  • Patent number: 7172535
Abstract: An exercise apparatus for isolating and strengthening upper back and shoulder muscles including opposed first and second outboard support members containing separate and opposed sets of stacked weights supported for reciprocation vertically, and an upper cross-member containing a pair of aligned upper roller tracks. The frame includes a pair of inboard first and second crossbars supported at opposed ends in upper and lower roller tracks of the frame, such that the crossbars are manipulated in opposed outwardly directions by the user positioned therebetween. Separate cables and supporting pulleys are utilized to extend between first and second crossbars for connections to respective opposed sets of stacked weights, allowing for concurrent movement of weights when each crossbar is moved laterally outwardly and inwardly by user's right and left hands in palm-out orientation, thereby isolating and strengthening the user's upper back and shoulder muscles.

  • Patent number: 7142693
Abstract: Method of grading a sample. An input color image of the sample, such as a sample of raw cotton, is obtained by a scanning technique. This image is first analyzed by an image segmentation module and a binary image where pixels of a first characteristic are marked as 0 (e.g. cotton lint) and non-lint pixels are marked as 1. In a following particle recognition module, the adjacent non-lint pixels are grouped together as particles, and the color, size, shape and edge strength for each particle are computed. The particle descriptions are analyzed and each particle is assigned a trash type, i.e. leaf, bark, grass, pepper trash or shadow. The data of leaf and pepper trash are analyzed by a leaf grading module and leaf grade is reported. The data of bark/grass are analyzed by a bark/grass grading module and the bark/grass grade is reported.

  • Patent number: 7117950
Abstract: A vehicular and marine fire suppression system for detecting and suppressing and quenching fires. The vehicular and marine fire suppression system including a first canister, a second canister and an actuation mechanism. The first canister houses a fire suppressing agent and is in fluid communication with a manifold assembly for providing delivery of the fire suppression agent from the first canister to the area to be protected by the fire suppression system. The second canister contains a pressurizing/agitation agent and is in fluid communication with the first canister via a valved actuator assembly. The second canister includes a threaded neck defining an outlet and a pierceable seal disposed about the outlet. The actuator assembly includes a piercing member for rupturing the pierceable seal of the second canister. The piercing member is in active engagement with a piston carried by a squib.

  • Patent number: 7104246
Abstract: A multi-part module including a flame cone and a connector adapted to be interposed between the normal spark plug port in an internal combustion engine block and a spark plug suitable for use with the engine in question. In the method, a quantity of fuel/air mixture is captured in a chamber which also houses the electrode of a spark plug. Upon generation of a spark from the spark plug, this quantity of fuel/air mixture ignites, generating a flame which propagates through one or more channels in a flame cone interposed between the spark plug and the cylinder of the engine and exits into the cylinder through multiple directionally oriented ports, whereupon the flame fronts rapidly ignite substantially all the fuel/air mixture held within the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7106219
Abstract: A decentralized, mobile system for reporting and monitoring vehicular traffic status. A vehicle has a position determining device, a transceiver, and a local display and controller connected to a processor. The transceiver receives, transmits, and repeats local traffic and vehicle information, such as location, direction, and speed. The processor is programmed to execute processes including receiving messages, repeating received messages, transmitting messages, reporting vehicle data through a vehicle message, and displaying traffic status information based on the received data.

  • Patent number: 7083233
Abstract: An adjustable lumbar support (100) adapted to be easily integrated into new or existing seat structures. Adjustable lumbar support (100) includes a lower floating plate (115) that is adapted to have a second, or upper, plate (130) hinged relative to the lower plate (115). The upper and lower plates have independently actuated support linkages (120 and 140) that are selectively actuated by first and second actuating mechanisms. In this manner, selective actuation actuator mechanisms associated with the lower and upper support plates (115 and 130) provides adjustment of a vertical dimension of the adjustable floating plate lumbar support. The degree of support provided by floating plates (115 and 130) is adjusted by adjusting the effective length of the support linkages.

  • Patent number: 7073777
Abstract: A modular wheel lift provides elevation of a vehicle wheel enclosed by body portions of a low height above the ground. A base lift unit includes a lift surface height selected to be less than the body portions height. A ramp unit is aligned and hingedly attached to one end of the base lift unit, to allow rotational movement of a wheel to the base lift surface. Additional lift units having ramp ends and progressively decreasing lengths are laterally positioned and stacked on the base lift surface. Side brackets are releasably positioned along either side surface to secure the stacked additional lift units to allow rotational movement of the vehicle wheel to an uppermost lift surface. A method of assembly and elevating includes laterally positioning and stacking a plurality of lift units having progressively shorter lengths to provide lifting of a vehicle wheel without disruption of the vehicle body portions.
