  • Patent number: 4614009
Abstract: A locking member for an open roof construction for a vehicle. This open roof construction is provided with a panel, which in the closed position closes an opening in the roof of the vehicle and which is movable from this closed position or to this closed position by means of at least one push-pull cable. This push-pull cable is displaceable by means of a driving wheel, which is rotatable in two opposite directions, while a locking member at least substantially prevents a rotation of the driving wheel by the push-pull cable. This locking member comprises two cooperating locking parts, the first one of these locking parts being stationary and the second locking part, when at rest, being maintained in the locked position, while this second locking part can first be brought from its locked position into its released position with respect to the stationary locking part by means of an actuating member and can thereafter be rotated in the two opposite directions, which rotation is followed by the driving wheel.

  • Patent number: 4614787
Abstract: The disclosed wound dressings have a drug dispersed throughout a polyurethane matrix that is the reaction product of: (A) An isocyante terminated prepolymer formed by reaction of isophorone diisocyanate and a macroglycol and (B) a monomer containing hydroxyl and vinyl groups. The reaction product is a vinyl terminated polyurethane oligomer which is liquid at room temperature and which may be readily admixed with a pharmacoactive substance and a photosensitizer, formed into a film and cured by exposure to UV light without release of heat.In the most preferred embodiments the foregoing oligomer is codissolved in an organic solvent with a polyurethane polymer which is the reaction product of:dicyclohexyl methane diisocyanate;a polytetramethylene ether polyol having a molecular weight in the range of 1000-3000 daltons; and1,4-butane diol. That solution is then admixed with the pharmacoactive agent, formed into a film and cured.

  • Patent number: 4613072
Abstract: An improved apparatus for heating fluid by burning liquid fuel is disclosed. To heat fluid such as water, air or the like medium heat exchanging is effected between the combustion chamber in which liquid fuel is burnt with combustion air introduced therein and the fluid passage through which fluid to be heated flows. The apparatus includes means for controlling rotational speed of a single motor for rotating the fuel pump and the blower, means for controlling a flow rate of fuel to be pumped from the fuel pump, means for controlling a flow rate of combustion air and an electronic control unit into which a variety of parameters relative to the above-mentioned means are inputted. The parameters are processed in the electronic control unit to individually control the means for controlling rotational speed of the motor, the means for controlling a flow rate of fuel and the means for controlling a flow rate of combustion whereby heat exchanging therebetween is achieved without fluctuation in temperature of fluid.

  • Patent number: 4612247
Abstract: Structures to serve as selective magnetic sorbents are formed by dissolving a cellulose derivative such as cellulose triacetate in a solvent containing magnetic particles. The resulting solution is sprayed as a fine mist into a chamber containing a liquid coagulant such as n-hexane in which the cellulose derivative is insoluble but in which the coagulant is soluble or miscible. On contact with the coagulant, the mist forms free-flowing porous magnetic microspheric structures. These structures act as containers for the ion-selective or organic-selective sorption agent of choice. Some sorbtion agents can be incorporated during the manufacture of the structure.

  • Patent number: 4610719
Abstract: An apparatus and a method destined for the production of metal powder, wherein inert gas, especially argon is admixed to a metal melt rising in a riser, thereby forming a metal froth which is pressurized likewise by inert gas, especially argon of high pressure in a pulverization chamber, at the same time, forming metal droplets. These are displaced from the pulverization chamber by the gas blown into the same, to enter an expansion chamber in the form of a collecting vessel, the metal droplets being accelerated in the passage from the pulverization chamber to the collecting vessel, at the same time, forming the finest metal powder.

  • Patent number: 4609039
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to a counterflow type heat exchanger composed of plural heat exchange units characterized by unique inlet and outlet headers. Each header has an end face providing an opening to the header interior and a closed end face, both of which extend obliquely from the tube sheet to join at an apex and which are symmetrically arranged with respect to each other. Such a construction enables the flow of fluid passing through each heat exchange unit to be uniform across the width of the heat exchange unit.

  • Patent number: 4606476
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus and a method for sanitizing beverage dispensing systems of the type using a pump that draws the beverage from a single port collapsible container which is otherwise air tight. The system consists of a manifold having a main manifold chamber with one input and at least one output, and a secondary manifold chamber having an input and an output. The drink dispensing hoses are attached to the outputs of the main manifold chamber, and either a sanitizing fluid or water is attached to the input of the main manifold chamber. The water may be provided through the secondary manifold chamber. Before connecting to the sanitizing fluid, the main manifold chamber is opened to the atmosphere, and remaining beverage in the dispensing hoses is drawn out by the pumps to the dispensing heads. Afterward, sanitizing fluid and water are drawn through the manifold and the dispensing hoses and heads, sanitizing the system.

  • Patent number: 4606877
Abstract: Elastomers are plasticized with a polymerizable monomer, in homogeneous admixture therewith, by adding the monomer to a latex of the elastomer, free of polymerization initiator, followed by coagulation of the monomer and polymer solids. The coagulated solids recovered from the latex may be compounded with a polymerization initiator for the monomer and a vulcanizing agent for the polymer and, optionally, an inorganic filler, and shaped into the desired product form. Polymerization of the polymer and vulcanization of the elastomeric polymer are initiated after shaping.

  • Patent number: 4598633
Abstract: A spray booth has an intermediate grating type floor (20) through which air is circulated. The air passes through a cleaning liquid nozzle (A) and entrains and atomises cleaning liquid derived from an overflow trough (30) with weirs (46,48). A spent air channel (24) is enclosed by a cover (28) located at least 20 cm from a flow off edge (28a) of the cover. The cover may itself form part of the washing-liquid feed device. A guide channel leads from weir (40) to the upper edge of a slot (34) forming the orifice of liquid nozzle (A). The cover (28) shields the working area of the booth from the noise generated by the nozzle (A).
