  • Patent number: 4024897
Abstract: A fail-safe interlock system is disclosed for use in conjunction with a truck which has a filler valve for the loading of product, and which eliminates the safety hazard of driving the truck away from a loading facility while a loading hose is still connected to the vehicle's filler valve. Movement of a shield in a direction which permits clear access to the end of the filler valve causes the vehicle's ignition circuit to be broken, thereby preventing driving of the truck while the loading hose is connected to the end of the filler valve; and correspondingly, movement of the shield in the opposite direction to where it at least partially covers the end of the filler valve causes the restoration of the ignition circuit, thereby permitting driving of the vehicle after the loading hose has been safely disconnected.

  • Patent number: 4024698
Abstract: A muffler for use in conjunction with an aspirator during the production of multifilament, synthetic yarn is provided. Audible noise which is emitted at the inlet end of the aspirator is reduced by up to 22.5 .DELTA.dB(A) and brought to within acceptable levels through the use of a perforated tube, resonant chamber, and sound absorbing means. The tension of the aspirated yarn is maintained by finishing the muffler inlet end with a high RMS surface.

  • Patent number: 4015039
Abstract: The addition to filled thermoplastic resin systems of small amounts of fibrous material, of aspect ratio at least about 10 times the aspect ratio of the filler, facilitates dispersion and processing of these filled compositions into shaped articles and gives a product exhibiting superior surface properties.

  • Patent number: 3999910
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a substantially nonturbulent stream of cooling gas for quenching a melt extruded filament, said apparatus comprising a new gas plenum chamber wherein gas diverting means turns and directs the cooling gas through the plenum chamber for passage through a diffuser, simultaneously reducing turbulence and smoothing the velocity profile of the cooling gas for passage through the diffuser. Another feature of the apparatus is its ability to supply different gas rates to the upper and lower zones of the quench cabinet.

  • Patent number: 3995084
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, films of a nylon 6-nylon 6,6 blend are produced by a process which comprises blending about 50 to about 80 percent by weight nylon 6 resin and correspondingly about 50 to about 20 percent by weight nylon 6,6 resin, extruding said blend at a temperature above its melting point onto a smooth moving support to form a coherent film; maintaining said support at a surface temperature in the range of about 230.degree. to about 300.degree. F. and collecting the resultant film. The resultant film has a haze value, as hereinafter defined, in the range of about 5 to about 20 percent, preferably about 8 to about 14 percent. Film having the latter range of haze values is particularly suitable for the production of cooking bags.

  • Patent number: 3975355
Abstract: This invention provides a film or sheet capable of being thermoformed into a shaped article and being formed from a blend of about 60 to 85 parts by weight of a polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of at least about 0.90, about 15 to 40 parts by weight of a polycarbonate and about 5 to 20 parts by weight of a non-acidic silica filler, such as novaculite, the polyethylene terephthalate portion of the film or sheet having a degree of crystallinity in the range of about 20 to 40%. The present invention also provides compositions for forming such films and sheets and shaped articles thermoformed from such films or sheets, such as cook-in-trays. This invention also provides a process of forming such films or sheets.

The film is essentially non-oriented. The present invention also provides shaped articles thermoformed from such film or sheet, such as cook-in-trays. Moreover, this invention provides a process of forming such film or sheet which comprises the steps of blending about 60 to 85 parts by weight of a polyethylene terephthalate polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of at least about 0.90 with correspondingly about 40 to 15 parts by weight of a polycarbonate resin, extruding the resultant blend at a temperature of above about 500.degree.
