  • Patent number: 8292990
Abstract: A High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system including a pressure reducer assembly for reducing pressurized streams to ambient pressure. The pressure reducer assembly includes first and second flow restrictors, each coupled to a common chamber that acts as a surge suppressor that mitigates pressure spikes in the discharge lines. The flow restrictors may comprise tubes having a high length-to-diameter ratio. The pressure losses through the flow restrictors, in combination with transition losses as the flow stream enters and exits the chamber, are sufficient to reduce a discharge stream from a specified inlet pressure to substantially ambient pressure, thus eliminating the need for pressurized waste containers.

  • Patent number: 8291994
Abstract: A land roller implement has a center frame and a center roller. Wings are pivotally mounted to a wing bracket pivotally mounted to, and extending rearward from, each side of the center frame. The wings and center frame thus move independently up and down when operating. The bracket is locked and wheels mounted on the brackets move the rollers up for transport. Inner and outer rollers on each wing are aligned and separated by a roller spacing. An overlap roller rolls over theis spacing. In transport position the right and left wings extend rearward from the center frame and right and left overlap rollers are aligned with, and adjacent to, each other. During a turn, the wings pivot and move closer to each other. To avoid contact with each other the right and left overlap rollers move forward and rearward to offset positions.

  • Patent number: 8292432
Abstract: An ophthalmic apparatus including a supporting device for a patient and an eye treatment device. The apparatus includes a contact element for spatially fixing an eye of the patient with respect to the treatment device, and a positioning device for shifting the supporting device and a contact element relative to each other in order to position the eye, before it is fixed using the contact element, at a predetermined nominal position relative to the contact elements. The ophthalmic apparatus includes a detection device, which records an image of the eye of the patient present on the supporting device and, on the basis of said recorded image, determines an indication concerning a relative shift of the supporting device with respect to the contact element, which shift is required to move the eye to the nominal position by means of the positioning device.

  • Patent number: 8292566
Abstract: An apparatus for rotary dumping of rail cars, including a backside airflow diverter, a backside hood for removing contaminated air from the back side of the pit and at least two baffles on a rotational frame, the baffles each presenting a leading edge that contacts the backside airflow diverter during at least a portion of rotational motion. At least one air intake is positioned to pass through the upper surface of the backside diverter into the backside hood at a location where pressure in the backside hood is maintained at a substantially neutral or negative level even when pressure in the material receiving pit is increased by a down rush of air caused by the exit of the load from the railcar.

  • Patent number: 8292333
Abstract: An inlet hole capable of inserting a pipe thereinto is formed in a pipe joint body along an axis. Retainer attaching holes for attaching with a retainer that prevents detachment of the pipe are formed in a side surface of the pipe joint body to extend therethrough. These retainer attaching holes are configured symmetrically with respect to an X axis passing through a center of the inlet hole as a symmetrical axis. Thus, a circumference of the inlet hole opens symmetrically, so that the heat shrinkage condition after molding is equalized in the circumferential direction. Accordingly, it is not necessary to process a molding pin for the inlet hole with imbalance of heat shrinkage amount in mind, so that the molding pin becomes easy to process. In addition, the retainer can selectively utilize the retainer attaching holes at two positions, so that selective use depending on installation environment can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 8295562
Abstract: A system of compensating a medical image to make it look like it came from either a different camera or from using a different dye or stain. The medical image is obtained and then processed using characteristics of the non-image related parts of the image. These non-image related parts can include the dye that was used to dye the image or the camera that was used to obtain the image. Then, the raw or partially raw image can be reprocessed using characteristics of the different non-image related part. For example, in one embodiment, the image is deconvolved to remove the influence of the camera that actually obtained the image, then reconvolved with information indicative of a different camera. In this way, the image is processed to make it look like it came from a different camera than the one that actually did in fact form it.

  • Patent number: 8292850
Abstract: A coaxial guide catheter to be passed through guide catheter having a first lumen, for use with interventional cardiology devices that are insertable into a branch artery that branches off from a main artery. The coaxial guide catheter is extended through the lumen of the guide catheter and beyond the distal end of the guide catheter and inserted into the branch artery. The device assists in resisting axial and shear forces exerted by an interventional cardiology device passed through the second lumen and beyond the flexible distal tip portion that would otherwise tend to dislodge the guide catheter from the branch artery.

  • Patent number: 8295977
Abstract: (Object) To enable, in an operation of supplying a medicine to a medicine cassette, in which it is typical that the medicine once put in a vial bottle is recovered to a medicine cassette (medicine receiving container), an operation of specifying the medicine cassette to which the medicine is to be supplied to be performed more accurately and more efficiently. (Solving Means) Information used for specifying the medicine is read by reading a prescription code (d31) recorded as a bar code on a vial bottle (S202) or is input as search information through an operation portion (S221). As a result, a cassette shelf (2) (cassette code (d21)) to which a medicine cassette (1) for receiving the medicine corresponding to the input information is mounted is specified (S203, S224), and a shelf lamp (3) provided to the specified cassette shelf (2) is brought into a predetermined notification display state (blinking state).

  • Patent number: 8292651
Abstract: An output connector for a high voltage, high current power unit, including a plug assembly including a dielectric plug body having two conductive biplates arranged generally parallel to each other. The two conductive biplates abut a dielectric biplate backer and the two conductive biplates are separated by the dielectric biplate backer. A header assembly includes a dielectric header body presenting two substantially parallel, inwardly facing, vertical support walls on opposing sides of the receptacle recess. A bus bar assembly includes two contactors coupled to a flexible bus bar and abutting the vertical support walls. The two contactors are arranged such that a space exists between the contactors. A ring assembly is couplable to the plug assembly and structured to force the plug assembly axially inward to the header assembly whereby the biplates and the biplate backer are forced between the contactors.

  • Patent number: 8292839
Abstract: A switch comprises a rotating switch member which provides fluid communication in three modes; infusion, recirculation and priming The switch is located between the oxygenator and drug bag and the cardioplegia pump raceway. The switch has three channels molded into the rotating manifold which either direct blood and cardioplegia into the coronary arteries of the patient or into a recirculation line. When the switch is rotated into the recirculation line, a hose is in fluid connection through the switch and connects the recirculation line with the pump blood and drug inlet lines thereby allowing cooling of the cardioplegic mixture during the time between infusions.
