  • Patent number: 7051441
Abstract: A leaf spring assisted opener for a folding tool such as a folding knife. The folding tool includes tool pivotally carried by a handle. The tool defines a tang at the proximal end. A leaf spring is carried within the handle for assisting in the opening of the tool. The leaf spring defines an elongated, arcuate configuration having a distal end adapted to engage the tang of the tool. When in the closed orientation, the leaf spring is biased toward the tang of the tool, thus holding it in the closed position. The tang of the tool defines a shoulder strategically positioned such that as the tool is pivoted from the closed position, the leaf spring eventually engages the shoulder and begins to release the tension in the leaf spring. At this point, the tension in the spring serves to open the tool the remainder of the rotation.

  • Patent number: 7048476
Abstract: A cutter head with at least one insert clamp. Each insert clamp includes a wedge member fastened to the cutter head. The cutter head includes an insert slot, a clamping slot, and a threaded aperture. The wedge member, in one embodiment, is wedge shaped and includes a thru-opening. A fastener engages the threaded aperture in the cutter head and passes through the thru-opening in the clamping member. A cutter insert fits into the insert slot in the cutter head, and the wedge member secures the cutting insert against a surface of the cutter head.

  • Patent number: 7036433
Abstract: A projectile 10 for gun ammunition of a size not greater than 50 caliber comprising a solid metal jacket 82 of generally cup-shaped geometry and having a closed end 102 and an open end 88, a core 84 formed from a mixture of metal powders, not including lead, which mixture is cold-pressed into a self-supporting compact and disposed within said jacket, the core incompletely filling the jacket, an ogive 14 having an outer surface and defined on the initially open end of said jacket, and a conical tip 122 defined on the distal end 118 of said ogive, the tip having an outer surface 22 which defines an angle with respect to the longitudinal centerline 24 of the projectile that is greater than the angle defined by the ogive with respect to the longitudinal centerline of the projectile. A method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7034693
Abstract: Described is a locator device for indicating the relative location of a dog in a sporting field and for indicating whether the dog is tracking or on point regardless of the orientation of the device. The locator device calculates whether a dog is tracking or on point by measuring the intensity of the movement of the dog with a vibration switch and then interpreting the intensity of movement. The vibration switch includes two electrical contacts that are disposed substantially on the longitudinal axis of the vibration switch.

  • Patent number: 7020969
Abstract: A straight knife is disclosed including an interchangeable, pivoting double-ended blade and having a locking member within a handle. A pivot member is inserted through a blade body section to allow pivoting of either blade end to an operative position extended from a blade channel defined by the handle. The locking member is positioned adjacent the blade body section within the blade channel and is composed of a resilient spring material. Upon single-handed manipulation by the user, the locking member is moved from an engaged and locked position to a disengaged position apart from the blade for pivoting of the blade to expose either blade end to an operative position. The blade is removable from the handle upon removal of the pivot member and manipulation of the locking member for inserting another like-configured pivotable blade in the blade channel for single-handedly pivoting the blade to exposed a selected blade end.

  • Patent number: 7021244
Abstract: Described is a pet-repellent device for correcting undesirable pet behaviors that are associated with a particular location by restraining a pet from approaching a predefined location of restriction, which corresponds to the particular location of issue. The location of restriction, for practical purposes, is defined by a mat. A receiver that is carried by a pet administers a deterrent to the pet when the pet approaches the mat. Because the predefined location of restriction is defined by a portable mat, the predefined location of restriction is easily relocated in accordance with changing undesired pet behaviors that are associated with a particular location.

  • Patent number: 7021933
Abstract: A reduction burr for universal application for depth reduction of dental or ossiferous surfaces includes a shank of a first diameter extended to a chamfered rim angled radially inwardly to a smaller second diameter. A curved shoulder extended from the chamfered rim decreases in cross-sectional diameter to a distal end having a third diameter. A burr end having an abrasive surface thereon is extended from a junction with the shoulder distal end to a distal burr end, with the abrasive surface having sufficient hardness to cut enamel or ossiferous surfaces. The junction defines a precise stop for self-limiting the burr penetration depth into the enamel or ossiferous surfaces due to the greater second diameter of the curved shoulder contacting against adjacent uncut surfaces. A method of size reduction is disclosed for universal application of a reduction burr to precisely reduce enamel or ossiferous surfaces in both lateral and longitudinal directions.

  • Patent number: 7017524
Abstract: An apparatus for an animal training device including audible and electrical stimulation. A transmitting unit provides control signals to a receiving unit, which includes a receiver, a processor, and a switch connected to a transformer and electrodes. The processor provides signals of that vary the current that produces electrical pulses of varying voltage levels, which are applied at the electrodes and provide electrical stimulation of an animal for training.

  • Patent number: 7011369
Abstract: An adjustable lumbar support (10) adapted to be integrated into new or existing seat structures. Adjustable lumbar support (10) includes a floating plate (15) supported by a support linkage. In one embodiment, the support linkage is defined by first and second spring members (25) and (26) which engage the seat frame. In an alternate embodiment, the support linkage is defined by first and second spring members (25) and (26) engaged with first and second linkage members (52), respectively, and includes a rotary power mechanism (50) for applying a rotating motion to a shaft (54) threadably engaged with first and second linkage members (52). The degree of support provided by floating plate (15) is adjusted by adjusting the effective length of the support linkage. Lumbar support mechanism (10) can be mounted in a seat back alone or in conjunction with an integral trim attachment array (70). Trim attachment array (70) is adapted to replace the trim wires molded into the cushion foam of a standard seat.

  • Patent number: 7006919
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for continuous real-time measurement of bulk material using gamma irradiation and neutron irradiation. A DGA device monitors bulk material flow and produces a spectrum that is compared to a baseline spectrum to produce a relative weight/impurity ratio. A PGNAA device monitors the same bulk material flow and produces a spectrum that is compared to a library of spectrums to produce a relative component ratio. The relative component ratio is processed with the relative weight/impurity ratio to produce an absolute weight and impurity value, which is then processed with the relative component ratio to produce absolute component, or analyte, values.

  • Patent number: 6999886
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating estimated vehicular speed and length using data obtained from a single wire-loop. The detector card connected to a single wire-loop produces a first bivalent output based on the actual measurement of a vehicle at the wire-loop sensor and synthesizes a second bivalent output to mimic the output of a two wire-loop speed trap. By simulating a second bivalent output at the detector card level, a conventional field controller is capable of estimating the vehicular speed from a single wire-loop sensor.
