    Abstract: A method of controlling an exoskeleton bracing system to walk includes identifying an expected current stance, receiving a tilt signal from a tilt sensor, and receiving a ground force signal from ground force sensors. Motorized joints are actuated to forwardly extend a leg brace when the expected stance includes standing with the leg braces together, the tilt signal indicates tilting forward, and the ground force signal indicates leaning on an opposite leg brace. Motorized joints are actuated to extend a trailing leg brace forward beyond a forwardly extended leg brace when the expected stance includes a forwardly extended leg brace and a trailing leg brace, the tilt signal indicates tilting forward, and the ground force signal indicates leaning on the forwardly extended leg brace. Motorized joints are actuated to converge both leg braces to a standing stance when the ground force signal indicates leaning on a trailing leg brace.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of copper ions to achieve enhanced retention of a therapeutic agent within a liposome. The invention may be employed to more effectively deliver a liposomally encapsulated therapeutic agent to a target site in vitro and in vivo for anti-cancer or other therapy. The liposome may comprise an interior buffer solution containing the therapeutic agent, the solution having a pH less than 6.5 and most preferably approximating pH 3.5. At least some of the copper ions are retained within the interior solution. In a particular embodiment the therapeutic agent may be a chemotherapeutic drug, such as irinotecan. The invention may also comprise an ionophore to facilitate loading of drug into the liposome. In one particular embodiment the combination of the ionophore A23187 and encapsulated divalent copper (Cu2+) resulted in an irinotecan formulation that exhibited surprisingly improved drug retention attributes.

    Abstract: A telecommunications satellite having a phased array antenna, wherein the beam-forming function within the phased array is simplified by partitioning it into two stages, in which the sub-array stage relates to a fixed, or infrequently changed, set of overlapping sub-arrays and the main stage provides the main pattern reconfiguration, typically in the form of multiple reconfigurable spot beams within a defined coverage region. The key advantage lies in the significant reduction in number of second stage beam-forming control points (at which independent amplitude and phase is applied) when compared with a conventional phased array (where amplitude and phase control is applied for each element of the array). The sub-array stage beam-forming may be implemented in analogue technology. The main beam-former may be implemented in digital technology, where the key processing functions of A/D or D/A conversion, frequency (de)multiplexing and digital beam-forming all scale with the number of control points.
