  • Patent number: 7241310
Abstract: A method and device for reducing mitral regurgitation. An elongated body is positioned in a coronary sinus of a patient in a vicinity of a heart mitral valve posterior leaflet. The body is adapted to straighten a natural curvature of at least a portion of the coronary sinus in the vicinity of the posterior leaflet to move a posterior annulus anteriorly, which in turn moves the posterior leaflet anteriorly, thereby to improve leaflet coaptation.

  • Patent number: 7239034
Abstract: A combined heat and AC power generating system is disclosed having black start capability for the full time, simultaneous production of both electricity and heat. Heat generated within the system is captured and used for heating applications such as heating building air and tap water. The power generating system comprises an engine, generator, rectifier, variable frequency drive inverter, and inverter control electronics. The system provides improved efficiency and prolonged engine life by always operating the engine with its throttle fully open to obtain maximum efficiency and the engine is normally operated near its stall point. In this operating state the inverter control electronics adjust the power output from the inverter to control the speed of the engine. This is done by increasing the power output from the inverter when the power drawn by the load decreases. This causes the engine to operate closer to its stall point and it slows down.

  • Patent number: 7233882
Abstract: A method for identifying modes and transitions during plant operation, wherein measured values of process variables are used to evaluate a current state of the process and its sections and subsections. An identified state of the plant is signaled and the plant is monitored for normal execution of any transition, identifying a current task being performed in the process and sending a message to different sections of the plant. Results are displayed on a visual display device and can be sent to other plant computer programs for guidance during the transition. A permanent chronological record of the sequence of events—modes and transitions—of the plant and sections and subsections including the pertinent plant conditions and information is generated for subsequent review and analysis.

  • Patent number: 7217280
Abstract: A suture anchor having a conical surface and a bore in which an end of an insertion tool is inserted. The insertion end of the insertion tool is made of material having elastic properties. The bore and base of the suture anchor are angled with respect to the central axis of the suture anchor and preferably are parallel to each other. During insertion, the suture anchor is reoriented to fit into the hole, thereby bending the elastic end of the insertion tool. When the suture anchor is within cancellous bone tissue, the elastic properties of the insertion tool deploy the suture anchor to an orientation in which the suture anchor cannot fit through the bone hole, thereby firmly anchoring the suture anchor in the human bone.

The article of clothing includes a tube having a distal portion terminating in a distal end, a proximal portion terminating in a proximal end, and a side opening formed in the distal portion adjacent to but spaced from the distal end. The tube is sized to snugly fit over a wearer's hand and forearm so that the distal end of the tube is positioned near a midpalm area of the hand. The proximal end of the tube is positioned at the forearm area, and the wearer's thumb extends out through the tube's side opening. The tube is formed out of a flexible, stretchable material providing good thermal insulation. A pocket is fixed to the tube and is adapted to receive and retain a warming device.
