  • Patent number: 6870880
Abstract: A waveform equalization apparatus is provided with plural TF (transversal filter) units and plural selectors, and the TF units are connected such that the construction of the whole filter becomes a real component filter when an input signal is a VSB signal while it becomes a complex filter when the input signal is a QAM signal, by switching the inputs of each selector. The waveform equalization apparatus so constructed can waveform-equalize both the VSB signal and the QAM signal, and the circuit scale of the apparatus is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6867146
Abstract: A method of plasma-processing a silicon-based substrate provides a mirror-like etched surface of the substrate. A silicon wafer having a protective tape affixed to a circuit-formed side of the wafer is mounted on a mounting unit disposed within a process chamber of a plasma processing apparatus while the protective tape contacts on the mounting unit. The surface of the silicon wafer is kept at a temperature of 40° C. or above when the surface of the substrate is etched by plasma generated by plasma discharge in plasma-generating gas including fluorine-containing gas fed into the process chamber. This suppressing adhesion and accumulation of a reaction product of the fluorine-containing gas with respect to the surface to be etched, and consequently, provides the surface with uniform etching.

  • Patent number: 6865799
Abstract: A method of manufacturing strain-detecting devices is provided. First, plural cylindrical substrates, each of which has one end closed by a diaphragm, are fixedly placed at predetermined positions of a fixing plate. A positioning marker is previously given to the fixing plate. The fixing plate having the substrates is then assembled into a jig. The jig sustains the substrates so that an outer surface of the diaphragm of each substrate is held at the same level. Through positioning the substrates, all the diaphragms are then positioned in place in a plane direction of the fixing plate with reference to the positioning marker. A strain gage portion is simultaneously formed on each of all the diaphragms. The fixing plate is then disassembled from the jig. In this step, the substrates with the strain gage portions, i.e., strain-detecting devices, are separated from the fixing plate.

  • Patent number: 6865174
Abstract: In a code division multiple communication system which prevents the dropout of a whole packet and does not require the generation of a carrier from a received signal, under bad communication path, by generating an orthogonal code with chip synchronization from a correlation peak of a synchronization code sequence output from a surface acoustic wave matched filter, a preamble division of a spectrum spread signal is composed of plural synchronization burst. Each synchronization burst is composed of a synchronization packet division having the Barker code of 11 chips and a dummy division. The period of one synchronization burst (Tburst) is set equally to the period of one symbol in a data division (Tsymbol) which is modulated by the orthogonal sequential code of 64 chips. When the correlation peak of at least one from among plural synchronization code sequences is detected, the orthogonal code can be generated in accordance with the start timing of the first symbol in the data division.

  • Patent number: 6860485
Abstract: The present invention provides a piston ring comprising a piston ring main body and an expander ring arranged on an inner peripheral surface thereof, the expander ring comprising two oil expander rings, one of which is housed in a space in a spiral of the other. The expander ring is formed so that the pressing force in the diameter expanding direction is larger in a high temperature state than in a low temperature state. The expander comprises two different kinds of expander members. One of these expander members has the same functions as those of a conventional expander, and the other is a member in which there occurs a change in tension in the diametral direction with temperature. As a result, the pressing force of the master expander member having the same effects as those of the conventional expander is made variable.
