  • Patent number: 6939522
Abstract: A honeycomb structure (10) having a large number of through-holes (11) formed in the axial direction and defined by partition walls, wherein slits (12) are formed so as to be exposed to at least part of the outer surface (13) of the honeycomb structure along the axial direction. In this honeycomb structure, each portion can deform freely without being restricted by other portion even when an uneven temperature distribution appears therein; as a result, reduction in thermal stress is possible and generation of cracks can be prevented.

Abstract: A lens sheet capable of preventing reflection of extraneous light without decreasing extraneous light absorption, having extraneous light absorbers that can be readily formed by printing and are scarcely stained. The present invention also provides a rear projection screen including such a lens sheet. A rear projection screen has a Fresnel lens sheet and a lenticular lens sheet placed on the viewing side of the Fresnel lens sheet. The lenticular lens sheet has lenses formed on those portions of the light-emergent-side surface of the sheet-shaped substrate part through which light converged by other lenses pass, and extraneous light absorbers formed on those portions of the light-emergent-side surface of the sheet-shaped substrate part through which light converged by the other lenses does not pass. Each extraneous light absorber includes a black-colored binder resin and a number of light-diffusing particles subjected to coloring treatment, incorporated in the binder resin.

  • Patent number: 6925038
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical disc apparatus which solves a problem that the tracking control takes off when an objective lens is displaced in the tracking direction due to its weight. In this optical disc apparatus, a spot position detector 108 generates a spot position signal which indicates a position of a light spot on a light receiving element 105, and supplies the signal to a traverse loop filter 111 and a spot position loop filter 109. A controller 115 supplies an output from the spot position loop filter 109 to a tracking actuator 104, before supplying an output from the traverse loop filter 111 to a traverse motor 113, previously moves the light spot near the center of the light receiving element 105, and starts the traverse control in a state where a value of the spot position signal at starting of the traverse control is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6924824
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of driving an active matrix display device in which one frame comprises a plurality of sub-frames each comprising a write time and a hold time and gray scale driving is brought about by the cumulative effect of the hold times. Gray scale display driving is carried out by randomly scanning scan lines other than one predetermined scan line in a predetermined sequence in the hold time of each sub-frame corresponding to the one predetermined scan line so that any one sub-frame is not written to any one scan line more than once and one frame is such that in each of the scan lines, the writings and the hold time of each of the sub-frames is ensured to bring about gray scale display. Through this means, the frame period is shortened.

  • Patent number: 6914644
Abstract: In a liquid crystal panel in which pseudo dot inversion driving is performed, the occurrence of flicker or vertical and horizontal strings is prevented by preventing an alignment shift between individual layers during the fabrication of a TFT array from producing a difference between the respective abilities of thin-film TFTs to charge adjacent pixels (61, 62). For this purpose, the liquid crystal display panel is constructed such that two TFTs which are enclosed by two adjacent image signal lines (21, 22) and scan signal lines (3) and adjacent to each other along the signal lines (21, 22) have respective source electrodes (71, 72) adjacent to the different image signal lines (21, 22). The source electrodes (71, 72) and drain electrodes (81, 82) of the two TFTs connected to the adjacent pixels (61, 62) are alternately arranged such that variations caused by the alignment shift in the sizes and areas of overlapping portions between the individual layers of the TFTs are equal or the same.

  • Patent number: 6914789
Abstract: A switching power supply apparatus is provided, wherein an optimal blanking interval can be obtained for an entire load range. The switching power supply apparatus is configured such that an on-blanking pulse signal generating circuit 31 generates a blanking pulse signal based on an error voltage signal VEAO, and sets a blanking interval that corresponds to the load condition. For example, the reference voltage and the voltage value of the error voltage signal VEAO are compared and the blanking pulse signal that shortens the blanking interval is generated during a light load, that is, when the voltage value of the error voltage signal VEAO is less than or equal to the reference voltage.
