  • Patent number: 8051906
Abstract: The assembly includes a pair of heat exchangers, each including an upper and lower manifold, parallel and spaced relative to one another. Tubes extend between each set of upper and lower manifolds with fins disposed between each of the tubes. A valve system controls fluid flow between the upper manifolds and the lower manifolds. The valve system is movable between a maximum cooling mode with fluid flow form the first upper manifold through both of the tubes and to said first lower manifold. A temperate mode allows fluid to flow from the first upper manifold to the first lower manifold and from the second upper manifold to the second lower manifold to prevent flash fogging. A maximum cooling mode allows fluid to flow from the second upper manifold through both of the first and second tubes to the lower manifolds.

  • Patent number: 7954540
Abstract: A HVAC assembly includes a temperature mixing valve that comprises a shaft, an upper paddle, a lower paddle, and a yielding means. The upper paddle and the lower paddle attach to the shaft. The yielding means applies a force to keep the upper paddle sealed to prevent cold air in a cold air inlet from entering a mixing zone and the lower paddle moves away from a shared sealing boundary over a predetermined angle of rotation before the upper paddle initially moves to allow cold air to enter the mixing zone. Movement of the lower paddle away from the shared sealing boundary allows cold air to enter a hot air inlet and admix with hot air to mix in the mixing zone to produce non-stratified air.

  • Patent number: 7861988
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger mounting bracket which has a first member with a retaining channel and a second member with a retaining lug. The retaining channel of the first member retains the retaining lug of the second member at an initial mounting position, with a predetermined retaining force, by way of at least a formation on the first member. The retaining channel and lug are releaseable from one another when a force greater than or equal to the predetermined retaining force is applied between the first and second members. A heat exchanger mounting bracket is also provided where a body member is provided with a longitudinal slot toward one end for locating a portion (P) of a heat exchanger, and a pivotal arrangement toward the other end. The pivotal arrangement and longitudinal slot allow displacement of the portion (P) of the heat exchanger from a fore to an aft position upon application of an impact force.

  • Patent number: 7814757
Abstract: A method of operating a directed relief valve to ventilate a refrigerant by sensing the concentration of refrigerant leakage from the air conditioning system, and if the first concentration exceeds a threshold, by sensing a second concentration. If the first and second concentrations exceed a predetermined concentration, the system will send a leak message to the operator and/or ventilate the refrigerant to the surrounding atmosphere. The system continuously monitors the refrigerant leakage concentration when the vehicle engine is operative, but only periodically monitors the refrigerant leakage concentration when the vehicle engine is inoperative.
