  • Patent number: 5037167
Abstract: In order to protect electrical and fiber optic cables in a central telephone office terminal equipment frame, the cables are controlled and managed so as to be releasably retained in a service loop within a fiber management panel. The releasable retention is performed by a stretched extension spring selected, dimensioned and stretched in such a manner with respect to the diameter of the cables that each cable can be gently but firmly retained when pressed into the gap between adjacent coils. The retention spring permits emergency release of the cable in the event of mishandling of the equipment by service personnel.

  • Patent number: 5033044
Abstract: A system for aligning framing bits from independent digital transmission facilities with framing of a higher transmission rate facility includes a RAM memory. Received framing bits from the independent digital transmission facilities are stored at RAM locations in accordance with multiframe addresses of the framing bits relative to the multiframe format of the independent facility. Multiframe indicator bytes indicative of the framing of the higher transmission rate facility are used as addresses to read framing bits from RAM. The multiframe address of the independent digital transmission facilities is established by a counter for each independent facility, said counter being synchronized to the framing of the independent facility and incremented to provide addresses identical to the multiframe indicator bytes of the higher transmission rate facility.

  • Patent number: 5031984
Abstract: An electro-optical module has at least threee ports, with at least one port having an active electro-optical device for connection to electrical circuitry and at least one port having an optical port for connection to an optical fiber link. A passive coupler interfaces the various ports. The passive coupler is formed of optical fibers mounted on glass using an adhesive that exhibits refractive index-matching characteristics. The fiber-on-glass coupler is extremely small, allowing for the module to have minimal size. The coupler may be wavelength selective or wavelength insensitive. If a wavelength-selective coupler is utilized, the end surface of an optical fiber is coated with a dichroic filter to provide wavelength sensitivity. An optical fiber adapted to receive light for connection to a detector is selected to be a multi-mode fiber to increase reception of light. The remaining fibers may be single-mode fibers.

  • Patent number: 5031129
Abstract: A parallel pseudo-random generator emulates a serial pseudo-random generator which in turn is defined by a polynomial of the type 1+x.sup.M + . . . +x.sup.P ; that is, wherein the serial outputs are generated such that the next serial output value is based upon an Exclusive OR combination of at least two preceding serial output values. The parallel pseudo-random generator comprises latches and Exclusive OR gates, the number of latches and Exclusive OR gates each being at least equal to the polynomial order of the serial pseudo-random generator defining polynomial. The outputs of the latches represent the outputs of the parallel pseudo-random generator and may be used to scramble data on parallel data lines. A method is disclosed for determining the interconnects between the latch outputs and the Exclusive OR gate inputs based upon the number of latches and the serial pseudo-random generator defining polynomial.

  • Patent number: 5030955
Abstract: A remote control transmitter includes a function selector device (17) for outputting selection signals in dependence on a function selected by operating the device. A function is selected by tilting the function selector device which includes optically functioning tilt switches. For this purpose, a ball guide housing (50) is constructed with five ball resting places, i.e. places in which a ball (K) within each specified tilt range always adopts a stable position. At one of the ball resting places a light transmitter (D) is mounted, while at other ball resting places light receivers (P1-P3) are located. A multi-bit signal is outputted by the light receivers, with the different bit sequences corresponding to different selection signals.

  • Patent number: 5031094
Abstract: A switch controller for a dynamic switch responds to command from a using system to provide control signals to the dynamic switch which causes the switch to establish and breakdown paths between sources and destinations in the using system. The controller includes a plurality of command registers which are temporarily assigned to a command source for receiving command signals, decoding said signals and providing control signals to the switch for establishing or breaking down a switch path. The controller may if desired provide an echo to a selected destination so that proper execution of commands may be ascertained. After the commands are completed the control register is released for reassignment to another command source while an established switch path remains intact. Thus, commands may be received from any source for controlling the switch.

  • Patent number: 5027097
Abstract: A coil-carrier half (11) for a saddle-coil arrangement for a cathode ray tube accomodates a saddle-coil winding, in a front groove (13), a rear groove (14), left slots (18.11-18.51) and right slots. Prolongation of the left slots in comparison with the right slots results from the presence. in a rear wall (15.h) of a front-groove, at the positions where the left slots open out into the groove, of steps which are greater towards the front than at the fan-out positions of the right slots. In an asymmetrically built coil-carrier half of this sort, turns (12)' are introduced in each slot so that they run towards the prolongation position of the slot. This produces a saddle-coil arrangement which leads to fewer image defects than when a conventional saddle-coil arrangement with symmetrical coil-carrier halves is used.

  • Patent number: 5020052
Abstract: Packet switching network with first and second cascaded parts, including first and second switching modules respectively. In the second switching modules, the path selection is controlled by routing information contained in the packets. In the first switching modules this selection is performed without using routing information only for a path set-up packet, while for the following packets use is made of routing information on the route followed by the path set-up packet. Each module decides to multiplex an input stream on an output only when a calculated traffic load is smaller than a limit value. This load is calculated from traffic load parameters contained in the path set-up packet.
