  • Patent number: 7427166
Abstract: A new, neutral gender MT-type connector ferrule and adapter are being disclosed. The ferrule consists of a body with a number of optical fiber channels and two, not removable, guide pins. The ferrule does not have a male/female configuration. In our invention, the guiding pins are fixed to the ferrule body and located in the recessed portion of the body in such a way that they do not protrude beyond the face (contact surface) of the fibers. This design has several advantages over the standard MT-type ferrule. The new ferrule is easier to terminate, easier and less expensive to produce and improves the optical performance of the connection by increasing the positioning accuracy of the mating fibers. Connector systems based on this new ferrule design need a novel mating adapter. The design of this adapter is shown in this invention. The new adapter has V-grooves to hold, under pressure, the guiding pins of the ferrules. This zero-gap design contributes to the higher performance of the system.

  • Patent number: 7412866
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a one-piece axle tube housing with localized sections of increased wall thickness includes providing a tube blank, inserting a mandrel having a reduced diameter profile, passing the tube through an extrusion die to conform the tube to the shape of the mandrel; and extraction of the mandrel from the tube to cause outward deformation of the tube at specific locations. A further reducing step may be used to form the final desired profile, including reduced inner and outer diameters along sections of the axle tube housing.

  • Patent number: 7387206
Abstract: A blister pack for dispensing pills that is childproof yet senior-friendly. The blister pack includes a substantially tear-resistant housing that encloses one or more blisters contained on a blister sheet and surrounded by criss-cross grain material to provide cut or tear resistance in multiple directions. In one embodiment, the cavities of the blisters are positioned such that the pills are aligned at an angle with respect to the corresponding dispensing slots on the housing in their normal position. The blisters are detachably attached to a zipper strip on the blister sheet to prevent undesired rotation of the blisters. Upon removal of the zipper strip, the blisters may be twisted until their pills are substantially aligned with their respective dispensing slot. The blisters may then be depressed to remove the pills from the cavities of the blisters by pushing the pills through the foil sheet that covers the slots.

  • Patent number: 7284912
Abstract: An optical fiber interconnect system comprising a connector for carrying an array of optical fibers along a longitudinal axis. The adapter comprises a push-push coupling mechanism configured to receive and couple with the connector upon application of a first pushing force to the connector. The connector is disengaged and may be withdrawn from the adapter upon application of a second pushing force upon the connector. The pushing forces can be applied at a pushing region by using a stylus member. Spring-biased automatic shutters are included in the adapter to provide protection against dust and other contaminants, as well as eye injuries, when only one of the connectors is inserted in the adapter. The release mechanism that disengages the connector and adapter facilitates the handling of a small connector. When the release is operated, the separation of the connector and adapter is initiated actively without the need of a strong pull.
