Abstract: A microscope objective system including an objective, which includes an illumination beam path via which illumination radiation from a source is directed onto an object to be examined, as well as a partial detection beam path surrounding at least part of the illumination beam path and, together with the illumination beam path, forms a detection beam path via which radiation to be detected and coming from the sample is guided towards a detector.

Abstract: The present invention may provide an airbag system for an automobile and a method of operating the same. The airbag system comprises the following: sensors mounted on a frame member of a the vehicle frame for detecting a crash by sequentially measuring stress wave cause by the crash; an electronic control unit for outputting an actuation signal based on outputs from the sensors; an inflator for generating a gas in response to the actuation signal; and an airbag operatively coupled to the inflator and being deployed by supply of the gas generated from the inflator. The sensors are mounted on the frame member at predetermined intervals in a path, along which the stress waves propagate through the frame member. The electronic control unit outputs the actuation signal when each output from each sensor exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A gun for firing a round of caseless ammunition, a round of such ammunition having a projectile and a modular propellant, the projectile and a modular propellant being disposable for firing in a gun tube, includes an actuatable valve being selectively openable to the gun tube, the valve for drawing a negative pressure in the gun tube, the negative pressure acting to pull the round into contact with a breech face such that when a firing pin is forceably released, the firing pin reliably strikes a primer of the modular propellant, the primer igniting the modular propellant, the ignited propellant forcefully discharging the projectile from the gun tube. A firing pin and valve assembly and a method of operating a gun are further included.
Abstract: An imaging system for an optical engine of projection apparatus comprises a body, a prism device, a digital micromirror assembly, a projection lens assembly, and an illumination system. A first slide mechanism disposed between the prism device and the body enables the prism device and the body to move transversely, relative to each other, to form an adjustable distance between the projection lens assembly and the prism device. A second slide mechanism disposed between the digital micromirror assembly and the prism device enables the digital micromirror assembly and the prism device to move transversely, relative to each other, to form an adjustable relative position between an effective optical processing area of the digital micromirror assembly and the bottom of the prism device. Users or technicians may adjust the relative movement between the assemblies conveniently using the springs of a fastening device to fasten the prism device to the body.
Abstract: A mechanical system for sequentially securing skin tissue preferably utilizes a tissue manipulator apparatus to approximate a portion of an interior surface of each of two pieces of living dermis tissue along a vertical interface below an exterior surface such that discrete target tissue zones are defined within the two pieces of living dermis tissue. An applicator apparatus includes a driving head portion positioned in the vertical interface and at least partially below the exterior surface and a handle portion positioned at least partially above the exterior surface. The applicator apparatus unilaterally drives a fastener through a first side of the living dermis tissue and then sequentially drives the fastener through a second side of the living dermis such that the fastener is positioned below the exterior surface and a portion of the fastener is positioned generally transverse to the vertical interface.

Abstract: A lenticulated sheet including a polymeric backing sheet, an imaged transparent sheet having a first smooth side and a second side with a lenticulated region, the transparent sheet optionally having at least one printed image area on the first smooth side and an adhesive layer over the printed image areas and non-image areas of the first smooth side. Air is removed from between the backing layer and the lenticular layer second side, and the adhesive layer is adapted to join the backing layer and the lenticular layer second side. The invention also provides processes useful for preparing a lenticular card including an optional core sheet, or optional primer layers.
Abstract: A lenticulated article including a backing sheet, an imaged transparent sheet having a first smooth side and a second side with a lenticulated region, the transparent sheet optionally having at least one printed image area on the first smooth side and an adhesive layer over the printed image areas and non-image areas of the first smooth side. The second lenticulated side of the transparent sheet has a lenticulated region having a pitch from about 70 to about 100 lenticules per inch, and a ratio of the transparent sheet thickness to the backing sheet thickness is from about 0.25 to about 8.75. The total thickness of the lenticulated article is from about 10 to about 40 mils. The invention also provides processes useful for preparing a lenticular card including an optional core sheet, or optional primer layers.
Abstract: A process for making a lenticular card including: providing an imaged transparent sheet having a first smooth side and a second side with a lenticulated region, the transparent sheet optionally having at least one printed image area on the first smooth side and a moisture cure adhesive layer over the printed image areas and non-image areas of the first smooth side, and the moisture cure adhesive layer being applied with a screen press through a screen; and combining the imaged transparent sheet on the adhesive layer side of the transparent sheet with a backing sheet by nipping the paired sheets with a nip roller. The invention also provides processes useful for preparing a lenticular card including an optional core sheet, or optional primer layers.
Abstract: A door for aircraft is capable of blocking an aperture made in the aircraft. A framing of the door is connected to the fuselage by hinging means. The framing is mounted rotationally on the hinging means. The door is capable of taking two opposite stable positions, by 180° rotation about hinging means. The door comprises means to lock the framing in either of the stable positions. A first face of the framing is fitted with an observation dome, a second face comprising an access hole to the dome.
