  • Patent number: 4799917
Abstract: This invention relates to an oscillating hoop and stick assembly having an actuator stick assembly resembling a driver golf club structure having a lower hoop actuator member to contact a dual hoop assembly. The hoop actuator member is of generally C-shape having an outer hoop contact surface for moving a dual hoop assembly. The dual hoop assembly is provided with first and second hoop members interconnected by a connector assembly. The second hoop member is connected to the internal surface at a certain point on an outer periphery thereof to the first hoop member with a connector assembly which maintains their predetermined set relationship. A center axis of the first and second hoop members have a common point but the outer surfaces diverge outwardly therefrom so as to provide for offset relationship in the wobbling or oscillating movement thereof over a support surface to provide the novelty of this invention.

  • Patent number: 4676503
Abstract: This invention is a break-away basketball goal apparatus having numerous embodiments but basically a feature whereby downward pressure on a basketball rim assembly causes the same to pivot or release to prevent damage to a backboard member. A few embodiments utilize biasing means to automatically restore a released rim assembly to its normal, horizontal usage condition. Other embodiments have an actuator latch assembly positioned in a concealed manner behind the backboard member. One other embodiment is a backboard break-away latch goal assembly wherein a portion of the backboard member with a rim assembly attached thereto breaks away on downward pressure applied thereto. It is the purpose of the break-away basketball goal apparatus to release a rim assembly when excessive pressure is applied thereto (normally by a basketball player during a dunking operation) to prevent breakage of the backboard member.

  • Patent number: 4653167
Abstract: A rotary tool assembly and method for repairing dents in sheet metal features a self-drilling sheet metal screw held within a rotary chuck. A back plate is coupled for relative rotation and limited axial movement about an outer anchor portion of the chuck. A threaded ram secures the self-drilling sheet metal screw within the chuck. A coupling shaft portion of the ram is engaged by the chuck of a power drill. In operation, the self-drilling sheet metal screw of the rotary tool assembly is pressed against a dented portion of a sheet metal panel which is to be straightened. Rotation of the chuck causes an outer drill bit section of the self-drilling sheet metal screw to penetrate the sheet metal to form a drilled hole, back pressure is maintained, and the sheet metal is pulled outwardly. Drilling is continued until the sheet metal panel is pulled against the back plate which may be of various sizes and shapes.
