed by the conventional Ca--A type zeolite, can be separated by the novel K--A type zeolite which adsorbs phosphine.

  • Patent number: 3980248
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing component thermoplastic sections and for joining them into bobbins for spinning and twisting machines. A frictional surface is formed by injection molding at the outer end surface of a male section and the inner end surface of a female section of a bobbin. By joining the sections and subjecting them to a high-speed rotation relative to each other the frictional surfaces melt and the sections are fused into an integral break resistant bobbin. The specific shapes of the male and female contacting surfaces and the manner of fusing them together are described as being critical.

  • Patent number: 3977275
Abstract: A gear mechanism for transmission of small forces, such as in a hand mechanism gear for clocks or watches which has a driving shaft, a driven shaft coaxial thereto, two gearwheels developed as crown wheels, mounted coaxially engaging each other over a small portion of their circumferences and having each a different number of teeth, one of these gearwheels being stationary and the other rotary. A coupling means such as a clutch is fastened to the driving shaft for rotation therewith. The clutch and the two gearwheels are mounted in relation to each other in such a manner that when the clutch rotates with the driving shaft, the rotary gearwheel resting on the driven shaft, while itself rotating, rolls off on the stationary gearwheel.

  • Patent number: 3977540
Abstract: In a marine loading system of bulky materials for ships, Barges and similar vessels, means are provided to handle either powdered materials or lumpy materials. The powdered materials are unloaded by air-flotation means provided with a pneumatic discharge device having air permeable panels, individual, or foldably connected into a unit, with an air conveyer chute attached to each panel. Both the panels and the chutes are unilaterally flexible and connected to the bottom of the hold by hinges so that they may be folded upward to the vertical walls of the hold and there locked, while conventional gripping means are provided for handling the lumpy materials. The open-air conveyer chutes function as feeders to the pneumatic conveyer units for advancing the bulk material. The panels as well as the open air conveyer chutes are provided on their bottom sides with a steel reinforcing construction.

  • Patent number: 3978355
Abstract: A damping chamber in an electric clock is provided with a closure surface which conforms to a closure surface on the shaft of the electric motor which drives the clock. The permanent-magnet rotor of the motor is displaced from the stator in a direction away from the damping chamber so that, when the stator is driven, it will generate a force component on the rotor which will force the shaft to increase the pressure on the closure surfaces, thereby improving the seal of the damping chamber when the motor is operated.

  • Patent number: 3976232
Abstract: An improvement on a silo for delivery of fluid bulk material, such as livestock feed, grain, flour, spices, sugar, and similar provides for an inner compartment adjacent to the bottom of the silo of the shape approximately of a truncated cone or funnel, with the wider periphery thereof merging with the inside of the cylindrical wall of the silo and with the narrower periphery extending into a shorter vertical wall merging with the bottom of the silo. The lower portion of the cylinder wall of the silo forms with the truncated cone shell within it an annular channel. A central cone rises from the center of the bottom of the compartment. Material release openings are provided within the vertical cone wall and lead from the compartment into the channel. The channel is provided with a material discharge opening toward the outside of the silo. The bottoms of the compartment and of the channel are suitably inclined to aid the transport of the material.

  • Patent number: 3973372
Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically packing goods which are fed continuously in series spaced a predetermined distance from each other by means of a continuously fed strip of a stretch film having self-adhering and resiliently stretchable natures. The strip is fed by conveyor clamping opposite sides edges of the strip along the direction of feeding of the goods from above the same obliquely downwardly to intersect the path of feeding of the goods so that the upper side and lateral sides of the respective goods are wrapped by the strip as the strip is being fed. After the upper and lateral sides of the respective goods are wrapped by the strip, the opposite longitudinal side edges are introduced into converging guide slots so that they are folded back upon the bottom side of the respective goods where they are joined adhered with each other to form a cylindrically shaped strip onto the bottom side of which the joined longitudinal edges are adhered.

  • Patent number: 3967923
Abstract: This invention provides for a process for the wet treatment of textiles in which in a pressure-tight high-temperature resistant container the liquor always flows outwardly laterally at an angle from vertical through the inside of the textile material, flows down on the outside of the textile material to a sump situated beneath the latter and is pumped back from the sump into the interior of the textile material. Thus the material during the process is not immersed in the liquor and the influence of the high pressures and temperatures conventionally applied upon the textiles in their wet treatment is avoided and a lower liquid to textile ratio is employed.

  • Patent number: 3965711
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the continuous treatment of a semi-worked filamentary of strand-like metal material of indefinite length, arranged helically, of which the turns, supported and driven by rotating horizontal shafts, are immersed in a treating agent. An apparatus of this kind comprises two capstans or winches fitted with idle satellites or rollers; two strands of material coming from delivery units are bent thereon and assume the shape of two helices supported and driven respectively by pairs of horizontal shafts, and immersed in a treatment agent contained in a tank. The two helices rotate in opposite directions their turns interpenetrating, so that they guide each other; the size of each turn is regulated at the same time, if it increases, by its possible contact with one of the shafts bearing the other helix, and by the distance, adjustable during operation, between the two shafts of the pair bearing it.

  • Patent number: 3965508
Abstract: A fluid filled cushion for wheel chairs or the like. In a preferred embodiment, the cushion is partially filled with water but it may also be filled with air or the like. The cushion has a tongue portion protruding from the front thereof. The tongue depends over the front edge of the seat of the chair and assumes horizontal position when the user of the chair is seated on the cushion, to separate the legs of the user. The invention is intended for use by paraplegics who normally do not have sufficient muscular control to keep their legs separated.
