  • Patent number: 5341157
Abstract: A computer driven device for making silk screens suitable for making signs, PC boards, mask, metal, textile graphics and the like is disclosed. The device uses a laser beam to burn holes in a thin sheet of plastic, preferably nylon. The laser beam is directed toward the surface of the nylon screen and the beam is moved incrementally under computer control to position the two before activation of the laser. The desired sign or pattern to be burned into the screen is constructed by means of a microprocessor or PC using a desk top type publishing program. The finished nylon "silk" screen can be used in the same manner as conventional silk screens.

  • Patent number: 5332563
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for generating reactive species for destroying toxic chemicals. This process first contacts air or oxygen with aqueous emulsions of molten yellow phosphorus. This contact results in rapid production of abundant reactive species such as O, O.sub.3, PO, PO.sub.2, etc. A gaseous or liquid aqueous solution organic or inorganic chemicals is next contacted by these reactive species to reduce the concentration of toxic chemical and result in a non-toxic product. The final oxidation product of yellow phosphorus is phosphoric acid of a quality which can be recovered for commercial use. A process is developed such that the byproduct, phosphoric acid, is obtained without contamination of toxic species in liquids treated. A gas stream containing ozone without contamination of phosphorus containing species is also obtained in a simple and cost-effective manner.

  • Patent number: 5314116
Abstract: A pulsator, adapted for use in irrigation and other systems requiring the uniform discharge of water or other liquids in intermittent pulses and at regular frequencies, comprises a casing having an expansible elastomeric tube disposed therein. The tube is adapted to be exposed to pressurized liquid for movement between contracted and expanded conditions of operation for controlling the intermittent opening of a valve, formed in part by the tube. A flow control, located at the inlet to the pulsator, functions to modulate the pressure of the incoming liquid to control the flow rate of the liquid communicated to an expansible chamber defined in part by the tube. When the pressure in the chamber exceeds a predetermined level, the valve will open to intermittently discharge pulses of liquid to a distributor, such as an irrigation sprayer. The pulsator is preferably structured to insure continuous communication of liquid from the inlet to the pulsator to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5255528
Abstract: The invention relates to an absorption system having a regenerator (17) wherein an absorption process of the absorption of low-pressure ammonia vapor into a weak liquid solution of ammonia-water is carried out in the shell (16) of the regenerator (17) with the heat of absorption being used in a generation process wherein a high-pressure ammonia water solution is boiled in a conduit (14) passing through the regenerator (17). A waste heat recovery conduit (40, 40', 40") is provided for concurrent flow of an ammonia-water solution and ammonia-water vapor, the flow being heated (46) to boil the solution. The heated vapor is then introduced into the absorption process in the shell (16) of the regenerator (17) with the heat (46) used to boil the solution in the waste heat recovery conduit (40) being recuperated in the regenerator as the hot vapor is absorbed into the ammonia-water solution therein.
