Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) light engine is provided for use in a light fixture to enable improved and efficient dissipation of heat generated in the light fixture. The light engine includes a circuit board that includes multiple LEDs for emitting light. The light engine includes a chassis that has a plurality of upper fins that extend upward from a central flanged portion to dissipate heat generated by the LEDs into the lighting fixture. The circuit board is mounted to a mounting surface on the chassis that is surrounded by a fin wall that depends from the central flanged portion. The chassis also has a plurality of lower fins that extend outward from an outer surface of the fin wall to dissipate heat out of the fixture and into the ambient air environment.

Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for facilitating payment of a monetary transaction using a card device, the card device comprising a microchip for storing encrypted information including a denomination-specific balance having a plurality of selectable digital monetary amounts associated with a plurality of selectable denominations and a denomination non-specific balance, wherein the card device is rechargeable with further monetary amounts and allows a balance of a transaction to be credited to the card.
Abstract: A method for the determination of a progressive ophthalmic lens for a given wearer comprises the states of: determining the axial length (LA) of the wearer's eye, determining an ergorama associating a sight point with each direction of viewing under wearing conditions, determining power and resulting astigmatism defect targets for each direction of viewing under wearing conditions, the targets being a function of the axial length of the wearer's eye, calculating the power required on the lens for each direction of viewing by successive iterations in order to obtain the target power defect and the target resulting astigmatism.

Abstract: A flange for fastening a line to a pump casing, includes: a pump casing passage; and a plurality of stop members protruding in the passage and angularly distributed around the passage, the position of the flange being angularly adjustable by the stop members. A pump may include the fastening flange. A method for adjusting the position of the flange in relation to the pump is also disclosed. This method makes it possible to avoid the position of the pump casing being imposed by the orientation of the fastening flange of the pump casing.
Abstract: A device list is created for an operating system and/or a virtualized operating system. A bus node is created for each bus. Interface nodes are created as child nodes of the respective bus and a status indicator indicates whether a device connected to the interface is accessible. A device node is created for the device connected to the interface. Virtualized interface nodes are created as child nodes of the device node for each virtual device included in the device and a status indicator indicates whether the respective virtual device is accessible. Then, devices and/or virtual devices may be added and/or removed utilizing the list. After a device and/or virtualized device has been removed for one operating system and/or virtualized operating system, it may then be added to another. In this way, devices and/or virtualized devices can be virtually hot plugged without physically connecting and/or disconnecting devices.

Abstract: A method for killing parasites that includes topically applying onto a companion animal a composition including a natural, non-synthetic active ingredient. The composition may be applied to the animal in various forms, such as a spot-on, shampoo, an on animal spray, or an on animal powder. The present invention further relates to a topical composition for killing a parasite that includes at least one natural active ingredient.
Abstract: A progressive ophthalmic lens includes at least one complex surface having a principal progression meridian. The complex surface has a horizontal reseau of bands and at least one geometrical quantity of the complex surface is substantially equal in all bands of the reseau for a given point of a vertical.
Abstract: A digital voltage regulator including a dual rail delay chain having large size, feed forward cross-coupled inverters that interconnect the two rails. Stages of the delay chain include a dual-ended output that provides a data signal and a substantially simultaneous data complement signal to a flip-flop component associated with a sampling circuit. In use, the enhanced resolution delay chain and the reduced metastability window flop-flop increase the precision of the digital voltage regulator.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for crawling and indexing documents stored in a data storage system. A crawler system processes multiple jobs that each correspond to crawling documents in the data storage system. Each job includes priority data and crawling instructions. The crawler system stores each job in a priority queue in a sequence based on the priority data. The crawler system assigns each job in the priority queue to a next available processing module for processing based on the stored sequence. Before processing each job, the crawler system determines whether to segment the job into smaller steps based on the corresponding crawling instructions. If the job is segmented, one of smaller steps is processed to crawl a group of the documents in the data storage system. The remaining steps are stored in the priority queue to wait for processing.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for dynamic scheduling of application tasks in a distributed task-based system. The system and method employ a learning mechanism that observes and predicts overall application task costs across a networked system, taking into account how the states or loads of the applications are likely to change over time. The application task costs are defined in economic terms. The system and method allows continuous optimization of application response times as perceived by application users.
