  • Patent number: 6264545
Abstract: A stream of coins of mixed denominations is passed through a first station in which the mixed coins are counted and the stream of mixed coins is then sorted to segregate coins of a selected denomination from those of other denominations. The coins of the other denominations are deposited into a first vault chamber, and the coins of the selected denomination are deposited into a second vault chamber. A report of the value of the counted coins of all denomination is generated. At a processing station to which the vault chambers are transported, the coins of the selected denomination in the second vault chamber from repeated sorting operations by many users can be weighed to determine the total value thereof. Thus, only the coins of other denominations need to be counted and separated into denominations, thereby reducing the processing time, the wear on high speed counting and sorting apparatus, and the costs of coin processing.

  • Patent number: 6199266
Abstract: A superconductor cable with high interstrand resistance is produced from superconductor wire strands which has been electroplated with nickel. The wire strands have filaments of a superconductor alloy in a normally conducting metal matrix and are electroplated before they are formed into an elongated bundle of generally circular cross section. This bundle is then deformed and compacted into a superconductor cable of generally polygonal cross section which is usually trapezoidal. The superconductor wire is preferably comprised of a multiplicity of filaments of niobium/titanium superconductor alloy disposed within a matrix of copper.

  • Patent number: 6178386
Abstract: A partial discharge fault in a transformer tank is determined by sensing supersonic vibrations at a multiplicity of points about the tanks and establishing a threshold amplitude and a frequency range for pulse vibrations to be evaluated. The signals from the multiplicity of points are multiplexed, synchronized and localized and then processed in a series of steps. After the existence of triggering pulse vibrations exceeding an established threshold amplitude and within an established frequency and range is initially determined, a wavelet transform is conducted on the multiplexed signals two at a time with one signal being the signal from the first sensor found to provide a signal above the threshold amplitude. The wavelet transform provides both frequency and time domain.

  • Patent number: 6167662
Abstract: A method of assembling window or door frames includes the step of injecting, and partially setting, adhesive (14) in at least one intermediate space (13) between the glass (3) and the frame sections (1) whereby the gears and frame section are adhesively bonded. The frame section (1) has at least one intake channel (1) for adhesive (14) extending through it and connecting the intermediate space (13) for the adhesive (14) to the outside of the frame section, and the adhesive is injected therethrough.

  • Patent number: 6168006
Abstract: A machine tool/parts sorter assembly includes a machine tool having a frame and a workstation at which multiple parts are cut from a workpiece as it is moved in a horizontal plane relative to the workstation. A sorter is coupled with the machine tool frame for separately guiding different parts to different discharge areas adjacent the machine tool. The sorter includes a guide member adjacent the workstation for receiving the parts from the workstation, a pair of spaced, downwardly inclined guide chutes for discharging parts to separate discharge areas, and an actuator for selectively moving the guide member to discharge parts thereon into the guide chutes.

  • Patent number: 6151849
Abstract: A composite door with a lite utilizes panels with aligned cutouts and a foam retainer member which extends about the cutouts between the panels to effect a seal. The retainer has a mounting portion extending inwardly from the cutout periphery. The lite is disposed in the cutout and it is secured by an external frame which has portions overlying the outer surface of the panel and its marginal portion. A clamp secured to the foam retainer and external frame and clamps the lite to the external frame, and an internal frame has portions overlying the outer surface of the other panel and the marginal portion of the other surface of the lite and conceals the clamp and fastener.
