  • Patent number: 7653274
Abstract: An optoelectric subassembly including a receptacle assembly with an optoelectric device mounted therein to define a light axis. The receptacle assembly includes an optical fiber mounting structure defining an opening with an end of an optical fiber received therein. The mounting structure and opening are designed to position the received optical fiber with an end facet substantially perpendicular to the light axis. A first lens is mounted in the receptacle assembly adjacent the optoelectronic device in the light axis and a ball lens is mounted in the receptacle assembly and positioned in the light axis. The ball lens is mounted so as to be in abutting engagement with the facet of an optical fiber inserted into the opening. By forming the ball lens with a diameter equal to the diameter of a mounting ferrule on the end of the fiber and also equal to the diameter of the ferrule receiving opening, the ball lens is self-aligning.

  • Patent number: 7646066
Abstract: A method of fabricating a double gate FET on a silicon substrate includes the steps of sequentially epitaxially growing a lower gate layer of crystalline rare earth silicide material on the substrate, a lower gate insulating layer of crystalline rare earth insulating material, an active layer of crystalline semiconductor material, an upper gate insulating layer of crystalline rare earth insulating material, and an upper gate layer of crystalline rare earth conductive material. The upper gate layer and the upper gate electrically insulating layer are etched and a contact is deposited on the upper gate layer to define an upper gate structure. An impurity is implanted into the lower gate layer to define a lower gate area aligned with the upper gate structure. A source and drain are formed in the active layer and contacts are deposited on the source and drain, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7643526
Abstract: A light emitting device with a ?-cavity including a first spacer of single crystal dielectric material and an active area including single crystal erbium dielectric material positioned on the first spacer. The erbium dielectric material and the single crystal dielectric material of the first spacer are substantially crystal lattice matched at their juncture. A second spacer of single crystal dielectric material is positioned on the active area. The erbium dielectric material and the single crystal dielectric material of the second spacer are substantially crystal lattice matched at the second surface. The high-? erbium dielectric provides a high gain ?-cavity that emits increased amounts of light in either spontaneous or stimulated modes of operation.

  • Patent number: 7637697
Abstract: A trencher boot includes a boxlike structure formed with a compartment extending from an inlet formed in an upper end of the trencher boot to an outlet formed in a lower end of the trencher boot. A cable-orienting structure is formed within the compartment between the inlet and the outlet. The compartment is to concurrently receive three cables from the inlet, guide the three cable to the cable-orienting structure, which interacts with the three cables to arrange the three cables in a V-shaped orientation comprising two of the three cables positioned side-by-side atop a third one of the three cables, and guide the three cables in the V-shaped orientation from the cable-orienting structure to the lower end of the trencher boot and outwardly through the outlet into the V-shaped receiving area formed in the bottom of the trench, which maintains the three cables in the V-shaped orientation.

  • Patent number: 7612667
Abstract: An alarm and security system is incorporated with a screen unit that may be a part of a window or a part of a patio door or the like. The screen unit is formed of robust expanded metal mesh to discourage intrusion therethrough. A plurality of locks about the frame of the screen unit lock the screen unit with a supporting frame. A control unit is coupled with sensors for sensing motion of the screen unit or tampering with the screen unit to activate audible, inaudible and/or visible alarms at a local or remote location. A camera, activated by the sensors provides an image upon tampering or intrusion of the screen unit. If the screen unit is a screen door, a pet door in the screen door is locked in place to prevent intrusion but a signal generating element on a pet will release the lock when the pet is in close proximity. A remote receiver may be used to receive an alarm signal from the control unit.
