    Abstract: A modular abrasive agent water jet cutting head (1) has a nozzle (4) issuing a high-speed water jet (16), a mixing chamber (10) through which the high speed water jet passes (16), an abrasive agent supply line (14), and a focussing nozzle (15) forming the outlet of the mixing chamber (10). A dosing unit (12) has an axial passage of the high-speed water jet (16). The passage (18) has one or more expansions or channels (11) extending radially and which are of reduced cross section at the passage. There are preferably in each case are formed as a slits, which are only slightly wider than the diameter of the thickest abrasive particle. The expansion or channel (11) is closely connected to the passage of the high-speed water jet (16) and introduces the abrasive agent into a chordal section of the water jet (16) which is oriented in the direction of the cutting action. From there the high-speed water jet (16) receives a track of abrasive agent on its surface.

    Abstract: A resistance measuring device is coupled with a controller for controlling the parameters of the cutting process. The device is connected between the laser cutting head of the machine of an electrically conducting part of the laser cutting head and workpiece, and the amount of the electrical resistance of the medium between the laser cutting head and the workpiece can be determined when cutting electrically conducting workpieces. In this method, the amount of the electrical resistance of the medium between the laser cutting head and the workpiece is determined, and the distance between the cutting head and workpiece is also determined. Depending on the detected values of the electrical resistance and distance, the parameters of the cutting process are controlled to obtain efficient cutting action.

    Abstract: A protective cover for an object being transported in an airstream comprises a flexible cover member adapted to cover the object. The cover has front and rear ends, a top, two sides, and a bottom providing an opening to fit over the object. The cover member also has at least one exhaust aperture intermediate its ends with a venting member disposed over it. The bottom of the cover member is seated around the periphery of the object to reduce the airflow thereinto. The venting member has a base portion secured to the cover member about the aperture, and a body portion extending outwardly therefrom. The body portion has a closed end oriented towards the front end of the cover member and an open end disposed toward the rear end of the cover member.

    Abstract: A wheel dolly for moving truck tires and drums to and from a wheel on a truck has an elongated frame for disposition on a base surface oriented in substantial axial alignment with the wheel of a vehicle. The frame has a pair of elongated and parallel spaced cylindrical members formed of sections which have telescoping adjacent ends. End braces extend across and are secured to the opposite ends of the cylindrical members. A carrier is slidably seated on the cylindrical members for movement therealong, and it has a planar central portion and angular portions depending therefrom outwardly of the frame to provide ramp surfaces. The carrier also has rollers supported on the lower surface of the central portion which are configured to seat on the cylindrical members.

The portions on the conveyor are blown by a compressed air unit (8) and a spraying nozzle into the drying oven (9), through which warmed exhaust air, further heated in the drying oven (9), flows. The drying oven (9) consists of a climbing shaft (12), closed via a heater (10) with a screen (11), an eddy chamber (16) connected to a funnel (17) to the lower end the eddy chamber (16), a line (18) from the eddy chamber (16) to a catching tank (19), and a suction connection (20).

    Abstract: A pivotable door assembly has stiles and rails which are coupled by brackets having side walls defining a channel opening at the outer ends thereof. Pivot inserts are seated in the brackets on one side of said door and include a body member slidably seated in the channel and a pivot member rotatably seated in the body portion and extending outwardly of said open outer end of said bracket for engagement with the floor and ceiling. The pivot inserts include adjustable fasteners seated in the body member and cooperating with the bracket for adjusting the position of said pivot insert along the length of said channel and thereby the length of the pivot member extending outwardly of the bracket. The body member is comprised of a base element and a movable element which seats the pivot member and is horizontally adjustable. A cover is desirably snap fit over the brackets.

    Abstract: A three-wheeled, battery-powered personal vehicle has a single rear wheel at the end of a swing arm pivotally supported on the vehicle chassis. A motor, also pivotally supported on the chassis, pivots about the same axis as the swing arm, pivots and powers the rear wheel through a endless drive member. The chassis is provided by a lightweight, synthetic resin tub with substantial structural rigidity. The upper body is a separate synthetic resin tub which can be nested within the chassis for shipment and readily assembled thereto at the point of sale. The assembled chassis and upper body define a generally ovoidal configuration. Batteries are carried in a front compartment and provide crash protection for frontal impacts and other batteries are located beneath the vehicle seat to provide a low center of gravity. Transversely extending chassis members provide structural stiffness as well as support elements for the assembly.

The metallo-functionalized surface is contacted with bisquinoline or a bisquinoline to produce a deposit of an oligomeric metallo-bisquinoline chelate, which is then contacted with the reactant metal compound to produce a fresh metallo-functionalized surface on the deposit. The fresh metallo-functionalized surface is contacted with the bisquinoline reactant to produce a further deposit of the oligomeric metallo-bisquinoline chelate, and these steps are repeated until a desired thickness of the deposit has been attained.

    Abstract: A coin roll dispenser has a number of coin magazines each filled with rolls of coins of a given denomination and removably seated within a housing. Each magazine has a motorized conveyor adapted to receive and sequentially dispense individual coin rolls through a discharge aperture into a discharge passage which transports the coin rolls dispensed from the magazines to a receptacle from which they may be removed by a purchaser. Dispensing is controlled by activating the conveyor in selected magazines. A first sensor detects the coin rolls as they are dispensed from the magazines and a sensor in advance of the receptacle produces a total count which is compared with the total ordered and the total from the first sensor.

    Abstract: Torsional vibrations in a rotating structure having a relatively large mass and subject to varying frequencies of torsional excitation are damped by determining the frequency of torsional excitation of the rotating structure and coupling to the rotating structure a damping pendulum of smaller mass to provide an absorber unit rotating therewith. The angular displacement of the damping pendulum relative to the rotating structure is continuously monitored, and the frequency of excitation is determined. The monitored displacement of the damping pendulum together with the mass damper characteristics of the absorber unit are processed to output a signal which produces a control torque on the damping pendulum proportional to the monitored displacement of the damping pendulum with a controlled time delay to produce control torque on the damping pendulum substantially equal to the torsional excitation of the rotating structure.
