  • Patent number: 5683576
Abstract: The object of the present invention is a water treatment apparatus that integrates an ozone generator, CT and storage tanks and a microcontroller to treat water in accordance with proposed EPA test protocol under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticicle Act (FIFRA). The present invention receives raw water from a municipal or private water supply, the water is passed through a pretreatment filter to the CT chamber where ozone is dissolved in the water to kill bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms. Ozone is manufactured in an ozone generator, pumped to the CT chamber where it is forced through a diffuser and past a sonic wave generator to increase the mass transfer efficiency of ozone into solution with water causing greater ozone surface area. A degassing and ozone destruct mechanism removes ozone enriched air from the CT chamber and destroys the ozone prior to release of the air into the environment.

  • Patent number: 5673491
Abstract: Disclosed is a level indicator device for cranes. A sensor sending unit fixed to the crane base utilizes a free swinging pendulum with a tip which activates sensor portions on a sensor board. An out-of-level attitude of the crane tilts the sensor sending unit and thus moves the pendulum tip to contact a specific sensor portion defined by the crane attitude. The sensors are connected to circuitry including a programmable array logic chip which generates a signal representative of a binary number corresponding to the position of the particular sensor activated. A serial to parallel converter converts the parallel binary number to a serial number and transmits radio frequency signals with said serial binary number indicative of the pendulum position. The RF signal is received by a receiver indicator unit located in the operator control station of the crane. Circuitry converts the signals to indicator activating signals for an indicator panel on the receiver indicator unit.

  • Patent number: 5671937
Abstract: A towing apparatus is disclosed which has a hitch receiver that is moveable underneath a tow vehicle between a rearward hitching position and a forward towing position. The apparatus has a stationary guide rail which is longitudinally mounted underneath the tow vehicle rearward of the rear axle. A carriage is slidably engaged on the guide rail and has a rearwardly extending hitch receiver. At the rearward hitch position the hitch receiver is substantially in the conventional towing position at the rear bumper of the tow vehicle. After hitching a towed vehicle to the receiver, the tow vehicle is backed up to move the carriage and receiver forwardly on the guide rail to the towing position which is ideally adjacent to the rear axle. The carriage and receiver with attached hitch are then locked in place at said position. A towed vehicle may be either directly hitched to the receiver or may be hitched by way of an intermediate coupling section.

  • Patent number: 5667545
Abstract: A filter element for an air cleaner including a sheet-like filter medium for purifying air when the air is transferred from one side to the other side of the filter medium, a frame member having a flange confining the filter medium and a side wall formed on the flange, and a fibrous mat having cushioning effect. The filter medium is folded in a sawtooth-shaped pattern and extends along a plane. The filter medium has a base contour contained in the plane and has a sawtooth-shaped peripheral edge section extending along a part of the base contour. The flange outwardly projects from the frame. The side wall is airtightly bonded to the sawtooth-shaped peripheral edge section of the filter medium. The mat continuously extends along the base contour and is fixedly bonded to a surface of the flange facing the other side of the filter medium.

  • Patent number: 5665113
Abstract: The infant pacifier/pillow generally has an elongated circular shaped pillow having a central aperture and a side slot, a pacifier with an open center grasping handle and a removable pacifier holder. The pacifier open center grasping handle is slid into the pillows side slot. To hold the open center grasping handle in place, the pacifier holder which is essentially a rod with an end cap, is pushed down through the central aperture and through the handle's open center until the pacifier holder's end cap is substantially flush with the top of the pillow whereby the pacifier is held in place. The pacifier holder, sized approximately to the same diameter as the pillow's central aperture, is itself held in position and prevented from falling out of the pillow by the friction forces between the pillow material and the pacifier holder. However, the pacifier holder may easily be removed by an adult such that the pacifier may also be removed.

  • Patent number: 5659621
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an adjustable operational parameter of a hearing aid by the use of an external magnetic actuator held in proximity with the hearing aid. The hearing aid has a microphone for generating signals, hearing aid circuitry for processing the signals, an output transducer for transforming the processed signals to a user compatible form, and a single magnetic switch, such as a reed switch, connected to the hearing aid circuitry. The magnetic switch controls the hearing aid circuitry to adjust an adjustable operational parameter, such as volume. In one embodiment the adjustable operational parameter continues to adjust or cycle between a minimum and a maximum as long as the magnetic actuator is maintained in proximity with the magnetic switch. When the magnetic actuator is removed the adjustment ceases. The invention allows precise adjustment and control of an adjustable parameter with minimal effort and movement by the user.

  • Patent number: 5651731
Abstract: The present invention relates to debeaking turkey and chick poultry through non-contact thermal transfer from a source of high frequency heat generating radiation. The present invention directs heat onto the upper beak of a live bird by convection or radiation to thereby affect the continued growth of the beak. Such heating of the bird's upper beak provides a debeaking method which allows the bird's upper beak to stay in place for several days allowing the bird to eat and drink. Heating the portion of the upper beak also allows the poultry tongue and lower beak to be shielded from the heat causing less trauma and injury to the bird. The heat may be directed onto the poultry upper beak by radiation or convection.
