  • Patent number: 4529423
Abstract: A phase separator or vapor trap is provided for use with a plastic extruder. The phase separator includes housing means which define a first chamber for separating hydrocarbon compounds from exhaust vapor, an internal conduit located within the first chamber, and a couple which joins extruder discharge conduit with the inlet of the internal conduit. The inlet means provides a larger cross-sectional area than the extruder vapor exhaust conduit. The first chamber includes a baffle which surrounds the internal conduit and further defines at least one flow opening. The aggregate cross-sectional area of the flow openings are substantially the same as the cross-sectional area of the discharge conduit. Diffusion means adjustably attached to the end of the internal conduit causes radial diffusion of the exhaust vapor within the first chamber.

  • Patent number: 4528354
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the manufacture of products from silicone rubber stock which includes forming a mixture of silicone rubber components, such as silicone monomers, oligomers, or polymers, microcapsules containing a cross-linking agent for silicone rubber components and, optionally, one or more additives. The cross-linking agent is maintained in microcapsules isolated from the silicone rubber components until a predetermined temperature and pressure are reached. The mixture is flowed into a mold cavity under heat and pressure prior to any significant cross-linking agent-induced cross-linking during a first portion of the molding cycle. During a second portion of the molding cycle, the cross-linking agent is released to effect substantially all cross-linking agent-induced cross-linking. The cured mixture is removed from the mold cavity to provide a silicone rubber product.

  • Patent number: 4527843
Abstract: A bed pan washing and disinfecting machine has a cradle mounted on a transverse shaft in a washing chamber of the machine, the cradle having an upper part to receive a bed pan in a substantially horizontal orientation and a lower part to receive a urine bottle substantially in the orientation of use so that there is no spillage during loading. After loading of the bed pan and urine bottle and closure of a door of the machine, the shaft is rotated clockwise through 110.degree. to rotate the cradle and thus to empty the bed pan and urine bottle within the washing chamber. Cold water flushes the bed pan contents through a water trap of the machine, hot water washes the bed pan and urine bottle, and a steam cycle washes and disinfects the bed pan and urine bottle before the cradle is rotated back to its original position.

  • Patent number: 4527787
Abstract: A medical table which can be used for examination of the spine and for other diagnostic and therapeutic back procedures, including discography and surgery, and which can be adapted for use with imaging devices, has a bottom support frame, a front support frame resting on the front of the bottom support frame, and a rear support frame resting on the bottom support frame. The front and rear support frames are spaced from each other to provide a substantial clearance for imaging devices including radiographic and fluoroscopic apparatus. A radiolucent top panel is supported at one end by the front support frame and at the other end by the rear support frame. The use of front and rear support frames rather than side support frames eliminates radiopaque material adjacent to the top panel and permits oblique, lateral, as well as anterioposterior views to be taken.

  • Patent number: 4524043
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of glass fiber-reinforced polyester products is disclosed. A ready-to-mold resin and reinforcement composite is prepared using an initiator which has been microencapsulated in order to prevent initiator-induced cross-linking of the resin reactants. The initiator is released during the molding of the composite by rupture of the microcapsules due to internal vapor pressure developed at a preselected molding temperature. The encapsulation of the initiator provides improved homogeneity and increased flowability of the composites during molding, and enables the provision of molded polyester products having higher degrees of cure and more defect-free finish surfaces.
