  • Patent number: 4041370
Abstract: A method for rapid acquisition and handling of root mean square values of the time dependent current and/or voltage in single or multi-phase a.c. mains wherein each of these values is converted into two intermediate values shifted in phase by 90.degree. and fed into a computer circuit the output of which provides analog d.c. signals indicating the reactive or actual power, or the r.m.s. values of the voltage and current dependent upon the particular type of computer which is used. The analog d.c. signals are fed into a following regulator unit having an integrating portion to adjust a regulating value to serve as a nominal value which is then compared with an applied actual value and the difference therebetween is then fed into the regulator unit. The control signal at the output of the regulator unit is read periodically and transmitted to a final control element and the regulating value is adjusted during the course of one or a fraction of one cycle of the a.c. mains frequency.

  • Patent number: 4039009
Abstract: At the end of a crane arm on a base vehicle is fixed a frame, the inclination of which is controlled by double-acting hydraulic cylinders, and which supports hydraulically operated grip arms and a cutting unit. The frame is moved with an estimated inclination against a tree, and the grip arms urge the frame into conformance with the actual inclination of the tree, thereby inducing strains in the tree as well as the firmly based crane arm. A valve connecting the inlet and outlet of each hydraulic cylinder is momentarily opened from its hitherto closed position, so that the fluid in the cylinder is forced to equalize under the strains from the biased tree which consequently will be relieved from tension before cutting, otherwise resulting in cracks in the root end of the tree.

  • Patent number: 4037160
Abstract: A method of adjusting and readjusting an automatic corrector for a data signal transmission system, the corrector serving to restore pulse-amplitude-modulated signals which have suffered linear distortions in a transmission channel. A transversal filter of the corrector receives during a first adjustment phase a reference signal sequence transmitted over the transmission channel and an identical reference signal produced at the receiving end to produce error signals which serve to adjust the transversal filter coefficients stored in the corrector. The filter coefficients are subdivided into at least two groups and during the first phase one group of filter coefficients is calculated with a more attenuated error signal than the filter coefficients of the other group.
