  • Patent number: 5619893
Abstract: A squaring machine has an elongate generally cylindrical housing with an axially mounted motor at one end of the housing which rotates a shaft extending through the axis of the housing. The shaft is longitudinally moveable within the housing, and a non-rotatable inner sleeve is fitted around the shaft and is fixed for longitudinal movement with the shaft. The housing has a feed ring which is axially slidable but non-rotatably fixed around the tubular section, and a pin extends through a slot in the housing and the pin is connected to both the feed ring and the inner sleeve such that the feed ring, the inner sleeve, and the shaft move longitudinally in unison with respect to the housing. Rotation of a feed nut, which threadably engages the feed ring, causes axial movement of the feed ring along the tubular portion of the housing, and simultaneous axial movement of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5605084
Abstract: A squaring machine has an elongate housing with a rotatable spindle extending from one end thereof and attached to which is a tool for squaring the end of work piece. At the opposite end of the housing are first and second feed members, the first feed member in the form of a screw which is locked against axial movement within the housing, and the second feed member in the form a nut which is locked against rotation with respect to the housing. The feed nut is rotatably connected to an end of the spindle such that rotation of the feed screw will cause axial movement of the spindle. Also, the machine includes a first and second removable retainers, each of which has a pair of opposing jaws for clamping around a cylindrical work piece, however, the jaws of the first retainer are for grasping a work piece of a different size than the jaws of the second retainer.

  • Patent number: 5564706
Abstract: A practice putting green has an upper surface of material which simulates the green of a golf course and a support which raises the material of the upper surface upon which the practice putting green is positioned. The practice putting green has a generally rectangular shape with long and short sides, and to simulate the slope of a putting green, a support under one of the long sides of the upper surfaces raises that long side of the upper surface to a higher elevation above the underlying surface than the opposing long side. One or more wedges are also provided which may be positioned below the support to create a more uneven playing surface.

  • Patent number: 5559874
Abstract: A device is provided to prevent an unauthorized telephone unit from initiating a telephone call, where the unauthorized telephone unit is connected between the central office of the telephone company and the authorized telephone units of the user. The device includes a first detector for detecting a DC current within the lines, and a second detector for detecting the voltage across the lines which lead from the telephone office to the authorized phones. A third detector detects a dual tone multifrequency dialing signal on the line, and a fourth detector detects pulse dialing, and a logic is responsive to all four detectors. When a dialing attempt is made from an unauthorized telephone unit, the first detector will not detect a DC current in the lines to the authorized telephone units, the second detector will detect a drop in voltage across the ring and tip lines, and either the third or fourth detector will detect that a dialing effort is being made.

  • Patent number: 5546941
Abstract: An improved tenometer provides for a bellows and a stepper motor to pressurize the interior of a probe in the barrel into which the probe is fitted for moving the probe outward towards a patient's eye. The device also includes a laser for improved centering of the patient's eye over the eye piece, and a safety detection device for terminating operation of the tenometer if the probe fails to move along the barrel after a given amount of pressure is applied to the interior of the barrel and the probe. A rotatable occluder near the head rest for blocking the eye not being tested and a computer in the instrument records the eye being tested and the test results.

  • Patent number: 5519955
Abstract: A muzzle loading rifle has a cocking member which is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the central axis of the barrel of the rifle and has a cam mounted on the distal end thereof. When the cocking member and the cam are rotated, the cam will move the hammer from a fired position to a cocked position. Second, a cylindrical primer holder having a transverse hole therethrough is provided to retain a primer charge. The primer holder may be rotated from a firing position to a safety position while retaining the charge enclosed within the receiver of the rifle. Third, a safety lever rotates about an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the hammer sear from a first locked position to a second unlocked position. Movement of the safety lever to the second position unlocks the sear and allows the weapon to be fired.

  • Patent number: 5513529
Abstract: An improved industrial meter housing assembly includes a compactly designed metal housing having a central trefoil shaped chamber and minimal length inlet and outlet ports in fluid communication with the chamber with the ports ending at inlet and outlet port faces on the housing outer surface oriented 90.degree.degrees from each other and 45.degree.degrees to the vertical with the housing in its upright position. The housing may be installed as original equipment in an industrial environment having upstream pipe connections provided to match those input and output port faces. However, the compactness of the housing may be utilized together with a pair of installations-specific inlet and outlet runner pipes to enable the combination meter housing/runners to be substituted for any existing original equipment industrial meter.

  • Patent number: 5502511
Abstract: A method and apparatus provides sweep control signals for an expanded display of a selected portion of a television signal. A first counter is preloaded with a number related to the position of the left hand edge of the selected portion of the waveform being monitored and a second counter is preloaded with a number related to the position of the right hand edge of the selected portion of the waveform. Clock pulses are counted by the first counter until the number preloaded therein is reached and then the second counter counts the clock pulses until the number preloaded therein is reached. Control signals are developed when each of the counters has counted the number preloaded therein.

  • Patent number: 5492183
Abstract: The present invention is an improved drill head unit in which the lower portion of the drill chuck has a lobed shaped cross section which fits into a corresponding lobed shaped opening in a shaft connected to a spiral bevel gear mounted for rotation about a vertical axis. The lobed shaped cross section replaces the spline drive previously used in such units, and the spiral bevel gears replace the bevel gears previously used. An improved and simplified radial elastomeric seal is provided to separate a vacuum pressurized cavity in the housing from a lubricating cavity in the housing, and a locking mechanism locks against the drill steel such that the drill steel can be withdrawn from a drilled hole by lowering the drill head unit.

  • Patent number: 5487231
Abstract: An attraction board has a substantially vertically oriented back with a plurality of horizontal tracks thereon, each track having a downwardly extending upper lip and a upwardly extending lower lip for retaining a figure panel therebetween. A downwardly extending upper lip of an upper track, or an upwardly extending lower lip of a lower track is forwardly offset a greater distance from the back of the attraction board than is the complementary upwardly extending lower lip of an upper track, or the complementary downwardly extending upper lip of an upper track. As a result, an enlarged figure panel can be fitted under the upper edge of the downwardly extending upper lip of the upper track, and the bottom edge thereof fitted under the upwardly extending lower lip of the lower track.
