  • Patent number: 7706864
Abstract: An electrical method and apparatus for stimulating cardiac cells causing contraction to force hemodynamic output during fibrillation, hemodynamically compromising tachycardia, or asystole. Forcing fields are applied to the heart to give cardiac output on an emergency basis until the arrhythmia ceases or other intervention takes place. The device is used as a stand alone external or internal device, or as a backup to an ICD, atrial defibrillator, or an anti-tachycardia pacemaker. The method and apparatus maintain some cardiac output and not necessarily defibrillation.

  • Patent number: 7702424
Abstract: A load control management protocol, system, and method that address many different customers, individually, in geographic groups, or in other predefined groups to control at least one or more electrical power consuming appliances are disclosed. The computer-implemented protocol provides wired and wireless communication schemes that enable a utility to quickly and efficiently communicate commands and messages to end user devices. Specific electrically powered appliances and certain uses of electricity can therefore be managed by communicating with the controllers of those appliances, providing management of a utility load during peak price and consumption periods to prevent delivery interruptions.

  • Patent number: 7691046
Abstract: Fluid transfer device configured as a vacuum pump particularly suited for nondestructive transfer of fluids, including blood and blood constituents. Fluid transfer device used for assisting in the pumping of blood through a patient's heart for reducing the load on the heart, reducing forces and blood pressure on the inner walls of the heart is reduced. Examples are aortic assist device, a ventricular assist device, or artificial heart. Industrial applications include the pumping of fluids, including destructible fluids such as foodstuff with or without food constituents of various sizes within the foodstuff. Food and other fluids may be stored until they are dispensed. By use of a vacuum, the device is operated at no more than atmospheric pressure. A pre-charged pressure tank may be used, such as where fluid pressure of the pumped fluid, including backpressure of body fluids, where pressure greater than atmospheric is required to expel pumped fluid.

  • Patent number: 7690252
Abstract: A flooded bin measurement system is provided that includes a submarine sampler for ascending and descending within a liquid of a bin and for measuring the depth of fluid at the submarine sampler's location. In one embodiment, the submarine sampler may ascend and descend along a vertical guide based on adjustments to it buoyancy compared with the liquid in the bin, which may be controlled manually and/or automatically. The measurement system may include a bubbler system for measuring hydrostatic pressure at the submarine sampler for determining its depth within the fluid of the bin. The submarine sampler may include a device having a hollow interior, an open bottom and an air supply line connected to the hollow interior. According to a further embodiment of the invention, the submarine sampler may be fixed to a line that is connected to a counterweight at its opposite end.

  • Patent number: 7688722
Abstract: A communication apparatus originally transmits data packets via a first channel based on a first beacon interval. A memory thereof records the first beacon interval. A receiving interface thereof receives information of a second channel. A processor thereof determines whether the second channel has been used according to the information. If not, a transmission interface thereof switches the communication channel to the second channel, and transmits data based on the first beacon interval via the second channel in order to solve the problem that packets are delay for transmission or even abandoned due to overload of the beacon network.

  • Patent number: 7688853
Abstract: A system and method for policing individual flows and subflows of a data stream. Data traffic streams are classified into separate traffic flows, which in turn can be further classified into subflows, thereby providing for different priority levels of subsets of the flow. The subflows may be still further classified into additional subflows, creating a hierarchical, layered prioritization that can be metered at each vertical and horizontal level of the hierarchy. A packet flow rate of each of the subflows is compared to a predefined rate limit to allow subflows of a flow to have different priorities therebetween.
