    Abstract: A three or four-terminal electronic control circuit utilizes a thyristor and a transistor connected in their regenerative circuit or, alternatively, three transistors interconnected in a regenerative circuit. The thyristor is connected to operate in a remote base mode as a low gain PNP transistor, together with a bipolar NPN transistor. The thyristor and transistor are connected in a regenerative circuit which results in very high gain, low input current, with low cost and complete control for ON and OFF, and even intermediate range conditions due to direct access to the base of the NPN transistor. A switch may be connected to the base of the NPN transistor to control the current thereinto, and when current flows into this base, then the transistor and thyristor are connected toward regenerative conduction. When the base current is terminated by the switch, then the circuit degenerates toward non-conduction.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for an air bearing support of a rotatable tooling bar, such as a boring bar. One or two mandrels may be provided for this tooling bar to form a complete mandrel assembly with the tooling bar. An air pressure expansible collet is provided on each mandrel so that each may be clamped within a clamping aperture, such as an aperture on the workpiece itself. Air under pressure is supplied to the two mandrels simultaneously to accomplish, first, an air bearing centering of each mandrel around the tooling bar as a guide; second, an expansion of the collet on each mandrel for clamping of each mandrel within the clamping apertures; and, third, provision of an air bearing support and centering of the tooling bar within the two mandrels during machining for precise machining of the workpiece by the continued air supply.

    Abstract: A bimetal snap disc thermostat is disclosed which is structured for automated assembly. Such thermostat includes a body with contact supports molded therein in a manner providing sufficient strength so that terminals can be riveted onto the contact supports after assembly. The body and contact support subassembly is structured so that it is symmetrical on opposite sides of a central axis. A disc cup is provided with axial and radial surfaces which accurately locate the disc during and after assembly. Also disclosed is a method of gaging and calibrating the thermostat automatically. Calibration of the spring force of the movable contact is accomplished by sensing the force in a given position and subsequently deforming the spring until a predetermined force exists in such predetermined position. Gaging is accomplished by deforming a projection from the movable contact arm until a predetermined uniform spacing is established between such projection and a gaging surface.

The device also has M current inputs, respectively connected to M of the connections and an output connected to the first main electrode and which is to be raised to a logic level determined as a function of the values of currents injected by the inputs.     Abstract: A device for classifying handled objects. This device comprises a mechanical sorting system and an electronic control system. The former comprises two storage devices, each organized in the form of a queue or line, i.e., the objects can be removed in the order in which they are entered, and a third storage device organized in the form of a stack or pile, i.e., the objects can be removed in the opposite order to that in which they entered. The mechanical system also comprises conveyors for transferring the objects between the different storage devices. The electronic system comprises a control computer, equipped with two memory zones organized in the form of a queue, and a third memory zone organized in the form of a stack, in which are stored the codes allocated to each object. The computer controls the transfer of codes from one memory zone to another, in order to sort in one of them the codes in a given order, and controls the corresponding displacement of the objects carrying the codes.

    Abstract: A tension control system for a baling machine has a pressure switch connected to the high pressure fluid supply. The switch is operable to actuate when the pressure of the fluid supply exceeds a predetermined level, such as when the baling head ram cylinder is approaching a stalled condition. A solenoid controlled valve is located between the high pressure fluid supply and the fluid cylinder which operates the tension mechanism on the throat portion of the baling machine. The solenoid is operatively connected to the pressure switch to close when the pressure of the fluid supply exceeds to predetermined level. When the valve closes, fluid pressure in the tension cylinder is relieved so that the cylinder operating the baling head does not become stalled. When the baling head is again capable of operation, the pressure switch deactuates, returning the valve to an open condition so that tension is restored to the throat portion of the baling machine.
