Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for detecting millimeter waves, having at least one field effect transistor with a source, a drain, a gate, a gate-source contact, a source-drain channel, and a gate-drain contact. Compared to a similar such device, the problem addressed by the present invention, among others, is that of providing a device which enables the provision of a field effect transistor for detecting the power and/or phase of electromagnetic radiation in the Thz frequency range. In order to create such a device, it is suggested according to the invention, that a device be provided which has an antenna structure wherein the field effect transistor is connected to the antenna structure in such a manner that an electromagnetic signal received by the antenna structure in the THz range is fed into the field effect transistor via the gate-source contact, and wherein the field effect transistor and the antenna structure are arranged together on a single substrate.

  • Patent number: 8128857
Abstract: A method of shortening cycle time required to compression mold shingle or tile is provided, wherein carrier plates are comprised of a surface material and a base, and receive a thermoplastic material, thereon. The roofing material is applied to the carrier plate and the carrier plate is subjected to induction heating, by which its surface material has its temperature raised, without substantially raising the temperature of the carrier plate base, such that the thermoplastic material applied thereto is kept heated in the compression mold. Cooling of the thermoplastic material is by heat transfer from the carrier plate surface material to the carrier plate base, and with both materials having good heat conduction capability. The carrier plate surface material has a high receptivity to being heated by induction heating relative the carrier plate base. The carrier plates are serially delivered through the process, to the compression mold.

  • Patent number: 7102125
Abstract: In the field of wellbore data logging it is known to use isotopic neutron sources in a neutron capture logging technique. However, continuous isotopic sources are unpopular for regulatory and safety reasons. Attempts to employ neutron generator tubes to generate neutron bursts for use in the neutron capture technique have encountered various difficulties in areas connected with signal identification and processing. The disclosure relates to a method of data logging in which a low burst rate neutron generator tube is pulsed at comparatively low rates to generate neutron bursts that are captured in atomic nuclei in a proximal formation. The gamma radiation arising from the neutron capture is detected over a gating intervals defined by temporally distinct points. The gamma detector output is integrated over the gating interval to provide a measure of the decay rate that is independent of the pulse rate. Consequently the signal processing problems do not arise.

  • Patent number: 7099806
Abstract: A sizing processing system according to the present invention generates an offset figure based on an offset point set obtained by offsetting the respective sides of a source figure by a distance equal to a prescribed sizing amount. When an inside-out side is detected on the offset figure, two sides of the source figure that intersect at a vertex thereof associated with the detected inside-out side are translated by a distance equal to the prescribed sizing amount, and the respective end points of the thus translated sides corresponding to that vertex are taken as offset points. Then, the offset points are added to the offset point set to generate an offset figure that does not entail the generation of an inside-out side. This can also address the problem of an inside-out side that occurs when an edge cut is inserted in the offset figure.
